وَكَانَ،AndصَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِblessوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,
And, may God bless him and grant him peace, he used to eat on the ground, wear the cloak, sit with the poor, walk in the markets, lean on his hand, not eat while reclining, and exact justice for himself.
يَأْكُلُhe used to eatعَلَىonالْأَرْضِthe ground
he used to eat on the ground
وَيَلْبَسُand wearالْعَبَاءَةَthe cloak
and wear the cloak
وَيُجَالِسُand sit withالْفُقَرَاءَthe poor
and sit with the poor
وَيَمْشِيand walkفِيinالْأَسْوَاقِthe markets
and walk in the markets
وَيَتَوَسَّدُand lean uponيَدَهُhis hand
and lean upon his hand
وَلَاand notيَأْكُلُeatمُتَّكِئاًwhile reclining
and not eat while reclining
وَيَقْتَصُّand exact justiceمِنْfromنَفْسِهِ،himself,
and exact justice from himself,
وَكَانَ،andصَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِblessوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,يَقُولُ:he used to say:
And, may God bless him and grant him peace, he used to say: I am only a slave, I eat as the slave eats and drink as he drinks.
إِنَّمَاIndeedأَنَاI amعَبْدٌa slaveآكُلُI eatكَمَاasيَأْكُلُeatsالْعَبْدُthe slaveوَأَشْرَبُand I drinkكَمَاasيَشْرَبُ،drinks,
Indeed I am a slave, I eat as the slave eats and I drink as he drinks,
وَلَوْand ifدُعِيتُI were invitedإِلَىtoذِرَاعٍa sheep's forearmلَأَجَبْتُI would surely accept
and if I were invited to a sheep's forearm I would surely accept, and if a trotter were gifted to me I would accept it.
وَلَوْand ifأُهْدِيَwere giftedإِلَيَّto meكُرَاعٌa trotterلَقَبِلْتُ.I would accept it.
and if a trotter were gifted to me I would accept it.
وَلَمْand neverيَأْكُلْdid he eatقَطُّeverوَحْدَهُalone
And he never ate alone, nor did he strike his slave.
وَلَاnorضَرَبَdid he strikeعَبْدَهُ،his slave,
nor did he strike his slave,
وَلَمْand neverيُرَ،was he seen,عَلَيْهِupon himالصَّلَاةُbe prayersوَالسَّلَامُ،and peace,
And upon him be prayers and peace, he was never seen drawing his leg in front of anyone, nor did anyone take his hand without him keeping his hand in theirs until that man was the one who let go of it.
أَدَارَdrawingرِجْلَهُhis legبَيْنَbetweenيَدَيْthe hands ofأَحَدٍanyone
drawing his leg in front of anyone
وَلَاnorأَخَذَdid takeبِيَدِهِby his handأَحَدٌanyoneفَانْتَزَعَand he pulled awayيَدَهُhis handمِنْfromيَدِهِhis handحَتَّىuntilيَكُونَhe isالرَّجُلُthe manهُوَheالَّذِيwhoيُرْسِلُهَا.releases it.
nor did anyone take his hand and he pulled his hand away from theirs until the man was the one who released it.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forكَرَمُهُ،his generosity,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,فِيatفَتْحِthe conquest ofمَكَّةَMecca
And as for his generosity, may God bless him and grant him peace, at the conquest of Mecca when they had killed his uncles, his men, his allies, and his supporters, harmed him, and wanted him dead, he met insolence with mildness and harm with endurance.
وَقَدْwhenقَتَلُواthey had killedأَعْمَامَهُhis unclesوَرِجَالَهُand his menوَأَوْلِيَاءَهُand his alliesوَأَنْصَارَهُand his supportersوَآذُوهُand harmed himوَأَرَادُواand wantedنَفْسَهُhis life
when they had killed his uncles, his men, his allies, and his supporters, and harmed him and wanted his life
فَكَانَso he used toيَلْتَقِيmeetالسَّفَهَfoolishnessبِالْحِلْمِwith forbearanceوَالْأَذَىand harmبِالِاحْتِمَالِ،with endurance,
so he used to meet foolishness with forbearance and harm with endurance,
وَكَانَandمَتَىwheneverكَانَhe wasأَكْرَمَmore generousوَعَنْهُمْand toward themأَصْفَحَmore forgivingكَانُواthey wereأَلْأَمَmore baseوَعَلَيْهِand against himأَلَحَّ،more persistent,
and the more generous and forgiving he was toward them, the more base and persistent against him they were.
وَالْعَجَبُand the wonder isأَنَّهُمْthat theyكَانُواwereأَحْلَمَthe most forbearingجِيلٍgenerationإِلَّاexceptفِيمَاin what wasبَيْنَهُمْbetween themوَبَيْنَهُand him
And the wonder is that they were the most forbearing generation except in matters between them and him, for whenever they marched toward him they would utter the foulest abuse, exceed all bounds in foolishness, pelt him with dung and blood, throw thorns upon his path, and scatter dust in his face.
فَإِنَّهُمْfor indeed theyكَانُواwereإِذَاwheneverسَارُواthey marchedإِلَيْهِtoward himأَفْحَشُواthey uttered foul abuseعَلَيْهِat himوَأَفْرَطُواand exceeded limitsفِيinالسَّفَهِfoolishnessوَرَمَوْهُand pelted himبِالْفَرْثِwith dungوَالدِّمَاءِand bloodوَأَلْقَوْاand threwعَلَىuponطَرِيقِهِhis pathالشَّوْكَthornsوَحَثُواand scatteredفِيinوَجْهِهِhis faceالتُّرَابَ،dust,
for indeed whenever they marched toward him they would utter foul abuse at him, exceed limits in foolishness, pelt him with dung and blood, throw thorns upon his path, and scatter dust in his face,
وَكَانَandلَاnotيَتَوَلَّىundertakeهَذَاthisمِنْهُof thatإِلَّاexceptالْعُظَمَاءُthe notablesوَالْأَخْوَالُand maternal unclesوَالْأَعْمَامُand paternal unclesوَالْأَقْرَبُand the closestفَالْأَقْرَبُ،then the next closest,
and none would undertake this against him except the notables, maternal uncles, paternal uncles, and the closest relatives, one after another.
فَإِذَاso whenكَانُواthey wereكَذَلِكَthusكَانَit wasأَشَدَّmore intenseلِلْغَيْظِfor wrathوَأَثْبَتَand firmerلِلْحِقْدِ،for resentment,
so when they were thus, it was more intense for wrath and firmer for resentment.
فَلَمَّاthen whenدَخَلَ،he entered,عَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلَامُ،be peace,مَكَّةَMeccaقَامَhe stoodفِيهِمْamong themخَطِيباًdelivering a speech
Then when he, upon him be peace, entered Mecca, he stood among them delivering a speech, praised God, mighty and majestic is He, and lauded Him, then said: I say as my brother Joseph said: No blame is on you today, God will forgive you and He is the most merciful of the merciful.
فَحَمِدَso he praisedاللَّهَ،God,عَزَّmightyوَجَلَّ،and majestic is He,وَأَثْنَىand laudedعَلَيْهِHimثُمَّthenقَالَ:he said:
so he praised God, mighty and majestic is He, and lauded Him, then said:
أَقُولُI sayكَمَاasقَالَsaidأَخِيmy brotherيُوسُفُJosephلَاnoتَثْرِيبَblameعَلَيْكُمُupon youالْيَوْمَtodayيَغْفِرُwill forgiveاللَّهُGodلَكُمْyouوَهُوَand He isأَرْحَمُthe most mercifulالرَّاحِمِينَ.of the merciful.
I say as my brother Joseph said: No blame is upon you today, God will forgive you and He is the most merciful of the merciful.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forمَحَاسِنُthe fine points ofقَوْلِهِhis speechالْحَقِّof truthفَإِنَّهُindeed heذَكَرَmentionedزَيْدَZaydبْنَson ofصُوحَانَSuhanفَقَالَ:and said:
And as for the fine points of his truthful speech, he mentioned Zayd ibn Suhan and said: Zayd, and what is Zayd! A limb of his shall precede him to Paradise.
زَيْدٌZaydوَمَاand what isزَيْدٌ،Zayd,يَسْبِقُهُshall precede himعُضْوٌa limbمِنْهُof hisإِلَىtoالْجَنَّةِ،Paradise,
Zayd, and what is Zayd! A limb of his shall precede him to Paradise,
فَقُطِعَتْand there was severedيَدُهُhis handيَوْمَon the day ofنَهَاوَنْدَNahawandفِيinسَبِيلِthe path ofاللَّهِGod
and his hand was severed on the day of Nahawand in the path of God.
وَوَعَدَAnd he promisedأَصْحَابَهُhis companionsبَيْضَاءَthe white city ofإِصْطَخْرَIstakhrوَبَيْضَاءَand the white city ofالْمَدَائِنِAl-Mada'in
And he promised his companions the white city of Istakhr and the white city of Al-Mada'in, and said to Adi ibn Hatim:
وَقَالَand he saidلِعَدِيِّto Adiبْنِson ofحَاتِمٍ:Hatim:
and he said to Adi ibn Hatim:
لَاlet notيَمْنَعُكَprevent youمَاwhatتَرَى،you see,يَعْنِيmeaningضَعْفَthe weakness ofأَصْحَابِهِhis companionsوَجَهْدَهُمْ،and their hardship,
Let not what you see—meaning the weakness of his companions and their hardship—prevent you, for as if the white city of Al-Mada'in has been conquered for them, and as if the woman traveling alone sets out from Al-Hira until she reaches Mecca without an escort.
فَكَأَنَّهُمْfor as if theyبِبَيْضَاءِat the white city ofالْمَدَائِنِAl-Mada'inقَدْindeedفُتِحَتْhas been conqueredعَلَيْهِمْ،for them,
for as if the white city of Al-Mada'in has been conquered for them,
وَكَأَنَّهُمْand as if theyبِالظَّعِينَةِwith the traveling womanتَخْرُجُsets outمِنْfromالْحِيرَةِAl-Hiraحَتَّىuntilتَأْتِيَshe reachesمَكَّةَMeccaبِغَيْرِwithoutخَفِيرٍ،an escort,
and as if the traveling woman sets out from Al-Hira until she reaches Mecca without an escort,
فَأَبْصَرَso he witnessedذَلِكَthatكُلَّهُall of itعَدِيٌّAdiوَقَالَand saidلِعَمَّارِto Ammarبْنِson ofيَاسِرٍ:Yasir:
so Adi witnessed all of that and said to Ammar ibn Yasir: The rebellious faction will kill you.
تَقْتُلُكَshall kill youالْفِئَةُthe factionالْبَاغِيَةُ،the rebellious,
The rebellious faction shall kill you.
فَكَانَso it wasكَمَاasقَالَhe saidحَتَّىuntilقَالَsaidمُعَاوِيَةُ:Muawiyah:
So it was as he said, until Muawiyah said: Indeed only the one who brought him out killed him.
إِنَّمَاindeed onlyقَتَلَهُkilled himمَنْthe one whoأَخْرَجَهُ.brought him out.
Indeed only the one who brought him out killed him.
وَضَلَّتْAnd went astrayنَاقَتُهُ،his she-camel,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,فَأَقْبَلَso he proceededيَسْأَلُaskingعَنْهَاabout it
And his she-camel, may God bless him and grant him peace, went astray, so he proceeded to ask about it. The hypocrites said: This is Muhammad telling us news of the heaven while he does not know where his she-camel is!
فَقَالَso saidالْمُنَافِقُونَ:the hypocrites:
so the hypocrites said:
هَذَاthis isمُحَمَّدٌMuhammadيُخْبِرُنَاtelling usعَنْaboutخَبَرِnews ofالسَّمَاءِthe heavenوَهُوَwhile heلَاnotيَدْرِيknowsأَيْنَwhereنَاقَتُهُ!his she-camel is!
This is Muhammad telling us news of the heaven while he does not know where his she-camel is!
فَصَعِدَso he ascendedالْمِنْبَرَthe pulpitفَحَمِدَand praisedاللَّهَGodوَأَثْنَىand laudedعَلَيْهِHimثُمَّthenقَالَ:he said:
So he ascended the pulpit, praised God, and lauded Him, then said: Indeed a man says in his house that Muhammad tells us news of the heaven while he does not know where his she-camel is.
إِنَّIndeedرَجُلاًa manيَقُولُsaysفِيinبَيْتِهِhis houseإِنَّthatمُحَمَّداًMuhammadيُخْبِرُنَاtells usعَنْaboutخَبَرِnews ofالسَّمَاءِthe heavenوَهُوَwhile heلَاnotيَدْرِيknowsأَيْنَwhereنَاقَتُهُ،his she-camel is,
Indeed a man says in his house that Muhammad tells us news of the heaven while he does not know where his she-camel is,
أَلَاnowوَإِنِّيand indeed Iلَاnotأَعْلَمُknowإِلَّاexceptمَاwhatعَلَّمَنِيhas taught meرَبِّيmy Lordعَزَّmightyوَجَلَّand majestic is Heوَقَدْand He hasأَخْبَرَنِيinformed meأَنَّهَاthat it isفِيinوَادِيvalleyكَذَاsuchوَكَذَاand suchتَعَلَّقَits halter is caughtزِمَامُهَاits halterبِشَجَرَةٍ.by a tree.
now behold, I know nothing except what my Lord, mighty and majestic is He, has taught me, and He has informed me that it is in such-and-such valley, its halter caught by a tree.
فَبَادَرَso rushedالنَّاسُthe peopleإِلَيْهَاtoward itوَفِيهِمْand among themزَيْدُZaydبْنُson ofأَرْقَمَArqamوَزَيْدُand Zaydبْنُson ofاللَّصِيتِAl-Laseetفَإِذَاand beholdهِيَit isكَذَلِكَ.thus.
So the people rushed toward it, and among them were Zayd ibn Arqam and Zayd ibn Al-Laseet, and behold, it was just as he said.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenاسْتَأْمَنَsought safe conductأَبُوAbuسُفْيَانَSufyanبْنُson ofحَرْبٍHarbإِلَيْهِ،to him,عَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلَامُ،be peace,أَمَرَhe orderedعَمَّهُhis uncleالْعَبَّاسَAl-Abbasأَنْthatيَأْخُذَهُhe take himإِلَىtoخَيْمَتِهِhis tentحَتَّىuntilيُصْبِحَ،morning comes,
And when Abu Sufyan ibn Harb sought safe conduct to him, upon him be peace, he ordered his uncle Al-Abbas to take him to his tent until morning.
فَلَمَّاthen whenصَارَhe wasفِيinقُبَّةِthe pavilion ofالْعَبَّاسِAl-Abbasنَدِمَhe regrettedعَلَىoverمَاwhatكَانَhad beenمِنْهُfrom himوَقَالَand saidفِيwithinنَفْسِهِ:himself:
Then when he was in the pavilion of Al-Abbas, he regretted what he had done and said to himself: What have I done? I surrendered with my own hand like this.
مَاwhatصَنَعْتُ؟have I done?دَفَعْتُI surrenderedبِيَدِيwith my handهَكَذَا،like this,أَلَاwhyكُنْتُhad I notأَجْمَعُgatheredجَمْعاًa forceمِنْofالْأَحَابِيشِAl-Ahabishوَكِنَانَةَand Kinanahوَأَلْقَاهُand met himبِهِمْwith themفَلَعَلِّيthen perhapsكُنْتُI might haveأَهْزِمُهُ!defeated him!
What have I done? I surrendered with my own hand like this, why had I not gathered a force from Al-Ahabish and Kinanah and met him with them, then perhaps I might have defeated him!
فَنَادَاهُso called out to himرَسُولُthe Messenger ofاللَّهِ،God,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,مِنْfromخَيْمَتِهِ:his tent:
So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, called out to him from his tent: Then God would have disgraced you, O Abu Sufyan.
إِذاًthenكَانَwouldاللَّهُGodيُخْزِيكَdisgrace youيَاOأَبَاAbuسُفْيَانَ.Sufyan.
Then God would have disgraced you, O Abu Sufyan.
فَقَالَso saidأَبُوAbuسُفْيَانَ:Sufyan:يَاOعَبَّاسُAbbasأَدْخِلْنِيbring me inعَلَىtoابْنِson ofأَخِيكَ.your brother.
So Abu Sufyan said: O Abbas, bring me in to your brother's son. Al-Abbas said to him: Woe to you, O Abu Sufyan, has the time not yet come for that?
فَقَالَso saidلَهُto himالْعَبَّاسُ:Al-Abbas:وَيْلَكَwoe to youيَاOأَبَاAbuسُفْيَانَSufyanمَاhasآنَcomeلَكَfor youذَلِكَ.that.
Al-Abbas said to him: Woe to you, O Abu Sufyan, has the time not yet come for that?
فَأَدْخَلَهُso he brought him inعَلَىtoرَسُولِthe Messenger ofاللَّهِ،God,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,فَقَالَ:and he said:
So he brought him in to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he said: O Messenger of God, there was something in my soul, and I testify that there is no god but God and that you are truly the Messenger of God.
يَاOرَسُولَMessenger ofاللَّهِGodقَدْindeedكَانَthere wasفِيinالنَّفْسِthe soulشَيْءٌsomethingوَأَنَاand IأَشْهَدُtestifyأَنْthatلَاnoإِلَهَgodإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُGodوَأَنَّكَand that you areرَسُولُMessenger ofاللَّهِGodحَقّاً.truly.
O Messenger of God, there was something in my soul, and I testify that there is no god but God and that you are truly the Messenger of God.
وَقَوْلُهُ،And his saying,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,لِمَاregarding whatيَكُونُwill beمِنْfromبَعْدِهِafter himمِمَّاof whatحَدَّثَnarratedبِهِitمُحَمَّدُMuhammadبْنُson ofعَبْدِAbdالرَّحْمَنِAl-Rahmanبْنِson ofأُذَيْنَةَUdhaynahعَنْfromسَلْمَانَSalmanبْنِson ofقَيْسٍQaysعَنْfromسَلْمَانَSalmanبْنِson ofعَامِرٍAmirعَنْfromسَلْمَانَSalmanالْفَارِسِيِّAl-Farsiقَالَ:who said:
And his saying, may God bless him and grant him peace, regarding what will happen after him, of what Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Udhaynah narrated from Salman ibn Qays from Salman ibn Amir from Salman al-Farsi who said:
قَالَsaidرَسُولُthe Messenger ofاللَّهِ،God,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ:and grant him peace:
The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Indeed I saw upon this pulpit of mine twelve men from Quraysh delivering a speech, all of them—two men from the offspring of Harb ibn Umayyah and ten from the offspring of Abu al-As ibn Umayyah.
إِنِّيIndeed Iرَأَيْتُsawعَلَىuponمِنْبَرِيpulpit of mineهَذَاthisاثْنَيْtwelveعَشَرَtenرَجُلاًmenمِنْfromقُرَيْشٍQurayshيَخْطُبُdelivering a speechكُلُّهُمْall of themرَجُلَانِtwo menمِنْfromوَلَدِoffspring ofحَرْبِHarbبْنِson ofأُمَيَّةَUmayyahوَعَشَرَةٌand tenمِنْfromوَلَدِoffspring ofأَبِيAbuالْعَاصِal-Asبْنِson ofأُمَيَّةَ.Umayyah.
Indeed I saw upon this pulpit of mine twelve men from Quraysh delivering a speech, all of them—two men from the offspring of Harb ibn Umayyah and ten from the offspring of Abu al-As ibn Umayyah.
ثُمَّthenالْتَفَتَhe turnedإِلَىtowardالْعَبَّاسِAl-Abbasوَقَالَ:and said:
Then he turned toward Al-Abbas and said: Their destruction will be at the hands of your sons.
هَلَاكُهُمْtheir destructionعَلَىatيَدَيْhands ofوَلَدِكَ.your sons.
Their destruction will be at the hands of your sons.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forجَمَالُهُhis beautyوَبَهَاؤُهُand his radianceوَمَحَاسِنُand the fine points ofوِلَادَتِهِ،his birth,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,فَمَاthen whatرُوِيَwas narratedعَنْfromعُثْمَانَUthmanبْنِson ofأَبِيAbuالْعَاصِal-Asقَالَ:who said:
And as for his beauty, his radiance, and the fine points of his birth, may God bless him and grant him peace, what was narrated from Uthman ibn Abi al-As who said:
أَخْبَرَتْنِيinformed meأُمِّيmy motherأَنَّهَاthat sheحَضَرَتْwas present withآمَنَةَAminahأُمَّmother ofالنَّبِيِّ،the Prophet,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,لَمَّاwhenضَرَبَهَاstruck herالْمَخَاضُ،labor pains,
My mother informed me that she was present with Aminah, mother of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, when labor pains struck her.
قَالَتْ:she said:جَعَلْتُI beganأَنْظُرُlookingإِلَىatالنُّجُومِthe starsتَتَدَلَّىdrawing nearحَتَّىuntilقُلْتُI saidلَتَقَعَنَّthey will surely fallعَلَيَّ،upon me,
She said: I began looking at the stars drawing near until I said they will surely fall upon me.
فَلَمَّاthen whenوَضَعْتُهُshe delivered himخَرَجَthere came forthمِنْهَاfrom herنُورٌa lightأَضَاءَthat illuminatedلَهُfor itالْبَيْتُthe houseوَالدَّارُand the dwellingحَتَّىuntilصِرْتُI becameلَاnotأَرَىseeingإِلَّاexceptنُوراً.a light.
Then when she delivered him, there came forth from her a light that illuminated the house and the dwelling for it, until I became seeing nothing except light.
قَالَ:he said:وَسَمِعْتُand I heardآمَنَةَAminahتَقُولُ:saying:لَقَدْindeedرَأَيْتُI sawوَهُوَwhile he wasفِيinبَطْنِيmy wombأَنَّهُthat heخَرَجَcame outمِنِّيfrom meنُورٌa lightأَضَاءَتْthat illuminatedلَهُfor itقُصُورُpalaces ofالشَّامِ،Al-Sham,
He said: And I heard Aminah saying: Indeed while he was in my womb I saw that there came out from me a light that illuminated for it the palaces of Al-Sham.
ثُمَّthenوُلِدَ،he was born,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,فَخَرَجَso he emergedمُعْتَمِداًrelyingعَلَىuponيَدَيْهِhis handsرَافِعاًraisingرَأْسَهُhis headإِلَىtowardالسَّمَاءِthe heavenكَأَنَّهُas if heيَخْطُبُwere delivering a speechأَوْorيُخَاطِبُ.addressing.
Then he was born, may God bless him and grant him peace, so he emerged relying upon his hands, raising his head toward the heaven as if he were delivering a speech or addressing.
وَرُوِيَAnd it was narratedعَنْfromأَنَسِAnasبْنِson ofمَالِكٍMalikقَالَ:who said:
And it was narrated from Anas ibn Malik who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was the bravest of people, the most handsome of people, and the most generous of people.
كَانَwasرَسُولُthe Messenger ofاللَّهِ،God,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,أَشْجَعَthe bravest ofالنَّاسِpeopleوَأَحْسَنَand the most handsome ofالنَّاسِpeopleوَأَجْوَدَand the most generous ofالنَّاسِ،people,
The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was the bravest of people, the most handsome of people, and the most generous of people.
مَاneverمَسَسْتُdid I touchبِيَدِيwith my handدِيبَاجاًbrocadeوَلَاnorحَرِيراًsilkوَلَاnorخَزّاًcoarse silkأَلْيَنَsofterمِنْthanكَفِّpalm ofرَسُولِthe Messenger ofاللَّهِ،God,صَلَّىmayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِbless himوَسَلَّمَ.and grant him peace.
I never touched with my hand brocade, silk, or coarse silk softer than the palm of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.
