وَنَحْنُAnd weقَدْhaveقَرَّرْنَاdecidedأَنَّهُthatإِذَاifعُبِّرَexpressedبِـby(مَا)(what)عَمَّabout whatيُعْقَلُ؛is understood;فَإِنَّهُthen itيُلاحَظُis observedفِيهِin itمَعْنَىthe meaningالصِّفَةِof the attributeلَاnotمَعْنَىthe meaningالْعَيْنِof the eyeوَالشَّخْصِand the personوَمِنْهُAnd from itقَوْلُهُis His statementتَعَالَى:(the Exalted) :﴿فَانْكِحُوا(Then marry)مَاwhatطَابَis pleasingلَكُمْto youمِّنَofالنِّسَاءِthe women[النِّسَاءِ: ٣]،[Women: 3],وَلَمْAnd did notيَقُلْ:say:(مِن)؛(from);لِأَنَّهُbecause itلَيْسَis notالْمُرَادَthe intendedعَيْنٌexactهَذِهِthisالْمَرْأَةُ،woman,وَلَكِنَّbutالْمُرَادَthe intendedالصِّفَةُ.attribute.
And we have decided that if it is expressed by (what) about what is understood; then it is observed in it the meaning of the attribute, not the meaning of the eye and the person. And from it is His statement: (Then marry what is pleasing to you of the women [Women: 3],) and He did not say: (from); because the intended is not the exact woman, but the intended is the attribute.
فَهُنَاHereقَالَHe said:لِمَاFor whatخَلَقْتُ؛I created;أَيْ:that is:هَذَاthisالمَوْصُوفُdescribedالْعَظِيمُgreatالَّذِيthatأَكْرَمْتُهُI honored himبِأَنَّنِيby that Iخَلَقْتُهُcreated himبِيدِي،with My hands,وَلَمْand did notيَقْصِدْintendلِمَنْfor whomخَلَقْ؛I created;أَيْ:that is:لِهَذَاfor thisالْآدَمِيِّhumanبِعَيْنِهِ.specifically.
Here He said: For what I created; that is: this great described whom I honored by that I created him with My hands, and did not intend for whom I created; that is: for this human specifically.
هِيَIt isكَقَوْلِlike the sayingالْقَائِلِ:of the speaker:كَتَبْتُI wroteوَقَوْلِهِ:and His saying:لِمَاfor whatخَلَقْتُI createdبِيَدَيَّ) :with My hands):بِالْقَلَمِ،with the pen,وَالْقَلَمُand the penآلَةٌa toolالْكِتَابَةِof writingوَتَقُولُ:And you say:صَنَعْتُI madeهَذَاthisبِيدِي؛with My hands;فَالْيَدُso the handهُنَاhereآلَةٌis a toolالصَّنْعِ.of making.
It is like the saying of the speaker: I wrote and His saying: For what I created with My hands): with the pen, and the pen is a tool of writing. And you say: I made this with My hands; so the hand here is a tool of making.
لِمَاFor whatخَلَقْتُI createdبِيَدَيَّ؛with My hands;يَعْنِي:meaning:أَنَّthatاللَّهَAllahعَزَّوَجَلَّGlorified and ExaltedخَلَقَcreatedآدَمَAdamبِيَدِهِ،with His hand,وَهُنَاand hereقَالَ:said:بِيَدَيَّ،with My hands,وَهِيَand it isصِيغَةٌformتَثْنِيَةٌ،of dual,وَحُذِفَتْand the noon was omittedالنُّونُthe noonمِنَfromالتَّثْنِيَةِthe dualمِنَofأَجَلٍfor the addition;كَمَاasيُحْذَفُit is omittedالتَّنْوِينُthe tanweenنَحْنُweعِنْدَمَاwhenنُعَرِّبُwe conjugateالْمُثَنَّىthe dualوَجَمْعَand pluralالْمُذَكَّرِmasculineالسَّالِمِ؛tabulated;نَقُولُ:we say:النُّونُthe noonعِوَضٌis in place ofالتَّنْوِينِthe tanweenفِيinالْاسْمِthe nounالْمُفْرَدِsingularوَالْعَوْضُand the substituteلَهُfor itحُكْمٌcommandالْمُعَوَّضِ؛the replaced;فَكَمَاSo asأَنَّthatالتَّنْوِينُthe tanweenيُحْذَفُis omittedعِندَatالإِضَافَةِ؛the addition;فُنونُSo the noonالتَّثْنِيَةِof the dualوَالْجَمْعُand the pluralتُحْذَفُare omittedعِندَatالإِضَافَةِ.the addition.
For what I created with My hands; meaning that Allah, Glorified and Exalted, created Adam with His hand, and here He said: with My hands, and it is in the dual form, and the noon was omitted from the dual for the addition; as the tanween is omitted when we conjugate the dual and masculine plural; we say: the noon is in place of the tanween in the singular noun and the substitute has the rule of that which is replaced; so as the tanween is omitted at the addition; the noon of the dual and plural is omitted at the addition.
فِيInهَذِهِthisالْآيَةِverseتَوْبِيخٌis a reprimandلِإِبْلِيسَto Satanلِمَاforتَرَكَهُhis leavingالسَّجْدَةَthe prostrationلِمَاfor whatخَلَقَcreatedاللَّهُAllahبِيَدِهِ،with His hand,وَهُوَand he isآدَمُAdamعَلَيْهِupon himالصَّلَاةُthe prayerوَالسَّلاَمُ.and peace.
In this verse there is a reprimand to Satan for his leaving the prostration for what Allah created with His hand, and he is Adam, upon him be peace.
وَفِيهَاAnd in itإِثْبَاتٌthere is affirmationلِصِفَةِfor the attributeالْخَلْقِ:of creation:﴿لِمَا(For whatخَلَقْتُ).I created).وَفِيهَا:And in it:إِثْبَاتٌthere is affirmationالْيَدَيْنِthe two handsلِلَّهِfor AllahسُبْحَانَهُGlorifiedوَتَعَالَىand Exaltedالْيَدَيْنِthe handsاللَّتَيْنِthat areبِهُمَاby whichخَلَقَcreated
And in it, there is an affirmation of the attribute of creation: (For what I created). And in it: there is affirmation of the two hands for Allah, Glorified and Exalted, the hands by which He created.
