وَعِنْدَمَاAnd whenانْطَلَقَتْemittedأَصْوَاتُthe soundsالْمَدَافِعِof the cannonsمِنْfromجَدِيدٍnewبَدَاappearedالْبُؤْسُthe miseryعَلَىonوُجُوهِthe faces ofالْجُنُودِthe soldiersوَandبَدَءُواthey beganيُغَمْغِمُونَto murmurوَكَأَنَّas ifلِسَانَthe tongue ofحَالِهِمْtheir stateيَقُولُsaysمَاwhatالَّذِيthat whichيُمْكِنُنَاwe canفِعْلُهُdoأَكْثَرَmoreمِنْthanذَلِكَthatسَمِعُواthey heardشَائِعَاتٍrumorsأَنَّthatجَيْشَهُمْtheir armyكَانَwasيَخْسَرُlosingالْحَرْبَthe war

Sometimes the enemy's men are seen hurrying in the midst of the small trees and fields, and they were shouting enthusiastically happy.
