فَصْلٌSection
Section
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالصَّلَاةُprayerعِنْدَatالْقُبُورِ،the graves,
And as for prayer at the graves,
وَالصَّلَاةُand prayerإِلَيْهَا،towards them,
and prayer towards them,
أَوْorاتِّخَاذُthe taking ofالْمَسَاجِدِmasjidsعَلَىoverالْقُبُورِ،the graves,
or the taking of masjids over the graves,
أَوْorإِيقَادُthe kindling ofالْمَصَابِيحِlampsعَلَيْهَا:upon them:
or the kindling of lamps upon them:
فَقَدْindeedصَحَّit has been authenticatedعَنِfromالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetصَلَّىmay Allah bestow peace and blessingsاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَand security
it has indeed been authenticated from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
وَعَنْand fromأَصْحَابِهِhis Companionsوَغَيْرِهِمْand othersمِنَfromالْأَئِمَّةِthe Imams
and from his Companions and others from the Imams,
فِيconcerningذَلِكَthatالنَّهْيُthe prohibitionوَالتَّغْلِيظُand the severe sternness
concerning that is the prohibition and the severe sternness,
وَلَعْنَةُand the cursing ofمَنْwhoeverيَفْعَلُdoesذَلِكَthat
and the cursing of whoever does that,
وَذِكْرُand the mentionأَنَّهُمْthat they areشِرَارُthe worstالْخَلْقِ،of creation,
and the mention that they are the worst of creation,
مَاof whatقَدِhas indeedاسْتَفَاضَbecome widespreadبَلْnayتَوَاتَرَreached the level of mutawatirعَنْfromأَهْلِthe peopleالْعِلْمِof knowledgeبِسُنَنِهِ،regarding his Sunnahs,
of what has indeed become widespread, nay, reached the level of mutawatir from the people of knowledge regarding his Sunnahs,
وَإِنْeven ifكَانَit is thatكَثِيرٌmanyمِنَofالنَّاسِthe peopleلَاdo notيَعْلَمُونَknowذَلِكَ.that.
even if many of the people do not know that.
فَرَوَىSo narratedجُنْدُبُJundubبْنُson ofعَبْدِAbdاللَّهِAllahالْبَجَلِيُّal-Bajaliقَالَ:who said:
So Jundub bin Abdullah al-Bajali narrated, saying:
سَمِعْتُI heardرَسُولَthe Messenger ofاللَّهِAllahصَلَّىmay Allah bestow peace and blessingsاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَand security
I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
قَبْلَbeforeأَنْthatيَمُوتَhe diedبِخَمْسٍby five [days]
five days before he died,
وَهُوَwhile heيَقُولُ:was saying:
while he was saying:
«إِنَّ"Indeed,مَنْthose whoكَانَwereقَبْلَكُمْbefore you
«Indeed, those who were before you
يَتَّخِذُونَused to takeقُبُورَthe graves ofأَنْبِيَائِهِمْtheir prophetsوَصَالِحِيهِمْand their righteous peopleمَسَاجِدَ،as masjids,
used to take the graves of their prophets and their righteous people as masjids,
أَلَاuniquelyفَلَاso do notتَتَّخِذُواtakeالْقُبُورَthe gravesمَسَاجِدَ،as masjids,
uniquely, do not take the graves as masjids,
فَإِنِّيfor indeed Iأَنْهَاكُمْforbid youعَنْfromذَلِكَ»that."
for indeed I forbid you from that."
رَوَاهُNarrated itمُسْلِمٌMuslimفِيinصَحِيحِهِhis Sahih
Muslim narrated it in his Sahih.
