وَقَوْلُهُAnd His saying,{لِيَقْضِ{Let Your Lord decide,عَلَيْنَاupon us,رَبُّكَ}Your Lord}
And His saying: {Let Your Lord decide upon us}.
أَي:That is,يُمِيتُنَا،He brings about our death,وَهَكَذَاand likewise
That is, He brings about our death, and likewise.
قَالَSaidالْمُفَسِّرُونَthe interpreters,: مِثْلُ:: such as:السُّدِّيُّAl-Saddi,وَابْنُand IbnزَيْدٍZayd,وَغَيْرِهِمَا.and others.
The interpreters said: such as Al-Saddi, Ibn Zayd, and others.
قَالَSaidالسُّدِّيُّ:Al-Saddi:يَقْضِيHe decidesعَلَيْنَاupon usبِالْمَوْتِ،with death,وَقَالَand saidابْنُIbnزَيْدٍ:Zayd:الْقَضَاءُThe decisionهَاهُنَا:here is:الْمَوْتُdeath
Al-Saddi said: He decides upon us with death, and Ibn Zayd said: The decision here is death.
وَكَذَلِكَAnd similarlyقَالَsaidسَائِرُthe rest ofالْمُفَسِّرِينَthe interpreters,هَذَاthisكَقَوْلِهِis like His saying
And similarly, the rest of the interpreters said this, and it is like His saying.
{لَا{Thereيُقْضَىis no decisionعَلَيْهِمْupon themفَيَمُوتُواthat they dieوَلَاand notيُخَفَّفُis alleviatedعَنْهُمْfrom themمِنْofعَذَابِهَا}its punishment}
{There is no decision upon them that they die, nor is alleviated from them of its punishment}.
وَعَنِAnd concerningالْفَرَّاءَAl-Farra
And concerning Al-Farra,
فِيinقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَى:the Most High:{وَأَمَّا{And as forمَنْthose whoأُوتِيَwere givenكِتَابَهُhis bookبِشِمَالِهِ}in his left hand}
In His saying the Most High: {And as for those who were given their book in their left hand},
إِلَىup toقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَىthe Most High{يَا{OيَالَيْتَهَاI wish it wereكَانَتِa finality}
up to His saying the Most High: {O, I wish it were a finality}.
