إِذًا؛So;الطَّرِيقُthe roadالَّذِيthatجَاءَتْcameبِهِwith itالرُّسُلُthe messengersهُوَisالصِّرَاطُthe straight pathالمُسْتَقِيمُ،the straight,الَّذِيthatلَيْسَis notفِيin itعُوْجٌcrookednessوَلَاnorأَمَّتٌcurveطَرِيقٌa pathمُسْتَقِيمٌstraightلَيْسَis notفِيin itاِنْحِرَافٌdeviationيَمِينًاto the rightوَلَاnorشَمَالًا:to the left:﴿[وَأَنَّAnd thatهَذَاthisصِرَاطِيis My pathمُسْتَقِيمًاstraight.فَاتَّبِعُوهُSo follow it.﴾][الْأَنْعَامِ:[Al-An'am:١٥٣].153].وَعَلَيْهِ؛Thus;فَيَكُونُit becomesالمُسْتَقِيمُthe straightصِفَةًattributeكَاشِفَةًrevealingعَلَىonتَفْسِيرِنَاour interpretationالصِّرَاطَthe pathبِأَنَّهُthat it isالطَّرِيقَthe roadالْوَاسِعَwideالَّذِيthatلَاnoاعْوِجَاجٌcrookednessفِيهِ؛in it;لِأَنَّbecauseهَذَاthisهُوَisالمُسْتَقِيمُ،the straight,أَوْorيُقَالُit is saidإِنَّهَاthat it isصِفَةٌattributeمُقَيَّدَةً؛restricted;لِأَنَّbecauseبَعْضَsomeالصِّرَاطَاتِpathsقَدْmayيَكُونَbeغَيْرَnotمُسْتَقِيمَةًstraightكَمَاasقَالَsaidتَعَالَى:Most High:﴿[فَاهْدُوهُمْSo guide themإِلَىtoصِرَاطِthe path ofالْجَحِيمِ،the Hellfire *وَ قِفُوهُمْAnd stop themإِنَّهُمIndeed theyمَّسْئُولُونَwill be questioned)الصَّافَّاتِ:[As-Saffat:٢٣23- ٢٤]،- 24],وَهَذَاAnd thisالصِّرَاطُpathغَيْرُnotمُسْتَقِيمٌ.straight.**قَوْلُهُ:His statement:«صِرَاطُ"The path ofالَّذِينَthose whoأَنْعَمَbestowedاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمupon themمِنَfromالنَّبِيِّينَthe prophetsوَandالصِّدِّيقِينَthe truthfulوَandالشُّهَدَاءِthe martyrsوَandالصَّالِحِينَ»:the righteous":صِرَاطٌPathالَّذِينَof those whoأَنْعَمَbestowedاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِم)؛upon them);أَي:that is:طَرِيقُهُمْ،their path,وَأَضَافَهُand added itإِلَيْهِمto themلِأَنَّهُمْbecause theyسَالِكُوهَا؛are the ones who follow it;فَهُمْTheyالَّذِينَwhoيَمْشُونَwalkفِيهَا؛in it;كَمَاasأَضَافَهُadded itاللَّهُGodإِلَىtoنَفْسِهِHimselfأَحْيَانًاsometimesوَandإِنَّكَIndeed youلَتَهْدِيsurely guideإِلَىtoصِرَاطٍa pathمُّسْتَقِيمٍstraight.**صِرَاطِThe path ofاللَّهِAllahالَّذِيwhichلَهُbelongs to Himمَاwhatفِيis inالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensوَandمَاwhatفِيis inالأَرْضِ"the earth"﴾][الشُّورَى:[Ash-Shura:٥٢52- ٥٣]؛- 53];بِاِعْتِبَارٍconsideringأَنَّهُthat itشَرَعَهُlegislated itوَوَضَعَهُand set itلِعِبَادَةِهِfor His servantsوَأَنَّهُand that itمُوَصِّلٌ إِلَيْهِ؛leads to Him;فَهُوَit isصِرَاطٌPathاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَى ،the Most High,بِاِعْتِبَارَيْنin two respects;وَصِرَاطٌand the pathالْمُؤْمِنِينَof the believers;بِاِعْتِبَارٍconsideringواحِدٍ؛one;صِرَاطٌthe pathاللَّهِof Allahبِاِعْتِبَارَيْنin two respectsهُمَا:are:أَنَّهُthat Heوَضَعَهُhas set itلِعِبَادَةِهِ،for His servants,وَأَنَّand thatمُوَصِّلٌ إِلَيْهِ.it leads to Him.وَصِرَاطٌAnd the pathالْمُؤْمِنِينَ؛of the believers;لِأَنَّهُمْbecause theyهُمْtheyالَّذِينَwhoيَسْلُكُونَهُfollow it alone.وَقَوْلُهُ:And His statement:«الَّذِينَ"those whoأَنْعَمَbestowedاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمupon them;النِّعْمَةُ:Blessing:كُلُّAllفَضْلٌgraceوَإِحْسَانٌand generosityمِنَfromاللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almightyعَلَىuponعِبَادِهِ؛His servants;فَهُوَit isنِعْمَةٌ،a blessing,وَكُلُّand everyمَاwhatبَنَاhe has givenمِنَofنِعْمَةٍ؛blessing;فَهُوَit isمِنْfromاللَّهِAllahوَنِعَمٌand blessingsاللَّهُAllahقَسْمَانُare two kindsعَامَّةٌgeneralوَخَاصَّةٌ،and specific,وَالْخَاصَّةُand the specificأَيْضًاalsoقَسْمَانِ:are two kinds:خَاصَّةٌspecificأَخَصُّ،more specific,وَخَاصَّةٌand specificأَعَمُّ.more general.
So, the road that the messengers came with is the straight path, which has no crookedness nor bending; a straight path that has no deviation to the right nor to the left: "And that this is My Straight Path, so follow it" [Al-An'am: 153]. Thus, the straight one becomes a revealing attribute on our interpretation of the path as the wide road that has no crookedness in it; because this is the straight one, or it can be said: it is a restricted attribute; because some paths may not be straight, as Allah Almighty said: "And guide them to the path of Hell, and stop them, for they will be questioned" [As-Saffat: 23-24], and this path is not straight. His saying: "The path of those upon whom Allah bestowed grace, from the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous": the path of those whom Allah has favored); meaning: their path, and He attributed it to them because they traversed it; they are the ones who walk in it; just as Allah occasionally attributed it to Himself: "Indeed you surely guide to a Straight Path, the path of Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth." [Ash-Shura: 52-53]; considering that He legislated it and established it for His servants, and that it leads to Him; it is the path of Allah in two respects and the path of the believers in one respect; the path of Allah in the two respects is that He established it for His servants, and that it leads to Him. And the path of the believers; because they are the ones who follow it alone. And His saying: "those upon whom Allah bestowed grace": the blessing: every favor and goodness from Allah, the Almighty, upon His servants; it is a blessing, and whatever we have of blessings is from Allah, and the blessings of Allah are two kinds, general and specific, and the specific also has two kinds: more specific and more general.
