الإنسانُThe humanمَهْمَاno matter howكَثُرَincreasedذَنْبَهُhis sinsإِذَاifأَحْدَثَhe innovatesلِكُلِّfor everyذَنبٍsinتَوْبَةً؛repentance;فَإِنَّfor indeedاللَّهَAllahتَعَالَىٰMost Highيُحِبُّهُloves himوَالْتَّائِبُand the one who repentsمَرَّةً وَاحِدَةًonceمِنْfromذَنْبٍhis sinوَاحِدٍoneمَحْبُوبٌlovedإِلَىtoاللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّThe Almighty and Majesticمِنْofبَابٍgateأَوْلَى؛more so;لِأَنَّbecauseمَنْwhoeverكَثُرَتْhas manyذُنُوبُهُhis sinsوَكَثُرَتْand has manyتَوْبَاتُهُhis repentanceيُحِبُّهُloves himاللَّهُ،Allah,فَمَنْso whoeverقَلَّتْhas littleذُنُوبُهُhis sinsكَانَتْisمَحَبَّةَthe loveاللَّهِof Allahلَهُfor himبِالتَّوْبَةِthrough repentanceمِنْmore so;بَابٍgateأَوْلَى.more so.
No matter how many sins a person has, if he repents for each sin, Allah the Most High loves him, and the one who repents once from one sin is loved by Allah, the Almighty, all the more so; because whoever has many sins and many repents, Allah loves him, so whoever has few sins, the love of Allah for him through repentance is all the more so.
وَقَوْلُهُ:And His saying:﴿[وُيُحِبُّHe lovesالْمُتَطَهِّرِينَthe purifiers:الَّذِينَThose whoيَتَطَهَّرُونَpurify themselvesمِنْfromالأَحْدَاثِimpuritiesوَمِنْand fromالأَنْجَاسِfilthفِيinأَبْدَانِهِمtheir bodiesوَمَاand whatيَجِبُmustتَطْهِيرُهُ.to be purified.
And His saying: "And He loves the purifiers: those who purify themselves from impurities and filth in their bodies and what must be purified."
وَهُنَاAnd hereجَمْعٌthere is a gatheringبَيْنَbetweenطَهَارَةِpurityالظَّاهِرِof the externalوَطَهَارَةِand purityالْبَاطِنِof the inner;طَهَارَةِpurificationالْبَاطِنِof the inside;بِقَوْلِهِ:by His saying:﴿[التَّوَّابِينَ،the repentant,وَالظَّاهِرِand the externalبِقَوْلِهِ:by His saying:﴿[الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ).the purifiers).
And here, there is a gathering between the purity of the external and the purity of the internal; the purity of the internal by His saying: "the repenting, and the external by His saying: "the purifiers."
وَفِيAnd inالْآيَةِthe verseمِنَthere areالْأَسْمَاءِnamesوَالْصِّفَاتِand attributesمَاwhatسَبَقَhas precededفِيinالَّتِيthe one thatقَبْلَهَا.was before it.
And in the verse, there are names and attributes that have preceded in the one that was before it.
الْآيَةُThe verseالْخَامِسَةُthe fifthقَوْلُهُ:His saying:﴿[قُلْSay,إِنifكُنتُمْyou areتُحِبُّونَyou loveاللَّهَAllah,فَاتَّبِعُونِيthen follow meيُحْبِبْكُمُHe will love youاللَّهَ)Allah)[آل عمران [Surah Al-Imran: ٣١].: 31].
The fifth verse is His saying: "Say, if you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you." [Surah Al-Imran: 31].
الِامْتِحَانُ؛The test;يُسَمِّيThe scholarsعُلَمَاءَof the predecessorsالسَّلَفِcall this verse:آيَةُthe verseالْمِحْنَةِ؛of trial;يَعْنِيmeaningلِأَنَّbecauseقَوْمًاa peopleادَّعَوْاclaimsأَنَّهُمْthat theyيُحِبُّونَloveاللَّهَAllahفَأَمَرَSo He commandedاللَّهَAllahنَبِيَّهُHis Prophetأَنْto sayيَقُولَto them:إِنifكُنتُمْyou areتُحِبُّونَyou loveاللَّهَ؛Allah;فَاتَّبِعُونِي،then follow me,وَهَذَاand thisتَحَدٍّis a challengeلِكُلِّto everyone
The test; the scholars of the predecessors call this verse: the verse of trial; meaning because a people claimed that they love Allah, so Allah commanded His Prophet to say to them: "If you love Allah, then follow me," and this is a challenge to everyone who claims to love Allah; to say to them: if you are sincere in your love for Allah, follow the Messenger;
فَمَنْSo whoeverأَحْدَثَinnovatesفِيinدِينِthe religionرَسُولِof the Messengerاللَّهِ ﷺof Allah (peace be upon him)مَاwhatلَيْسَis notمِنْهُ،of it,وَقَالَ:and he said:إِنَّنِيI loveأُحِبُّI loveاللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُand His Messengerبِمَاwith whatأَحْدَثَتَهُ؛he invented;قُلْنَاwe said to him:هَذَاthisكَذِبٌis a lie;لَوْifكَانَتْwasمَحَبَّتُكَyour loveصَادِقَةً؛sincere;لَاتَّبَعْتَyou would have followedالرَّسُولَthe Messengerعَلَيْهِpeace be upon himالصَّلَاةُand prayerوَالسَّلاَمُand peaceوَلَمْand notتَتَقَدَّمْproceedبَيْنَbeforeيَدَيَّmy handsبِإِدْخَالِby introducingشَيْءٍsomethingفِيinشَرِيعَتِهِhis legislationلَيْسَis notمِنْ دِينِهِ؛of his religion;فَكُلُّSo everyoneمَنْwhoكَانَwasأَتْبَعَfollowedلِلرَّسُولِthe Messengerاللَّهِ ﷺ؛of Allah (peace be upon him);كَانَwasلِلَّهِfor Allahأَحَبُّ.loved.
So whoever innovates in the religion of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) what is not of it, and says: I love Allah and His Messenger with what he innovated; we said to him: this is a lie; if your love was sincere, you would have followed the Messenger (peace be upon him) and not preceded him by introducing something in his legislation that is not part of his religion; so everyone who follows the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is loved for Allah.
