سَبَقَهُHe was preceded byابْنُIbnالزُّبَيْرِAl-Zubayr
Ibn al-Zubayr preceded him,
قَالَ:saying:
saying:
سَبَقْتُكَ"I preceded youوَالْكَعْبَةَ.by the Kaaba."
"I preceded you by the Kaaba."
فَقَالَSo saidلَهُto himعُمَرُUmarرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwithعَنْهُ:him:
Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said to him:
لَوْIfعَلِمْتُI had knownأَنَّكَthat youتَعَمَّدْتَdid that intentionallyذَلِكَthatبِيَمِينِكَwith your oathلَضَرَبْتُكَ.I would have beaten you.
"If I had known you did that intentionally by your oath, I would have beaten you."

فَيَنْبَغِيIt is fittingلِلْمُسْلِمِينَfor the Muslimsأَنْtoيَعْرِفُواknowأُصُولَthe foundationsدِينِهِمْof their religion
It is fitting for Muslims to know the foundations of their religion,
وَهُوَand it isتَوْحِيدُthe Onenessاللَّهِof Allahوَعِبَادَتُهُand His worshipوَحْدَهُaloneلَاnoشَرِيكَpartnerلَهُ،to Him,
which is the Oneness of Allah and His worship alone with no partner to Him,
وَفُرُوعَand the branchesدِينِهِمْof their religionفِيinشَرْعِهِمْtheir legislationوَمِنْهَاجِهِمْ،and their methodology,
and the branches of their religion in their legislation and methodology,
فَذَلِكَfor that isمِنَfromالدِّينِthe religionالَّذِيwhichبَعَثَsentاللَّهُAllahبِهِwith itمُحَمَّدًاMuhammadصَلَّىmay Allah invoke peaceاللَّهُand blessingsعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ.and grant him peace.
for that is part of the religion with which Allah sent Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him.
فَنَسْأَلُSo we askاللَّهَAllahالْعَظِيمَthe Almighty
So we ask Allah the Almighty
أَنْtoيُوَفِّقَنَاgrant us successوَلِسَائِرِand allالْمُسْلِمِينَthe Muslims
to grant success to us and all Muslims
بِمَنِّهِby His favorوَكَرَمِهِand His generosityوَفَضْلِهِand His bounty
by His favor, generosity, and bounty,
وَهُوَand He isأَرْحَمُthe most mercifulالرَّاحِمِينَ.of the merciful.
and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.
