وَٱلْجَوَابُAnd the answerعَلَىtoهَٰذَاthisأَنَّis toنَقُولَsay::عَدَلَdivertedعَنْfromٱلتَّعْبِيرِthe expressionبِٱلْفُلْكِof the shipوَٱلسَّفِينَةُand the boatإِلَىtoٱلتَّعْبِيرِthe expressionبِذَاتِof the sameأَلْوَاحٍplanksوَدُسُرٍand nails؛;لِوُجُوهٍfor three reasonsثَلاَثَةٍthree
And the answer to this is to say: He diverted from the expression of the ship to the expression of the same planks and nails; for three reasons:
ٱلْوَجْهُThe first reasonٱلْأَوَّلُis::مُرَاعَاةًTaking into considerationلِلْآيَاتِthe versesوَفَوَاصِلِهَاand their endings;فَلَوْIf he had said,قَالَsaid::حَمَلْنَـٰهُWe carried itعَلَىonفُلْكٍ؛a ship;لَمْit would not haveتَتَنَاسَبَmatchedهَذِهِthisٱلْآيَةُverseمَعَwithمَاwhatبَعْدَهَاfollows itوَلَاnorمَاwhatقَبْلَهَا.preceding it.
The first reason is taking into consideration the verses and their endings; if he had said: We carried it on a ship; this verse would not have matched what follows it nor what precedes it.
وَلَوْAnd ifقَالَsaid::عَلَىonسَفِينَةٍ؛a boat;كَذَٰلِكَ،likewise,لَـٰكِنbutمِنْforأَجْلِthe sake ofتَنَاسُبِmatchingٱلْآيَاتِthe versesفِيinفَوَاصِلِهَاtheir endingsوَفِيand inكَلِمَاتِهَاtheir wordsقَالَ:he said:﴿﴿عَلَىonذَاتِthe sameٱلْأَلْوَاحِplanksوُدُسُرٍ.and nails.
If he had said: on a ship; likewise, but for the sake of matching the verses in their endings and in their words, he said: on the same planks and nails.
ٱلْوَجْهُThe second reasonٱلثَّانِيis::مِنْforأَجْلِthe sake ofأَنَّthatيَتَعَلَّمُpeople learnٱلنَّاسُthe people,كَيْفَhowيَصْنَعُونَthey makeٱلسُّفُنَ،ships,وَبَيَانٍand to indicateأَنَّهَاthat they areمِنْfromٱلْأَلْوَاحِthe planksوَٱلْمَسَامِيرِ،and the nails,وَلِهَٰذَاand thusقَالَsaidٱللَّهُGodتَعَالَى:the Most High:﴿﴿وَلَقَدْAnd indeedتَرَكْنَـٰهَاWe left itءَايَةًas a signفَهَلso is thereمِنْanyمُّذَّكِّرٍreminder?"﴾﴾[[ٱلْقَمَرِ:Al-Qamar:١٥]15]
The second reason is for people to learn how they make ships, and to indicate that they are made from planks and nails, and thus God Almighty said: "And indeed We left it as a sign, so is there any reminder?" [Al-Qamar: 15]
فَأَبْقَىٰSo He keptٱللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Most Highعِلْمَهَاits knowledgeآيَةًas a signلِلْخَلْقِfor creationيَصْنَعُونَthey makeكَمَاasأَلْهَمَHe inspiredٱللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Most Highنُوحًا.Noah.
So He kept its knowledge as a sign for creation to make as He inspired Allah the Most High to Noah.
ٱلْوَجْهُThe third reasonٱلثَّالِثُis::ٱلْإِشَارَةُto indicateإِلَىtoقُوَّتِهَاits strengthحَيْثُwhereكَانَتْit wasمِنْfromأَلْوَاحٍplanksوَدُسُرٍ،and nails,وَٱلتَّنْكِيرُAnd the noun hereهُنَاhereلِلْتَّعْظِيمِ.is for glorification.
The third reason is to indicate its strength where it was made of planks and nails, and the noun here is for glorification.
وَرُوعِيَتْAnd attention was givenٱلْتَّرْكِيزُto focusعَلَىonمَادَّتِهَاits materialوَنَظِيرٌand similarذَٰلِكَthatفِيinذِكْرِmentioningٱلْوَصْفِthe descriptionدُونَwithoutٱلْمَوْصُوفِthe describedقَوْلُهُhis sayingتَعَالَى:the Most High:﴿﴿أَنِthatٱعْمَلُworkسَبِغَتِهَاof armor))[[سَبَأ:Saba:١١]11]
And attention was given to focus on its material, and similar to that in mentioning the description without the described is his saying the Most High: "that you work the armor" [Saba: 11]
وَلَمْAnd notيَقُلْsayدُرُوعًا،armor,مِنْforأَجْلِthe sake ofٱلْعِنَايَةِpaying attentionبِفَائِدَةٍto the benefit ofهَذِهِtheseٱلدُّرُوعِ،armor,وَهِيَand theyأَنْareتَكُونَbeسَابِغَةًcomplete;تَامَّةً؛perfect;فَهَذِهِthis is similar.
And He did not say armor, for the sake of paying attention to the benefit of these armors, which are to be complete and perfect; this is similar.
وَقَوْلُهُ:And his saying:﴿﴿تَجْرِي"That it runsبِأَعْيُنِنَا)؛under Our eyes;"نَقُولُWe sayفِيin itمَاwhatقُلْنَاهُwe have saidفِيinقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَى:the Most High:﴿﴿فَإِنَّكَ"For indeed, youبِأَعْيُنِنَا)are under Our eyes;"[[الطُّورِ:Al-Tur:٤٨]48]
And his saying: "That it runs under Our eyes;" We say in it what we have said in His saying: "For indeed, you are under Our eyes;" [Al-Tur: 48]
ٱلْآيَةُThe third verse:ٱلثَّالِثَةُis::قَوْلُهُ:His saying:﴿﴿وَأَلْقَيْتُ"And I castعَلَيْكَupon youمَحَبَّةٌloveمِّنِّيfrom Me,وَلِتُصْنَعَand to be madeعَلَىuponعَيْنِيMy sight"﴾﴾[[طَهَ:Taha:٣٩]39]
The third verse: "And I cast upon you love from Me, and to be made upon My sight" [Taha: 39].
