A journey of learning to survive
فِيInهَذِهِthisاَللَّيْلَةِ،night,وَاجَهَfacedبَاكْBuckمُشْكِلَةًa problemكَبِيرَةًbigوَقْتَat the timeاَلنَّوْمِ.of sleep.
In this night, Buck faced a big problem at the time of sleep.
كَانَتِWasاَلْخَيْمَةُthe tent——اَلَّتِيwhichتُضِيئُهَاilluminates itشَمْعَةٌa candle——يَمْلَؤُهَاfills itاَلدِّفْءُ،warmth,بَيْنَمَاwhileكَانَwasكُلُّeveryشَيْءٍthingحَوْلَهُمْaround themأَبْيَضَwhiteوَمَلِيئًاand fullبِالثَّلْجِ.of snow.
The tent — which a candle illuminates — was filled with warmth, while everything around them was white and full of snow.
وَعِنْدَمَاAnd whenدَخَلَenteredبَاكْBuckاَلْخَيْمَةَthe tent——ظَنًّاthinkingمِنْهُfrom himأَنَّthatذَلِكَthatتَصَرُّفٌbehaviorعَادِيٌّnormal——صَرَخَshoutedپِيرُوPerraultوَفْرَانْسُوَاand Francoisفِيinوَجْهِهِhis face
And when Buck entered the tent — thinking that was normal behavior — Perrault and Francois shouted in his face
وَأَخَذَاand they tookيَقْذِفَانِهِthrowing at himبِالْأَشْيَاءِwith thingsحَتَّىuntilجَرَىhe ranبَعِيدًاawayوَهُوَwhile heيَشْعُرُfeelsبِالْغَضَبِangerوَالْإِحْرَاجِ،and embarrassment,
and they took throwing at him with things until he ran away while he feels anger and embarrassment,

and he went out once more into the cold weather, and the air of intense coldness took sinking its arrows into his bones.
فَاسْتَلْقَىSo lay downبَاكْBuckعَلَىonاَثُّلُوجِthe snowوَحَاوَلَand triedأَنْtoيَنَامَ،sleep,وَلَكِنَّbutاَلصَّقِيعَthe frostجَعَلَmadeجَسَدَهُhis bodyكُلَّهُall of itيَرْتَجِفُ.shiver.
So Buck lay down on the snow and tried to sleep, but the frost made his body all of it shiver.
وَأَخَذَAnd tookبَاكْBuckيَسِيرُwalkingوَسْطَamidstاَلْخِيَمِthe tentsاَلْمُتَعَدِّدَةِmultipleوَهُوَwhile heفِيinحَالَةٍa stateيُرْثَىto be pitiedلَهَا،for it,وَلَكِنْbutلَمْdid notيَجِدْfindمَكَانًاa placeأَقَلَّlessبُرُودَةًcoldnessمِنَthanاَلْآخَرِ.the other.
And Buck took walking amidst the multiple tents while he in a state to be pitied for it, but did not find a place less cold than the other.

The wild dogs which encounter him here and there tried to scare him, but he was growling and the hair of his neck standing up

Then an idea occurred to him and he decided to return to his companions in the pack and see how they sleep.
وَلَكِنَّهُBut heفُوجِئَwas surprisedبِأَنَّهُمْthat theyقَدِhadاِخْتَفَوْا؛disappeared;أَخَذَtookبَاكْBuckيَدُورُroamingحَوْلَaroundاَلْمُعَسْكَرِthe campاَلْكَبِيرِbigبَاحِثًاsearchingعَنْهُمْ،for them,وَلَكِنَّهُbut heعَادَreturnedدُونَwithoutأَنْthatيَجِدَهُمْ.he finds them.
But he was surprised that they had disappeared; Buck took roaming around the big camp searching for them, but he returned without finding them.

Where can they be then? Buck took roaming around the tent while he trembles and drags his tail behind him, feeling loss and loneliness.
وَفَجْأَةً،And suddenly,اِنْزَاحَshiftedاَثُّلُوجُthe snowمِنْfromتَحْتِunderقَدَمَيْهِhis feetاَلْأَمَامِيَّتَيْنِfrontوَغَاصَتْand sankقَدَمَاهُhis feetقَلِيلًا،a little,
And suddenly, the snow shifted from under his front feet and his feet sank a little,

while he feels fear from the unknown, but he heard friendly howling and reassuring him
فَعَادَso he returnedمَرَّةًonceأُخْرَىmoreلِيَسْتَكْشِفَto discoverحَقِيقَةَthe truthاَلْأَمْرِ.of the matter.
so he returned once more to discover the truth of the matter.
اِشْتَمَّSmelledبَاكْBuckنَسْمَةَa whiffهَوَاءٍof airدَافِئٍ،warm,وَهُنَاكَand thereرَأَىhe sawبِيلِيBilleeوَهُوَwhile heمُتَكَوِّرٌcurled upعَلَىonنَفْسِهِhimselfتَحْتَunderاَثُّلُوجِthe snowمُسْتَلْقِيًاlyingفِيinكُرَةٍa ballدَافِئَةٍ.warm.
Buck smelled a whiff of warm air, and there he saw Billee while he curled up on himself under the snow lying in a warm ball.
أَخَذَBeganبِيلِيBilleeيَعْوِيhowlingوَيَتَلَوَّىand twistingلِيُثْبِتَto proveلِبَاكْto Buckأَنَّهُthat heصَدِيقٌ،is a friend,بَلْnayوَلَعَقَand he lickedوَجْهَfaceبَاكْof Buckبِلِسَانِهِwith his tongueاَلرَّطْبِwetاَلدَّافِئِ.warm.
Billee began howling and twisting to prove to Buck that he is a friend, nay and he licked face of Buck with his wet warm tongue.

This was another lesson Buck learned, so thus the dogs sleep amidst the snow.
اِنْتَقَىChoseبَاكْBuckمَوْضِعًا،a spot,وَبَدَأَand beganيَعْمَلُworkingبِجِدٍّhardلِيَحْفِرَto digلِنَفْسِهِfor himselfحُفْرَةً،a hole,وَسُرْعَانَand soonمَاwhatتَسَرَّبَتِleakedاَلْحَرَارَةُthe heatمِنْfromجَسَدِهِhis bodyلِتَمْلَأَto fillهَذَاthisاَلْمَكَانَplaceاَلصَّغِيرَsmallوَرَاحَand wentبَاكْBuckفِيintoاَلنَّوْمِ.sleep.
Buck chose a spot, and began working hard to dig a hole for himself, and soon the heat leaked from his body to fill this small place and Buck went into sleep.
لَقَدْIndeedمَرَّhe passedبِيَوْمٍthrough a dayطَوِيلٍlongوَشَاقٍّ،and arduous,وَلِذَاand thereforeفَقَدْhe hasغَطَّsunkفِيinسُبَاتٍa slumberعَمِيقٍdeepوَمُرِيحٍ،and comfortable,رَغْمَdespiteأَنَّهُthat heكَانَwasيُزَمْجِرُgrowlingوَيَنْبَحُand barkingوَهُوَwhile heيُصَارِعُwrestlesاَلْأَحْلَامَthe dreamsاَلسَّيِّئَةَ.bad.
Indeed he passed through a long and arduous day, and therefore he has sunk in a deep and comfortable slumber, despite that he was growling and barking while he wrestles the bad dreams.
لَمْDid notيَفْتَحْopenبَاكْBuckعَيْنَيْهِhis eyesحَتَّىuntilأَيْقَظَتْهُawoke himضَوْضَاءُthe noiseاَلْمُعَسْكَرِ.of the camp.
Buck did not open his eyes until the noise of the camp awoke him.
فِيInاَلْبِدَايَةِthe beginningلَمْhe did notيُدْرِكْrealizeأَيْنَwhereهُوَ،he is,فَقَدْforتَسَاقَطَتِfellاَثُّلُوجُthe snowأَثْنَاءَduringاَللَّيْلِthe nightوَغَطَّتْهُand covered himتَمَامًا.completely.
In the beginning he did not realize where he is, for the snow fell during the night and covered him completely.
وَكَانَتِAnd wereاَلْحَوَائِطُthe wallsاَثُّلْجِيَّةُsnowyتُحِيطُsurroundingبِهِhimمِنْfromكُلِّeveryمَكَانٍplaceوَتَضْغَطُand pressingعَلَىonجَسَدِهِ،his body,فَشَعَرَso he feltبِالرُّعْبِterrorوَتَقَلَّصَتْand contractedعَضَلَاتُهُhis musclesوَانْتَصَبَand stood upشَعْرُhairرَقَبَتِهِhis neckوَكَتِفَيْهِand his shouldersتَمَامًا.completely.
And the snowy walls were surrounding him from every place and pressing on his body, so he felt terror and his muscles contracted and the hair of his neck and his shoulders stood up completely.
ثُمَّThenقَفَزَleapedبَاكْBuckوَهُوَwhile heيُزَمْجِرُroaredبِقُوَّةٍwith strengthإِلَىtoاَلْأَعْلَىthe topوَخَرَجَand went outإِلَىtoضَوْءِlightاَلنَّهَارِof dayاَلَّذِيwhichأَعْمَىblindedعَيْنَيْهِhis eyesفِيinاَلْبِدَايَةِ،the beginning,وَتَطَايَرَتْand scatteredكُتَلُchunksاَثُّلُوجِof snowمِنْfromفَوْقِهِ.above him.
Then Buck leaped while he roared with strength to the top and went out to light of day which blinded his eyes in the beginning, and chunks of snow scattered from above him.
وَقَبْلَAnd beforeأَنْthatيَسْتَقِرَّhe settlesعَلَىonقَدَمَيْهِhis feetمَرَّةًonceأُخْرَى،more,رَأَىsawبَاكْBuckمِنْfromحَوْلِهِaround himاَلْمُعَسْكَرَthe campاَلَّذِيwhichتُحِيطُsurroundsبِهِhimاَثُّلُوجُthe snowاَلْبَيْضَاءُ،white,وَتَذَكَّرَand rememberedأَيْنَwhereهُوَ.he is.
And before that he settles on his feet once more, Buck saw from around him the camp which surrounds him the white snow, and remembered where he is.

And Buck remembered at that time what happened to him since that he went in that excursion with Manuel and until he dug for himself a hole night past to sleep in it.

And as soon as seeing Buck, Francois shouted in a voice loud to Perrault: "Did not I say to you that that dog Buck learns any thing quickly?"

Perrault nodded and seriousness is drawn on his features, and looking because he works postman of mail at the Canadian government and conveys correspondence important, he was wanting to get on best dogs, and therefore he was happy because he found Buck.

Three other Husky dogs joined to the pack in less than an hour to become number of the dogs nine.
وَفِيAnd inغُضُونِduringرُبُعِquarterسَاعَةٍ،of an hour,كَانَتِwereاَلسُّرُوجُthe saddlesقَدْalreadyثُبِّتَتْfixedعَلَىonظُهُورِهَاtheir backsجَمِيعًا،all together,وَكَانَتْand wasتَنْعَطِفُturningبِالْمِزْلَجَةِwith the sledفَوْقَoverاَلطَّرِيقِthe pathاَلْمُؤَدِّيleadingإِلَىtoوَادِيvalleyدِيَا.Dyea.
And during quarter of an hour, the saddles were already fixed on their backs all together, and was turning with the sled over the path leading to valley Dyea.
كَانَWasبَاكْBuckسَعِيدًاhappyبِالْانْطِلَاقِwith the setting offلِلْعَمَلِ،for work,وَمَعَand withأَنَّthatاَلْعَمَلَthe workكَانَwasشَاقًّا،hard,لَمْdid notيَكُنْhe beمُنْزَعِجًاannoyedمِنْهُ.from it.
Was Buck happy with the setting off for work, and with that the work was hard, did not he be annoyed from it.

Amazed him the enthusiasm of the pack, and he was amazed more by the change which occurred on two characters Dave and Sol-leks;

for indeed appeared as if the saddle fixed on back each of them has changed them completely.

So they did not return calm and isolated, nay they became alert and filled with vitality and activity,

and eager on performing the work in a manner good, and they were getting angry from any thing delays their work;
بَدَاit seemedوَكَأَنَّas ifاَلْعَمَلَthe workاَلشَّاقَّhardهُوَisاَلشَّيْءُthe thingاَلْوَحِيدُonlyاَلَّذِيwhichيُسْعِدُهُمَا.makes them happy.
it seemed as if the work hard is the thing only which makes them happy.
كَانَWasدَيْفْDaveهُوَheمَنْwhoيَجُرُّpullsاَلْمِزْلَجَةَthe sledمُبَاشَرَةًdirectlyوَمِنْand fromأَمَامِهِfront of himبَاكْ،Buck,ثُمَّthenسُولِيكْسْ،Sol-leks,وَمِنْand fromأَمَامِهِمْfront of themبَقِيَّةُremainder ofاَلْجَمْعِthe groupفِيinصَفٍّa lineوَاحِدٍsingleيَنْتَهِيendingبِسْبِيتْزِwith Spitzفِيinاَلْمُقَدَّمَةِ،the front,فَقَدْfor indeedكَانَhe wasهُوَheاَلْقَائِدَ.the leader.
Dave was he who pulls the sled directly and from front of him Buck, then Sol-leks, and from front of them remainder of the group in a line single ending with Spitz in the front, for indeed he was he the leader.

Indeed was placed Buck between Dave and Sol-leks so that it is possible for him to learn from these two dogs older than him.

And in one of the times which stopped in it the sled for a period short, stumbled Buck in the ropes and delayed its setting off once more,
فَغَضِبَso got angryمِنْهُat himدَيْفْDaveوَسُولِيكْسْand Sol-leksكَثِيرًا،a lot,وَلَكِنَّbutبَاكْBuckاِتَّخَذَtookحِذْرَهُhis cautionبَعْدَafterذَلِكَthatوَظَلَّand remainedبَعِيدًاawayعَنِfromاَلْحِبَالِ.the ropes.
so got angry at him Dave and Sol-leks a lot, but Buck took his caution after that and remained away from the ropes.

And before that ends the day, became performance of Buck wonderful until that Dave and Sol-leks stopped from harassing him, and even Perrault indeed raised of his worth when he raised his feet and examined them with care.

Was the journey which covered it the dogs in that day arduous; for indeed they ascended to the valley via camp Sheep,

and put on his back a saddle he and the dogs other and tied it in the sled.

Got angry Perrault very much, but he did not suspect in Buck, nay he accused a dog other named Dab — while he is a dog clumsy always what catches him Perrault while he steals — and punished him.

As it showed also that his conscience did not anymore reproach him because of the theft; so did not be before him option other in this place cold desolate.
فَهُوَSo heلَمْdid notيَسْرِقْstealلِأَنَّهُbecause heيُحِبُّlovesذَلِكَ،that,وَلَكِنْbutلِأَنَّهُbecause heكَانَwasجَائِعًا.hungry.
So he did not steal because he loves that, but because he was hungry.
وَكَانَAnd wasبَاكْBuckيَسْرِقُstealingبِحِرْصٍwith careوَفِيand inسِرِّيَّةٍsecrecyلِأَنَّهُbecause heلَمْdid notيُرِيدُwantأَنْtoيُعَاقَبَbe punishedعَلَىforاَلسَّرِقَةِ.the theft.

and when he was fighting with the dogs other, it was feeling as if one of his ancestors he the warrior.
