وَفِيAnd inرِوَايَةٍa narrationلِمُسْلِمٍfor Muslim(١)(1)
And in a narration by Muslim (1)
عَنْfromابْنِIbnعُمَرَUmarقَالَ:he said:
from Ibn Umar, who said:
قَالَSaidرَسُولُMessenger ofاللَّهِAllahصَلَّىmay Allah blessاللَّهُHimعَلَيْهِand grantوَسَلَّمَ:him peace:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
«إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahيَنْهَاكُمْforbids you
"Indeed, Allah forbids you
أَنْthatتَحْلِفُواyou swearبِآبَائِكُمْ»by your fathers."
that you swear by your fathers."
قَالَSaidعُمَرُ:Umar:
Umar said:
فَوَاللَّهِSo by AllahمَاI have notحَلَفْتُswornمُنْذُsinceسَمِعْتُI heardرَسُولَMessenger ofاللَّهِAllahصَلَّىmay Allah blessاللَّهُhimعَلَيْهِand grantوَسَلَّمَ.him peace.
By Allah, I have not sworn by them since I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
وَعَنْAnd fromعُمَرَUmarرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwith himعَنْهُand from himأَنَّهُthat heقَالَ:said:
And from Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said:
لَاNoوَأَبِي.and by my father.
"No, and by my father."
فَقَالَThen saidرَسُولُMessenger ofاللَّهِAllahصَلَّىmay Allah blessاللَّهُhimعَلَيْهِand grantوَسَلَّمَ:him peace:
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
«مَهْ!"Desist!فَإِنَّهُFor indeedمَنْwhoeverحَلَفَswearsبِشَيْءٍby somethingدُونَother thanاللَّهِAllahفَقَدْthen certainlyأَشْرَكَ».he has committed Shirk."
"Desist! For whoever swears by something other than Allah has committed Shirk."
رَوَاهُNarrated itالْإِمَامُthe ImamأَحْمَدُAhmadفِيinمُسْنَدِهِhis Musnad(٢).(2).
Narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad (2).
وَعَنْAnd fromابْنِIbnعُمَرَUmarأَنَّهُthat heسَمِعَheardرَجُلًاa manيَقُولُ:saying:
And from Ibn Umar, that he heard a man saying:
لَاNoوَالْكَعْبَةِ.and by the Kaaba.
"No, and by the Kaaba."
فَقَالَThen saidابْنُIbnعُمَرَ:Umar:
Then Ibn Umar said:
لَاDo notتَحْلِفْswearبِغَيْرِby other thanاللَّهِ،Allah,
"Do not swear by other than Allah,
فَإِنِّيfor indeed IسَمِعْتُheardرَسُولَMessenger ofاللَّهِAllahصَلَّىmay Allah blessاللَّهُhimعَلَيْهِand grantوَسَلَّمَhim peaceيَقُولُ:saying:
for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying:
«مَنْ"Whoeverحَلَفَswearsبِغَيْرِby other thanاللَّهِAllahفَقَدْthen certainlyكَفَرَhe has disbelievedأَوْorأَشْرَكَ».committed Shirk."
"Whoever swears by other than Allah has disbelieved or committed Shirk."
رَوَاهُNarrated itالتِّرْمِذِيُّAt-Tirmidhi(٣)،(3),وَقَالَ:and said:حَدِيثٌA Hadithحَسَنٌ.Hasan (good).
Narrated by At-Tirmidhi (3), and he said: It is a Hasan Hadith.
وَعَنْAnd fromأَبِيAbuهُرَيْرَةَHurayrahرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwith himعَنْهُand from himقَالَ:he said:
And from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, he said:
قَالَSaidرَسُولُMessenger ofاللَّهِAllahصَلَّىmay Allah blessاللَّهُhimعَلَيْهِand grantوَسَلَّمَ:him peace:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
«لَا"Do notتَحْلِفُواswearبِآبَائِكُمْby your fathersوَلَاand notبِأُمَّهَاتِكُمْby your mothers
"Do not swear by your fathers and not by your mothers,
