وَكَانَAnd wasأَصْلُthe originالْكِتَابِof the bookاَلِاسْتِفْتَاءِa consultationوَرَدَthat was answeredعَلَىtoالْمُؤَلِّفِthe author,,فَسُئِلَso he was askedعَنْaboutرَجُلٍa manابْتُلِيَwho was afflictedبِبَلِيَّةٍwith a calamityإِنْifاسْتَمَرَّتْit continuedبِهِin itأَفْسَدَتْit would ruinدُنْيَاهُhis worldly lifeوَآخِرَتَهُand his hereafter.

And the origin of the book was a consultation that was answered by the author, so he was asked about a man who was afflicted with a calamity that if it continued it would ruin his worldly life and his hereafter.

وَقَدْAnd heاجْتَهَدَstrivedفِيto preventدَفْعِهَاitعَنْfromنَفْسِهِhimselfبِكُلِّby everyطَرِيقٍway,,,فَمَاbut whatتَزْدَادُit increasedإِلَّاonlyتَوَقُّدًاwith fervorوَشِدَّةًand intensity.

And he strived to prevent it from himself by every way, but it only increased with fervor and intensity.

وَنَظَرَAnd the responder lookedالْمُجِيبُthe respondentإِلَىtoالْحَالَةِthe situationالْمُسْتَعْصِيَةِdesperate,,,وَعُمُومِand the generalالْبَلْوَىcalamity,,,فَرَأَىhe sawأَنَّthatالتَّفْصِيلَthe elaborationأَوْلَىis preferableفِيinهَذَاthisالْمَقَامِmatterمِنthanالإِيجَازِthe brevity,

And the responder looked at the desperate situation and the general calamity, and he saw that elaboration is preferable in this matter than brevity.

وَمُقْتَضَىAnd the requirementالنَّصْحِof advisingلِلْسَّائِلِthe questionerوَالشَّفَقَةِand compassionعَلَيْهِon himوَعَلَىand onأَمْثَالِهِhis ilkأَنْthatيَسْتُوعِبَhe encompassesالْقَوْلَthe discourseفِيaboutأَسْبَابِthe causesالْمَرَضِof illnessوَعَوَاقِبِهَاand its consequencesالْوَخِيمَةِgraveوَأَنْand thatيُرْشِدَhe guidesإِلَىtoطُرُقِwaysالْوِقَايَةِof preventionوَسُبُلِand meansالْخَلَاصِof salvation.

And the requirement of advising the questioner and compassion on him and his ilk is that he encompasses the discourse about the causes of illness and its grave consequences and that he guides to ways of prevention and means of salvation.

فَكَتَبَSo he wroteفُصُولًاchaptersنَفِيسَةًvaluableفِيinالدُّعَاءِsupplicationوَشُرُوطِand conditionsقُبُولِهِof its acceptance,وَالأَسْبَابِand the causesالْمَانِعَةِthat preventمِنfromتَرَتُّبِthe occurrenceأَثَرِهِof its effect,وَفِيand inالْفَرْقِthe distinctionبَيْنَbetweenحُسْنِgoodالظَّنِّexpectationبِاللَّهِin Allahوَالْاِغْتِرَارِand being deceivedبِرَحْمَتِهِby His mercy,وَفِيand inأَضْرَارِthe harmsالْمَعَاصِيِof sinsوَآثَارِهَاand their effectsفِيinحَيَاةِthe lifeالْأَفْرَادِof individualsوَالْأُمَمِand nationsوَعُقُوبَاتِهَاand its punishmentsفِيinالدُّنْيَاthis lifeوَالْآخِرَةِand the Hereafter,

So he wrote valuable chapters in supplication and the conditions of its acceptance, and the causes that prevent its effect, and in the distinction between good expectation in Allah and being deceived by His mercy, and in the harms of sins and their effects in the life of individuals and nations and its punishments in this life and the Hereafter.

وَحَقِيقَةُAnd the realityالتَّعَبُّدِof worshipingاللَّهِAllahوَالإِشْرَاكِand associatingبِهِwith Him,وَالسِّرُّand the wisdomفِيinكَوْنِthe non-forgivenessالشِّرْكِof polytheismلَاnotيُغْفَرُforgivenمِنfromسَائِرِallالذُّنُوبِsins,وَمُضَادَّةُand the contradictionعِشْقِof loveالصُّورِfor imagesلِلْتَّوْحِيدِto monotheismوَمَفَاسِدُهُand its evilsالْأُخْرَىotherالْعَاجِلَةِimmediate,وَالْآجِلَةِand delayed.

And the reality of worshiping Allah and associating with Him, and the wisdom in that polytheism is not forgiven from all sins, and the contradiction of love for images to monotheism and its immediate and delayed evils.

وَهَكَذَاAnd thusأَصْبَحَbecameالْجَوَابُthe answerعَنْtoذَاكَthatالسُّؤَالِquestionكِتَابًاa bookمُفَصَّلًاdetailed.

And thus the answer to that question became a detailed book.

وَلَئِنْAnd ifكَانَwasالْمُجْتَمَعُthe societyالَّذِيwhichعَاشَlivedفِيهِin itالْمُؤَلِّفُthe authorرَحِمَهُ اللَّهُmay Allah have mercy on himبِحَاجَةٍin needإِلَىofهَذَاthisالْكِتَابِbook,عَلَىdespiteمَا فِيهِwhat is in itمِنofتَمَسُّكٍholding fastبِالدِّينِto religionوَمُحَافَظَةٍand preservationعَلَىofالْأَخْلَاقِmoralityوَالْآدَابِand etiquette -إِنَّindeedمُجْتَمَعَاتِنَاour societiesإِلَيْهِto itلَأَحْوَجُare more in need,

And if the society in which the author, may Allah have mercy on him, lived was in need of this book, despite what is in it of holding fast to religion and the preservation of morality and etiquette - indeed our societies are more in need of it.

إِذْAsصَارَتْit has becomeتَمُورُto surgeبِأَسْبَابِwith the causesالْفَسَادِof corruption,بَعْدَمَاafterنَجَحَsucceededالْغَوَاةُthe seducersفِيinكَثِيرٍmanyمِنْofالْبِلَادِcountriesالْإِسْلَامِيَّةِIslamicفِيinاِسْتِدْرَاجِseducingالْمَرْأَةِthe womanالْمُسْلِمَةِMuslimتَحْتَunderشِعَارَاتٍslogansخَادِعَةٍdeceptiveإِلَىtoنَزْعِremoveالْحِجَابِthe hijabوَالِاخْتِلَاطِand mixingبِالرِّجَالِwith men,

As it has become surging with the causes of corruption, after the seducers succeeded in many Islamic countries in seducing the Muslim woman under deceptive slogans to remove the hijab and mix with men,

فَصَارَso it becameالْمَعْرُوفُthe knownمُنْكَرًاas forbidden,وَالْمُنْكَرُand the forbiddenمَعْرُوفًاas known.ثُمَّThenتَفَنَّنَthe devils indulgedإِخْوَانُthe brothersالشَّيَاطِينِof devilsفِيinإِيجَادِcreatingوَسَائِلَmeansجَدِيدَةٍnewلِإِثَارَةِto provokeالْغَرِيزةِthe instinctالْجِنْسِيَّةِsexualوَإِشَاعَةِand to spreadالْفَاحِشَةِimmoralityفِيinالَّذِينَthose whoآمَنُواbelieved,

So it became known as forbidden, and the forbidden became known. Then the devils indulged in creating new means to provoke sexual instinct and spread immorality among those who believed.

فَقَدْIndeedعَلِمُواthey knowأَنَّthatالانْحِلالَmoral decayالْخُلُقِيِّيis the closestهُوَisأَقْرَبُthe closestطَرِيقٍwayإِلَىtoتَدمِيرِdestroyingالْأُمَّةِthe nation,وَاللَّهُand Allahالْمُسْتَعَانُis the helper.

Indeed, they know that moral decay is the closest way to destroy the nation, and Allah is the helper.

وَقَدْAnd the bookصُدِرَwas publishedالْكِتَابُthe bookقَدِيمًاa long time agoفِيinالهِندِIndiaسَنَةَthe year١٣٠٧ه1307 AH,ثُمَّthenطُبِعَتْprintedفِيinمِصْرَEgypt,

And the book was published a long time ago in India in the year 1307 AH, then printed in Egypt.
