الْقَوْلُThe statementالثَّالِثُthe thirdأَنَّهُis that

The third statement is that it is the death:

مُتَوَفِّيكَYour taker (of life)))مُمِيتُكَYour killer,,وَمِنْand fromقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَىthe Exalted

The meaning of "Your taker (of life)" is "Your killer," and from His saying, the Exalted,

اللَّهُAllahيَتَوَفَّىtakes the livesالْأَنفُسَthe soulsحِينَat the time ofمَوْتِهَاits death

Allah takes the lives of the souls at the time of their death.

[الزُّمر[Az-Zumar::٤٢]42]

[Az-Zumar: 42]

وَالْقَوْلُAnd the statementبِأَنَّthatمُتَوَفِّيكَYour taker (of life)مُتَوَفِّيكَis a taker (of life)بِمَعْنَىin meaningمُمِيتِكَYour killerبَعِيدٌ؛is distant;لِأَنَّbecauseعِيسَىJesusعَلَيْهِpeace be upon himلَمْdid notيَمُتْdieوَandسَيَنْزِلُhe will descendفِيin

And the statement that "Your taker (of life)" is a taker (of life) is distant; because Jesus (peace be upon him) did not die and will descend at the end of time.

قَالَsaidاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Exalted::وَإِنَّAnd indeedمِنْamongأَهْلِthe people ofالْكِتَابِthe Bookإِلَّاexceptلَيُؤْمِنَنَّthey will surely believeبِهِin himقَبْلَbeforeمَوْتِهِhis death

Allah the Exalted said: "And indeed, among the people of the Book, they will surely believe in him before his death."

[الْنِّسَاءِ[An-Nisa::١٥٩]159]

[An-Nisa: 159]

أَيْ:That is:قَبْلَbeforeمَوْتِthe deathعِيسَىof Jesusعَلَيْهِaccording toأَحَدِone ofالْقَوْلَيْنِthe two statements

That is: before the death of Jesus according to one of the two statements,

وَذَلِكَand that isإِذَاifنَزَلَhe descendsفِيinآخِرِthe lastالزَّمَانِtime

if he descends in the last time.

وَقِيلَAnd it was said::قَبْلَbeforeمَوْتِthe deathالْوَاحِدِthe oneيَعْنِي:meaning that:مَاnoمِنْofأَحَدٍanyone

And it was said: "Before the death of the one; meaning that: that no one of the people of the Book will believe until he is at his death."

وَهَذَاAnd thisالْقَوْلُstatementضَعِيفٌis weak

And this statement is weak.

بَقِيَRemainsالنَّظَرُthe lookبَيْنَbetweenوَفَاةِthe deathالْقَبْضِby taking (of life)وَوَفَاةِand the deathالنَّوْمِof sleep,,فَنَقُولُso we can say::إِنَّهُthat itيُمْكِنُcanأَنْtoيَجْمَعَcombineبَيْنَهُمَاbetween them

Remains to look between the death by taking (of life) and the death of sleep, so we can say: that it can combine between them.

فَيَكُونُSo it would beقَابِضًاa takerلَهُto himحَالَduringنَوْمِهِhis sleep

So it would be a taker to him during his sleep;

meaning that Allah the Exalted cast sleep on him, and then raised him, and there is no contradiction between the two matters.

His saying: "And He will raise you to the witness here; for indeed, to is indicative of the purpose, and His saying: "And He will raise you to..."

It indicates that which is raised to it was high, and this indicates the greatness of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.

If a speaker said: the intended meaning is to raise you in rank; just as Allah the Exalted said: "and her rank in this world and in the Hereafter and of the nearer ones."

We said: This does not stand; because the elevation here was compensated with a preposition that is specific to the elevation that is above; the elevation of the body, and not the elevation of the rank. And know that the greatness of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.
