وَلَـٰكِنَButإِذَاifقَالَsaidقَائِلٌa speaker:إِذَاifكَانَwasاللَّهُGodهُوَheالرَّزَّاقُthe Provider؛فَهَلْthen doesأَسْعَىI seekلِطَلَبِto seekالرِّزْقِprovision،أَوْorأَبْقَىI stayفِيinبَيْتِيmy houseوَيَأْتِينِيand it comes to meالرِّزْقُthe provision؟

But if a speaker said: If God is the Provider, should I seek provision or stay in my house and provision will come to me?

فَالْجَوَابُThe answerنَقُولُwe say:اِسْعَSeekلِطَلَبِto seekالرِّزْقِprovision؛كَمَاasأَنَّthatاللَّهَGodغَفُورٌforgiving؛فَلَيْسَso it is notمَعْنَىmeaningهَذَاthisأَنْthatلَاnotتَعْمَلُyou workوَتَتَسَبَّبُand causeلِلْمَغْفِرَةِfor forgiveness

The answer is: we say seek provision; as God is forgiving, this does not mean you do not work and cause for forgiveness.

أَمَّاAs forقَوْلُthe sayingالشَّاعِرِof the poet:جُنُونٌmadnessمِنْكَfrom youأَنْtoتَسْعَىyou seekلِرِزْقٍfor provisionوَيُرْزَقُand is providedفِيinغِشَاوَتِهِits coverالْجَنِينُthe fetusفَهَذَاso thisالْقَوْلُsayingبَاطِلٌis false

As for the poet's saying: 'Madness from you to seek provision while the fetus is provided in its cover', this saying is false.

وَأَمَّاAnd as forاستشهادهhis citationبِالْجَنِينِwith the fetus؛فَالْجَوَابُthe answer:أَنْis thatيُقَالُit is saidالْجَنِينُthe fetusلَاnotيُمْكِنُcanأَنْtoيُوَجَّهَbe directedإِلَيْهِto itطَلَبُa requestالرِّزْقِprovision؛لَأَنَّهُbecause itغَيْرُis notقَادِرٌcapable؛بِخِلَافِunlikeالْقَادِرِthe capable

And as for his citation of the fetus, the answer is that it is said the fetus cannot be directed to seek provision because it is not capable, unlike the capable.

وَلِهَذَاAnd for thisقَالَGod saidاللَّهُGodتَعَالَىthe Most High:﴿هُوَIt is Heالَّذِيwhoجَعَلَmadeلَكُمُfor youالْأَرْضَthe earthذَلُولًاsubmissiveفَامْشُواso walkفِيinمَنَاكِبِهَاits breadthوَكُلُواand eatمِنْfromرِزْقِهِHis provision[الملك[The Dominions:١٥]]15

And for this, God, the Most High, said: ‘It is He who made for you the earth submissive; so walk in its breadth and eat from His provision.’ [The Dominions: 15]

فَلَاSo there is noبَدٌّwayمِنْfromسَعْيٍseeking،وَأَنْand thatيَكُونَit isهَذَاthisالسَّعْيُseekingعَلَىaccording toوَفَقَthe lawالشَّرْعِthe Sharia

There is no way but to seek, and this seeking must be according to the law of the Sharia.

وَقَوْلُهُAnd His saying:﴿ذُوthe possessorالْقُوَّةِof strength:الْقُوَّةُStrength:صِفَةٌis a characteristicيَتَمَكَّنُthat enablesالْفَاعِلُthe doerبِهَاby itمِنْtoالْفِعْلِactionبِدُونِwithoutضَعْفٍweaknessوَالْدَّلِيلُand the proofقَوْلُهُis His sayingتَعَالَىthe Most High﴿﴿اللَّهُGodالَّذِيwhoخَلَقَكُمْcreated youمِّنْfromضَعْفٍweaknessثُمَّthenجَعَلَmadeمِنْfromبَعْدِafterضَعْفٍweaknessقُوَّةًa strength[الرُّوم[The Byzantines:٥٤]]54

And His saying: ‘The one who has strength: Strength is a characteristic that enables the doer to act without weakness, and the proof is His saying, the Most High: ‘God is the one who created you from weakness then made from weakness strength.’ [The Byzantines: 54]

وَلَيْسَتْAnd it is notالْقُوَّةُthe strengthهِيَit isالْقُدْرَةُthe ability؛لِقَوْلِهِfor His sayingتَعَالَىthe Most High:﴿وَمَاand whatكَانَis notاللَّهُGodلِيُعْجِزَهُto cause him to failمِنْfromشَيْءٍanythingفِيinالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensوَلَاand notفِيinالْأَرْضِthe earthإِنَّهُIndeedكَانَwasعَلِيمًاAll-KnowingقَدِيرًاAll-Powerful

And it is not the strength; it is the ability; for His saying: ‘Indeed, God does not cause him to fail in anything in the heavens or in the earth; indeed, He was All-Knowing, All-Powerful.’

فَالْقُدْرَةُThe abilityيُقَابِلُهَاis opposed byالْعَجْزُthe inability،وَالْقُوَّةُand the strengthيُقَابِلُهَاis opposed byالضُّعْفُthe weaknessوَالْفَرْقُAnd the differenceبَيْنَهُمَاbetween them:أَنَّthatالْقُدْرَةَthe abilityيُوَصَفُis describedبِهَاwith itذُوthe possessorالشُّعُورِof consciousness،وَالْقُوَّةُand the strengthيُوَصَفُis describedبِهَاwith itذُوthe possessorالشُّعُورِof consciousnessوَغَيْرِهِand others.

The ability is opposed by the inability, and the strength is opposed by the weakness. And the difference between them is that the ability is described with the possessor of consciousness, while the strength is described with the possessor of consciousness and others.

ثَانِيًاSecondly:أَنَّthatالْقُوَّةَthe strengthمُشْتَمِلَةٌincludesعَلَىonحَالَتَيْنِtwo states:الْحَالَةُthe first stateالأُولَىthe first،وَالْحَالَةُand the stateالثَّانِيَةُthe second،وَمَاwhatيُشْبِهُresemblesالضُّعْفَthe weaknessيَكُونُis.

Secondly: that strength includes two states: the first state, and the second state, and what resembles weakness is in the condition of strength.
