وَقَوْلُهُ:And His saying:ثُمَّThenاسْتَوَىHe established Himselfعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِthe Throne:):)هَذَاThisالشَّاهِدُ،is a witness,وَيُقَالُand it is saidفِيinمَعْنَاهَاits meaningمَاwhatسَبَقَ.has preceded.

And His saying: 'Then He established Himself upon the Throne': This is a witness, and it is said in its meaning what has preceded.

الْمَوْضِعُThe placeالرَّابِعُ:the fourth:فِيinسُورَةِthe SurahطَهَTahaقَالَ:said:وَالرَّحْمَنُAnd the Most Mercifulعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِthe Throneاسْتَوَى)He established Himself)[طَهَ: ٥].[Taha: 5].

The place the fourth: In Surah Taha, He said: 'And the Most Merciful established Himself upon the Throne.' [Taha: 5].

قَدَّمَIt precedesعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِ)the Throne)وَهُوَand it isمَعْمُولٌan objectلِـfor﴿اسْتَوَى(He established Himselfلِإفَادَةِto benefitالْحَصْرِthe restrictionوَالتَّخْصِيصِand specificationوَبَيَانٍand to clarifyأَنَّهُthat Heسُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىGlorified and Exaltedلَمْdid notيَسْتَوِestablish Himselfعَلَىuponشَيْءٍanythingسِوَىexceptالْعَرْشِ.the Throne.

It precedes 'upon the Throne'; and it is an object for (He established Himself) to indicate restriction and specification and to clarify that He, Glorified and Exalted, did not establish Himself upon anything except the Throne.

وَفِيAnd inذِكْرِthe mention ofالرَّحْمَنُthe Most Mercifulإِشارةٌthere is an indicationإِلَىtoأَنَّهُthat HeمَعَwithعُلُوِّهِHis Exaltednessوَعَظَمَتِهِand His greatnessمَوْصُوفٌis describedبِالرَّحْمَةِ.by mercy.

And in the mention of the Most Merciful, there is an indication to that He, with His Exaltedness and greatness, is described by mercy.

الْمَوْضِعُThe placeالْخَامِسُ:the fifth:فِيinسُورَةِthe SurahالْفُرْقَانِAl-Furqanقَوْلُهُ:His saying:﴿ثُمَّ'ThenاسْتَوَىHe established Himselfعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِthe Throneالرَّحْمَنُ)the Most Merciful)[الْفُرْقَان: ٥٩].[Al-Furqan: 59].

The place the fifth: In the Surah Al-Furqan, His saying: 'Then the Most Merciful established Himself upon the Throne.' [Al-Furqan: 59].

الرَّحْمَنُ:The Most Merciful:فَاعِلٌis the subjectاسْتَوَى)He established Himself)..

The Most Merciful: is the subject of (He established Himself).

الْمَوْضِعُThe placeالسَّادِسُthe sixth::فِيinسُورَةِthe SurahالْمٓAlif Lam MeemالسَّجْدَةِAs-Sajdahقَالَ:He said:﴿اللَّهُ'AllahالَّذِيWhoخَلَقَcreatedالسَّمَوَاتِthe heavensوandالْأَرْضَthe earthوَمَاand whatبَيْنَهُمَاis between themفِيinسِتَّةِsixأَيَّامٍdaysثُمَّthenاسْتَوَىHe established Himselfعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِthe Throne))[السَّجْدَة: ٤].[As-Sajdah: 4].

The place the sixth: In the Surah Alif Lam Meem As-Sajdah, He said: 'Allah Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days, then He established Himself upon the Throne.' [As-Sajdah: 4].

نَقُولُWe sayفِيهاin itمِثْلَlikeمَاwhatقُلْنَاwe have saidفِيinآيَاتِthe AyahالأَعْرَافِAl-A'rafوَيونُسَ،and Yunus,لَكِنْbutهُنَاhereفِيَهَاin itزِيَادَةٌ:there is an addition:﴿ وَمَا'And whatبَيْنَهُمَا؛is between them;يَعْنِي:meaning:بَيْنَbetweenالسَّمَاءِthe skyوَالْأَرْضِ،and the earth,وَالَّذِيand that whichبَيْنَهُمَاbetween themمَخْلُوقَاتٌcreaturesعَظِيمَةٌgreatاسْتَحَقَّتْwhich deserveأَنْto beتَكُونَto beمُعَادَلَةًequivalentلِلْسَّمَاءِto the heavensوَالْأَرْضِ،and the earth,وَهَذِهِand theseالمَخْلُوقَاتُcreaturesالْعَظِيمَةُthe greatمِنْهَاof themمَاwhatهُوَisمَعْلُومٌknownلَنَاto usكَالشَّمْسِlike the sunوَالْقَمَرِand the moonوَالنُّجُومِand the starsوَالسَّحَابِand the cloudsوَمِنْهَاand of themمَاwhatهُوَisمَجْهُولٌunknownإِلَىuntilالْآنَ.now.

We say in it like what we have said in the Ayahs of Al-A'raf and Yunus, but here there is an addition: 'And what is between them; meaning: between the sky and the earth, and that which is between them are great creatures which deserve to be equivalent to the heavens and the earth, and these great creatures include what is known to us like the sun and the moon and the stars and the clouds, and of them what is unknown until now.
