As for the action, it is like raising his finger to the sky while he is giving a sermon to the people in the largest gathering, which was on the Day of Arafah in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage; for indeed the companions did not gather a larger gathering than that. Those who performed pilgrimage with him reached about one hundred thousand, and those who died among them were about one hundred and four thousand. This means: the general Muslims attended that gathering, and he, peace be upon him, said: 'Did I convey (the message)?' They said: Yes. 'Did I convey?' They said: Yes. 'Did I convey?' They said: Yes. And he would say: 'O Allah, bear witness'; indicating to the sky with his finger and pointing it to the people. This is raising his hands to the sky in supplication. This is proof of the highness by action.

And as for the report; it is in the narration of Muawiya bin Al-Hakam, may Allah be pleased with him; that he came with a girl he wanted to free, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: 'Where is Allah?' She said: 'In the sky.' He said: 'Who am I?' She said: 'The Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Free her; for indeed she is a believer.’ (2)
