أَهْلُPeople ofالتَّوْحِيدِMonotheism(١)وَغَيْرِهُمْAnd others,قَالَاsaidفِيaboutفَنَاءِthe end ofالنَّارِthe fireمَاwhatقَالَاthey said,وَقَدْand it wasنُقِلَreportedالْبَغَوِيُّby Al-Baghawi:رَوَىhe narratedالسَّدِّيُAl-Suddi,عَنْfromمُرَّةَMurrah,عَنْfromعَبْدِ اللهِAbdullah,قَالَhe said:"لَوْ"Ifعَلِمَthe people knewأَهْلُthe people ofالنَّارِthe fireأَنَّهُمْthat theyيَلْبَثُونَwould remainفِيinالنَّارِthe fireعَدَدَthe number ofحَصَىthe pebblesالدُّنْيَاof this world.لَفَرِحُوا"they would rejoice."(٢)
The people of monotheism (1) and others said about the end of the fire what they said, and it was reported by Al-Baghawi: Al-Suddi narrated from Murrah from Abdullah, he said: "If the people of the fire knew that they would remain in the fire for a period equivalent to the number of pebbles of this world, they would rejoice." (2)
وَقَدِAnd it has beenاسْتَفَاضَwidely reportedعَنْfromغَيْرِvariousوَاحِدٍonesمِنَofالسَّلَفِthe predecessorsتَقْدِيرُthat the estimation ofالْحُقُبِthe periodsبِحَدٍّis of a limitedمَحْدُودٍlimit,وَالْأَحْقَابِand the periods,جَمْعُthe plural ofحَقْبٍperiod,فَرَوَىit has been narratedابْنُby IbnأَبِيAbiحَاتِمٍHatemعَنْfromعَطِيَّةَAtiyyah,عَنْfromابْنِIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasقَالَhe said inفِيregard toقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَى:the Exalted:{لَابِثِينَ"Remainingفِيهَاin itأَحْقَابًاfor periods
And it has been widely reported from various predecessors that the estimation of the periods is of a limited limit, and the "periods" is the plural of "period." It has been narrated by Ibn Abi Hatem from Atiyyah from Ibn Abbas, he said about His saying the Exalted: {"Remaining in it for periods."}
قَالَ:He said:"سِنِينَ""Years"(٤)

وَعَنْAnd fromأَبِيAbiصَالِحٍSalih,السَّمَّانِthe vendor,عَنْfromأَبِيAbiهُرَيْرَةَHurairaقَالَ:he said:{لَابِثِينَ"Remainingفِيهَاin itأَحْقَابًاfor periods
And from Abi Salih the vendor, from Abi Huraira, he said: {"Remaining in it for periods."}
قَالَ:He said:الْحُقْبُ:The period is:ثَمَانُونَEightyسَنَةً،years,وَالسَّنَةُand the year isثَلَاثُ مِئَةٍThree hundredوَسِتُّونَand sixtyيَوْمًا،days,وَالْيَوْمُand the day isكَأَلْفِlike a thousandسَنَةٍyears,(٦)،الْيَوْمَThe dayمِنْهَاof itكَالدُّنْيَاis like the whole world.
He said: The period is: Eighty years, and the year is three hundred and sixty days, and the day is like a thousand years, (6) the day of it is like the whole world.
قَالَIbnابْنُIbnأَبِيAbiحَاتِمٍ،Hatem,وَرُوِيَand it was narratedعَنْfromعَبْدِ اللهِAbdullahابْنِIbnعَمْرٍوAmrابْنِIbnالْعَاصِ،Al-As,وَهِلَالَand Hilalالْهَجْرِيِّthe Hijri,وَالضُّحَاكِ،and Al-Duhak,وَذَكْوَانَ،and Dhakwan,وَالْحَسَنَ،and Al-Hassan,وَسَعِيدَand SaidابْنِIbnجُبَيْرٍ،Jubair,وَقَتَادَةَ،and Qatadah,وَعَمْرٍوand AmrابْنِIbnمَيْمُونٍMaymunأَنَّهُمْthat they said:الْحُقُبُ:The periods are:ثَمَانُونَEightyسَنَةًyears.(٧)
Ibn Abi Hatem, and it was narrated from Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn al-As, and Hilal the Hijri, and Al-Duhak, and Dhakwan, and Al-Hassan, and Said Ibn Jubair, and Qatadah, and Amr Ibn Maymun that they said: The periods are eighty years. (7)
وَعَنْAnd fromهشَامٍ،Hisham,عَنْfromالْحَسَنِAl-Hasanالْبَصْرِيِّthe Basri,أَنَّهُthat heسُئِلَwas askedعَنْaboutقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَى:the Exalted:{لَابِثِينَ"Remainingفِيهَاin itأَحْقَابًاfor periods"فَقَالَ:He said:اللَّهُAllahأَعْلَمُis more knowingبِالْأَحْقَابِof the periods(٨)فَلَيْسَتْso there is noفِيهَاin itعَدَدٌnumberإِلَّاexceptالْخُلْدُ،the eternity,وَلَكِنْbut ratherبَلَغَنَاit has been conveyed to us
And from Hisham, from Al-Hasan Al-Basri, that he was asked about His saying the Exalted: {"Remaining in it for periods"} He said: Allah is more knowing of the periods (8), so there is no number in it except eternity, but rather it has been conveyed to us that...
