الَّذِينَThose whoقَطَعُواcut offبِدَوَامِof eternityالنَّارِthe fire
Those who affirm the eternity of the fire.
قُلتُI said::وَالَّذِينَAnd those whoقَطَعُواaffirmبِدَوَامِthe eternity ofالنَّارِthe fire,,لَهُمْthey haveأَرْبَعَfourطُرُقٌways
I said: And those who affirm the eternity of the fire have four ways.
أَحَدُهَاOne of them::ظَنُّis the thoughtالإِجْمَاعِof consensus,,فَإِنَّfor indeedكَثِيرًاmanyمِنَofالنَّاسِthe peopleيَعْتَقِدُونَbelieveأَنَّthatهَذَاthisمَجْمَعٌis a consensusعَلَيْهِon it,,وَلَاand there is noخِلَافٌdisagreementفِيهِin itبَيْنَamongالسَّلَفِthe predecessors,,وَإِنْand ifكَانَthere isفِيهِin itخِلَافٌdisagreementحَادِثٌnewly occurring,,فَهُوَthen it isمِنْfromأَقْوَالِthe statementsأَهْلِof the people ofالْبِدَعِinnovation.
One is the belief in consensus, for indeed many people believe that this is a consensus among the predecessors, and if there is disagreement in it, then it is from the statements of the people of innovation.
وَالثَّانِيAnd the second::أَنَّis thatالْقُرْآنَthe Quranقَدْhasدَلَّindicatedعَلَىonذَٰلِكَthatدَلَالَةًevidenceقَطْعِيَّةًcategorical,,فَإِنَّهُfor indeed itأَخْبَرَinformedبِخُلُودِهِمof their eternityفِيinالنَّارِthe fireأَبَدًاforeverفِيinغَيْرِother thanمَوْضِعٍlocationsمِنَofالْقُرْآنِ.the Quran.
And the second is that the Quran has indicated that categorically, for indeed it informed of their eternity in the fire forever in various locations in the Quran.
وَالثَّالِثAnd the third::أَنَّis thatالسُّنَّةَthe Sunnahالْمُسْتَفِيضَةَthe abundantأَخْبَرَتْinformedبِخُرُوجِof the exitمِنْof whoeverفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartمِثَالٌan exampleذَرَّةٌof a grainمِنَofإِيمَانٍfaithمِنَfromالنَّارِthe fireدُونَwithoutالْكُفَّارِthe disbelievers,,فَإِنَّهُمْfor theyلَمْdid notيَخْرُجُواexit.
And the third is that the abundant Sunnah has informed of the exit of whoever has in his heart an example of faith from the fire, whereas the disbelievers did not exit.
وَالرَّابِعAnd the fourth::قَوْلٌis the sayingمِنَof those whoيَقُولُونَsay::الرَّسُولُthe Messengerوَقَفْنَاwe foundعَلَىonذَٰلِكَthat,,وَعَلِمْنَاهُand we have known itمِنْfromبَعْدِهِafter himضَرُورَةًnecessityوَلَاand do notيَحْتَجُّونَthey argueبِنَصٍّwith a textمُعَيَّنٍspecific,,وَعَامَّةٌand the generalالنَّاسِpeopleيَقُولُونَsay::هَذَاthisلَاdoes notنَعْلَمُهُwe know itإِلَّاexceptمِنَfromالْخَبَرِthe report,,وَشَذَّand some divergedبَعْضُهُمْof themفَزَعَمُواand claimأَنَّthatالْعَقْلَreasonدَلَّindicatesعَلَىonخُلُودِthe eternalityالْكُفَّارِ.of the disbelievers.
And the fourth is the saying of those who say: We found from the Messenger that, after necessity, we learn this, and they do not argue with a specific text. And the general people say: This we do not know except from the report, and some diverged claiming that reason indicates the eternity of the disbelievers.
فَأَمَّاAs forالإِجْمَاعِthe consensusفَهُوَit isأَوَّلًاfirst::غَيْرُnotمَعْلُومٍknown,,فَإِنَّfor indeedهَذِهِtheseالْمَسَائِلِissuesلَاdo notيُقَطَعُbe cut offفِيهَاin themبِإِجْمَاعٍby consensus.نَعَمYesقَدmayيُظَنُّbe thoughtفِيْهَاin themالإِجْمَاعُthe consensusوَذَٰلِكَand thatقَبْلَbeforeأَنْthatيُعْرَفَit is knownالنِّزَاعُthe dispute,,وَقَدْand it is knownعُرِفَknownالنِّزَاعُthe disputeقَدِيمًاsince long ago.
As for the consensus, it is first not known, for indeed, these issues do not have consensus declared on them. Yes, a consensus might be thought in them before the dispute is known, and the dispute has been known since long ago.
