وَهَذِهِAnd thisالْآيَةُverseتَعْلِيلٌexplanationلِـforالْآيَةِthe verseالَّتِيthatقَبْلَهَاpreceding itوَandبَيَانٌclarificationلِعَاقِبَتِهَاof its consequences
And this verse is an explanation for the preceding verse and a clarification of its consequences:
يَا أَيُّهَاOالَّذِينَthose whoآمَنُواhave believedلِمَWhyتَقُولُونَdo you sayمَاwhatلَاnotتَفْعَلُونَyou do
O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do?
كَبُرَIt is greatly hatefulمَقْتًىa disdainعِندَwithاللَّهِAllahأَنَّthatتَقُولُواyou sayمَاwhatلَاnotتَفْعَلُونَyou do
It is greatly hateful with Allah that you say what you do not do.
فَإِنَّFor indeedهَذَاthisمِنَis amongأَكْبَرِthe greatestالْأُمُورِmattersأَنْthatيَقُولَa person saysالْإِنْسَانُa humanمَاwhatلَاnotيَفْعَلُhe does
For indeed, this is among the greatest matters that a person says what he does not do.
وَجْهُAnd the aspectذَٰلِكَof thatأَنَّهُis thatيُقَالُit is saidإِذَاifكُنتَyou wereتَقُولُto sayالشَّيْءَthe thingوَلَاand notتَفْعَلَهُyou do it
And the aspect of that is that it is said: If you are saying something and not doing it; then you are in one of two conditions.
إِمَّاEitherكَاذِبٌliedفِيمَاin whatتَقُولُyou sayوَلَٰكِنَّكَbut youتَخَوِّفُfearالنَّاسَthe peopleفَتَقُولُthen you sayلَهُمْto themالشَّيْءَthe thingوَلَيْسَand is notبِحَائِقَةٍa realityأَوْOrأَنْتَthat you areمُسْتَكْبِرٌarrogantعَمَّاabout whatتَقُولُyou sayتَأْمُرُcommandالنَّاسَthe peopleبِهِwith itوَلَاand notتَفْعَلَهُyou do itوَتَنْهَىand you forbidالنَّاسَthe peopleعَنْهُabout itوَتَفْعَلَهُand you do it
Either you are lying in what you say, but you frighten the people, so you say to them the thing, and it is not a reality, or you are arrogant about what you say; you command people with it and do not do it, and you forbid people about it and do it.
وَفِيAnd inالْآيَةِthe verseمِنَthere areالصِّفَاتِattributesالْمَقْتِdisdainوَأَنَّهُand thatيَتَفَاوَتُvaries
And in the verse are attributes: disdain, and that it varies.
وَمِنَAnd fromالْنَّاحِيَةِthe perspectiveالْمَسْلَكِيَّةِbehavioralالْتَّحْذِيرِthe warningمِنْfromأَنْthatيَقُولَa person saysالْإِنْسَانُthe humanمَاwhatلَاnotيَفْعَلُhe does
And from the behavioral perspective: the warning against a person saying what he does not do.
آيَاتٌVersesصِفَةٌof descriptionالْمَجِيءُof comingوَالإِتِيَانُand coming
Verses of the description of coming and coming:
الشَّرْحُExplanation:ذَكَرَHe mentionedالْمُؤَلِّفُthe authorرَحِمَهُmay he have mercyاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Exaltedلِإِثْبَاتِto affirmصِفَةِthe attributeالْمَجِيءِof coming
Explanation: The author, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned to affirm the attribute of coming.
آيَاتٌVersesأَرْبَعٌfour
Four verses.
الْآيَةُThe first verseالأُولَىthe firstقَوْلُهُis his sayingهَلDoيَنظُرُونَthey lookإِلَّاexceptأَنْthatيَأْتِيَهُمُHe comes to themاللَّهُAllahفِيinظُلَلٍcloudsمِّنَofالْعَمَاءِdarknessوَandالْمَلَائِكَةُthe angelsوَandقُضِيَthe matter was decreedالْأَمْرُthe command
The first verse: His saying: "Do they not look except that Allah comes to them in clouds of darkness, and the angels, and the matter is decreed?"
