The members of the battalion waited.
كَانُواThey wereمُنْهَكِينَexhaustedولَمْand did notيَأْخُذُواtakeقِسْطًاa portionكَافِيًاsufficientمِنَfromالنَّوْمِ،sleep,فَضْلًاlet aloneعَنْthatأَنَّهُمْtheyعَمِلُواworkedكَثِيرًا.a lot.
They were exhausted and did not take a sufficient portion of sleep, let alone that they worked a lot.
