الْوَجْهُThe faceالثَّالِثُthird::أَنْthatهَذِهِthisالْجُمَلَةُsentenceعَلَىonتَقدِيرٍestimationشَرْطٍcondition؛;أَيٌّthat is::
The third aspect is that this sentence is conditional; that is:
فَجَزَاؤُهُSo his rewardجَهَنَّمُHellخَالِدًاeternalفِيهَاin itإِنْifجَازَاهُhe is rewarded
His reward is Hell, where he will be eternal, if he is rewarded.
وَفِيAnd inهَذَاthisنَظَرٌthere is consideration::فَأَيٌّSo whatفَائِدَةٌbenefitفِيinقَوْلِهِhis saying::﴿﴿فَجَزَاؤُهُSo his rewardجَهَنَّمُHell؛;مَاas long asدَامَthe meaning isالْمَعْنَىٰthe meaningإِنْifجَازَاهُhe is rewarded
And in this there is consideration: So what benefit is there in his saying: 'So his reward is Hell,' as long as the meaning is 'if he is rewarded'?!
فَنَحْنُSo weالْآنَnowنَسْأَلُask::إِذَاIfجَازَاهُhe is rewarded؛;فَهَلthen isهَذَاthisجَزَاؤُهُhis reward؟?
So we now ask: If he is rewarded; then is this his reward?
فَإِذَاSo ifقِيلَit is said::نَعَمyes؛;فَمَعْنَاهُthen it meansأَنَّهُthat heصَارَbecameخَالِدًاeternalفِيinالنَّارِthe fire,,فَتَعُودُthen the problem returnsالْمُشْكِلَةُthe problemمَرَّةًagainأُخْرَىagain,,وَلَاand notنَتَخَلَّصُwe get rid!!!!
So if it is said: yes; then it means that he has become eternal in the fire, then the problem returns again, and we cannot get rid!!
فَهَذِهِSo theseثَلَاثَةٌthreeأَجْوِبَةٌanswersلَاdo notتَسْلَمُpassمِنَfromالِاعْتِرَاضِthe objection
So these three answers do not pass without objection.
الْوَجْهُThe aspectالرَّابِعُfourth::أَنْthatهَذَاthisسَبَبٌis a cause,,وَلَكِنbutإِذَاifوُجِدَfoundمَانِعٌobstacle؛;لَمْdoes notيُنفَذِtake effectالسَّبَبُthe cause؛;كَمَاasنَقُولُwe say::الْقُرَابَةُKinshipسَبَبٌis a causeلِلْإِرْثِfor inheritance؛;فَإِذَاifكَانَisالْقَرِيبُthe relativeرَقِيقًاa slave؛;لَمْdoes notيَرِثْinherit؛;لِوُجُودِdue to the presenceالْمَانِعِof the obstacleوَهُوَand it isالرَّقُّslavery
The fourth aspect is that this is a cause; but if an obstacle is found, the cause does not take effect; as we say: Kinship is a cause for inheritance; if the relative is a slave; he does not inherit; due to the presence of the obstacle, and it is slavery.
فَنَقُولُSo we say::هَذَاThisالْفِعْلُactسَبَبٌis a causeلِلْخُلُودِfor eternity؛;وَإِذَاand ifكَانَisالْفَاعِلُthe doerمُؤْمِنًاa believer؛;فَلَاthen does notيَخْلُدُwill remain eternalفِيinالنَّارِthe fire
So we say: This act is a cause for eternity; and if the doer is a believer; then does not remain eternal in the fire.
وَلَكِنButيُرَدُّit is repliedعَلَيْنَاto usالإِشْكَالُthe problemمِنْfromوَجْهٍan aspectآخَرَanother,,وَهُوَand it isمَاwhatالْفَائِدَةُthe benefitمِنْofهَذَاthisالْوَعِيدُthreat
But it is replied to us from another aspect, which is: what is the benefit of this threat?
فَنَقُولُSo we say::الْفَائِدَةُthe benefitأَنْis thatالْإِنْسَانُthe personالَّذِيwhoيَقْتُلُkillsمُؤْمِنًاa believerمُتَعَمِّدًاdeliberatelyقَدْhasفَعَلَdoneالسَّبَبُthe causeالَّذِيthatيَخْلُدُwill remain eternalبِهِby himفِيinالنَّارِthe fire،,وَحِينَئِذٍand thenيَكُونُthere isوُجُودُthe presenceالْمَانِعُof the obstacleمُحْتَمَلًاlikely؛;قَدْmayيُوْجَدُexist،,وَقَدْand mayلَاnotيُوْجَدُexist؛;فَهُوَso heعَلَىis onخَطَرٍdangerجِدًّاvery,,وَلِهَذَاand for thisقَالَsaidالنَّبِيُّthe Prophet ﷺ peace be upon him::«"لَنْwill notيَزَالَcease to beالْمُؤْمِنُthe believerفِيinفُسْحَةٍspaceمِنْofدِينِهِhis religionمَاas long asلَمْdoes notيُصِبْstrikeحَرَامًاa forbidden thing(۱)(1)إِذَاIfأَصَابَhe strikesدَمًاblood
So we say: The benefit is that the person who deliberately kills a believer has committed the cause that leads him to remain eternal in the fire, and then the presence of the obstacle is likely; it may exist, and may not exist; so he is on very dangerous ground, and for this reason, the Prophet ﷺ said: "The believer will not cease to be in a space of his religion as long as he does not strike something forbidden (1). If he strikes blood (forbidden), azaan is feared; he may narrow his religion (1)."
