فَإِنَّThenقُلْتُI said::كَيْفَHowتَجْمَعُونَdo you reconcileبَيْنَbetweenهَذِهِthisالْآيَةِverse::﴿[فَلَاSo do notتَضْرِبُواstrikeلِلَّهِto Allahالْأَمْثَالَthe examplesإِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahيَعْلَمُknowsوَأَنْتُمْand youلَاdo notتَعْلَمُونَknow﴾][النَّحْلِ[An-NahlفَلاSo do notتَجْعَلُواmakeلِلَّهِfor Allahأَندَادًاequalsوَأَنْتُمْand youتَعْلَمُونَknow::؟!?!الْجَوَابُThe answer::أَنَّهُis thatهُنَاكَthereيُخَاطِبُspeaks toالَّذِينَthose whoيُشْرِكُونَassociateبِهِwith HimفِيinالْأَلُوهِيَّةِdivinityفَيَقُولُHe says::﴿[فَلَاSo do notتَجْعَلُواmakeلِلَّهِfor Allahأَندَادًاequals))فِيinالْعِبَادَةِworshipوَandالْأَلُوهِيَّةِdivinityوَأَنْتُمْAnd youتَعْلَمُونَknowأَنَّهُthat there is noلَاnoنِدٌّequalلَهُto Himفِيinالرُّبُوبِيَّةِlordship;;
Then I said: How do you reconcile between this verse: ﴿ So do not strike examples for Allah; Indeed Allah knows, and you do not know ﴾ [An-Nahl: 74], and between His saying: ﴿ So do not make equals to Allah while you know ﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 22]?!
الْجَوَابُThe answer::أَنَّهُis thatهُنَاكَthereيُخَاطِبُspeaks toالَّذِينَthose whoيُشْرِكُونَassociateبِهِwith HimفِيinالْأَلُوهِيَّةِdivinityفَيَقُولُHe says::﴿[فَلَاSo do notتَجْعَلُواmakeلِلَّهِfor Allahأَندَادًاequals))فِيinالْعِبَادَةِworshipوandالْأَلُوهِيَّةِdivinityوَأَنْتُمْAnd youتَعْلَمُونَknowأَنَّهُthat there is noلَاnoنِدٌّequalلَهُto Himفِيinالرُّبُوبِيَّةِlordship;;
The answer is that there it speaks to those who associate Him in divinity.
بِدَلِيلٍas evidenceقَوْلِهِHis saying::﴿[يَاأَيُّهَاO youالنَّاسُpeopleاعْبُدُواworshipرَبَّكُمُyour Lordالَّذِيwhoخَلَقَكُمْcreated youوَالَّذِينَand those whoمِنfromقَبْلِكُمْbefore youلَعَلَّكُمْperhaps youتَتَّقُونَmay guard (yourselves)**الَّذِيwhoجَعَلَmadeلَكُمُfor youالْأَرْضَthe earthفِرَاشًاa bedوَالْسَّمَاءَand the skyبِنَاءًa canopyوَأَنزَلَand sent downمِنَfromالسَّمَاءِthe skyمَاءًwaterفَأَخْرَجَso brought forthبِهِthrough itمِنَfromالثَّمَرَاتِthe fruitsرِزْقًاprovisionلَكُمْfor youفَلَاSo do notتَجْعَلُواmakeلِلَّهِfor Allahأَندَادًاequalsوَأَنْتُمْand youتَعْلَمُونَknow﴾][ البَقَرَةِ[Al-Baqarah::٢١21--٢٢22..
as evidence: ﴿ O you who have believed, worship your Lord who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous. He who made for you the earth a bed and the sky a canopy, and sent down from the sky rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you, so do not make equals to Allah while you know ﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 21 - 22].
أَمَّاAs forهُنَاhereفَفِيis inبَابِthe chapterالْصِّفَاتِof attributes::﴿[فَلَاSo do notتَضْرِبُواstrikeلِلَّهِfor Allahالْأَمْثَالَthe examples)،);فَتَقُولُواso you sayمَثَلًاfor example::إِنَّIndeedيَدَthe handاللَّهِof Allahمَثَلٌlikeيَدٌthe handكَذَاsuch and suchوَجْهٌa faceاللَّهِof Allahمَثَلٌlikeوَجْهٌa faceكَذَاsuch and suchوَandذَاتٌthe essenceاللَّهِof Allahمَثَلٌlikeالذَّاتُthe essenceالْفُلَانِيَّةُthe such and such......
