As for the reward; it is equal to this; as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said; it is not obligatory from the equality in the reward to the equality in the sufficiency.

And for this, if he recited Al-Ikhlas three times in the prayer; it would not suffice him for the reading of Al-Fatiha.

The scholars said: The reason that it is equal to a third of the Quran is that the discussions in the Quran are news about Allah, news about the creatures, and rulings; these are three: 1 - news about Allah, they said: that the chapter: ‘Say: He is Allah, the One:’ includes it.

And this is the best that was said in its being equal to a third of the Quran.

And the reason for the revelation of this chapter: is that the polytheists said to the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him: 'Describe to us your Lord?'
