And he does not know at which hour he will die; for if he does not know in which land he dies, while he can control the place, likewise he does not know at which time and hour he will die.

So these five are the keys of the unseen that only Allah knows, and they are called keys of the unseen because knowledge of what is in the wombs is a key to this worldly life, and what a soul does not know what it will earn tomorrow is a key to future work, and what a soul does not know by which land it will die is a key to the hereafter; because when a person dies, he enters the world of the hereafter, and it has been previously stated about the knowledge of the hour and sending down the rain; hence, it is clear that all these keys are the principles for everything that comes after them; indeed, Allah is All-Knowing and All-Aware.

Then He, the Mighty and Majestic, said: "And He knows what is in the land and the sea" [Al-An'am: 59] this is a summary; so who can count the kinds that are in the land? How many are in it of the world of animals, insects, mountains, trees, rivers? Matters that only Allah, the Exalted, knows, and likewise the sea contains worlds that its Creator, the Exalted, knows; they say: the sea has three times more kinds than the land because the sea is more abundant than the dry land.

He said: "And what falls from a leaf except He knows it" [Al-An'am: 59]: this is a detail; so any leaf in any small or large tree, nearby or far away, that falls; Allah, the Exalted, knows it, and for this reason, the negating "what" and the added "from" came; to make that a definite text in generality, and the leaf that is born, He knows it from the first door; because a world that falls is a world of what He creates, the Exalted.
