وَهذاAnd this(١)(1)أَحَدُoneالمَأخَذَينِof the two sourcesفِيinدَوَامِthe permanenceعَذَابِof punishmentمِنْofيَدْخُلُهَاthose who enter it,,فَإِنَّfor indeedالَّذِينَthose whoيَقُولُونَsay::إِنَّthatعَذَابَهُمْtheir punishmentلَهُhasحَدٌّa limitيَنْتَهِيto which it endsإِلَيْهِto itلَيْسَis notبِدَائِمٍpermanent,,كَدَوَامِlike the permanenceنَعِيمِof blissالجَنَّةِof Paradise,,قَدْmayيَقُولُونَsay::إِنَّهَاthat itقَدْmayتَفْنَىcease to exist,,وَقَدْand mayيَقُولُونَsay::إِنَّهُمْthat theyيَخْرُجُونَwill leaveمِنْهَاfrom it,,فَلَاso notيَبْقَىremainفِيهاin itأَحَدٌanyone,,لَكِنْbutقَدْmayيُقَالُbe said::إِنَّهُمْthat theyلَمْdid notيُرِيدُواwantبِذَلِكَby thisأَنَّهُمْthat theyيَخْرُجُونَwill leaveمَعَwith(٢)(2)بَقَاءٍthe permanenceالعَذَابِof punishmentفِيهاin itعَلَىuponغَيْرِother thanأَحَدٍanyone,,بَلْratherيَفْنَىceases to existعَذَابُهَاits punishment,,وَهَذَاand thisهُوَisمَعْنَىthe meaningفَنَائِهَاof its ceasing to exist.

And this (1) is one of the two sources regarding the permanence of the punishment for those who enter it.

وَقَدْAnd indeedنُقِلَit has been narratedهَذَاthisالْقَوْلُstatementعَنْfromعُمَرَOmar,ابْنِIbnمَسْعُودٍMas'ud,وَأَبِيand AbuهُرَيْرَةَHurairaوَأَبِيand AbuسَعِيدٍSaeedالْخُدْرِيُّAl-Khudriوَغَيْرِهِمand others.

And indeed, this statement has been narrated from Omar, Ibn Mas'ud, Abu Huraira, Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, and others.

وَقَدْAnd indeedرَوَىnarratedعَبْدٌAbdابْنُIbnحُمَيْدٍHumaid--وَهُوَand he isمِنْone ofأَجَلِّthe bestعُلَمَاءِof scholarsالْحَدِيثِof Hadith--فِيinتَفْسِيرِهِhis interpretationالْمَشْهُورِfamous,قَالَhe said:أَنَاI amسُلَيْمَانُSulaimanابْنُIbnحَرْبٍHarb,أَنَاI amحَمَّادٌHammadابْنُIbnسَلَمَةَSalama,,عَنْfromثَابِتٍThabit,عَنْfromالْحَسَنِAl-HasanالْبَصْرِيِّAl-Basri,قَالَhe said:قَالَHe said:عُمَرُOmar:لَوْIfلَبِثَthey remainedأَهْلُthe people ofالنَّارِthe Fireفِيinالنَّارِthe Fireكَـمَدَّةِas long asالرَّمْلِthe sandعَاجَof Al'Ajl,,,لَكَانَit would be

And indeed, Abd Ibn Humaid - who is one of the best scholars of Hadith - narrated in his famous interpretation, he said: I am Sulaiman Ibn Harb, I am Hammad Ibn Salama, from Thabit, from Al-Hasan Al-Basri, he said: Omar said, "If the people of the Fire remained in it for as long as the sand of Al'Ajl, it would be for them a day they would leave."

وَقَالَAnd he said:أَنْبَأَHe informedحَجَّاجُHajjajابْنُIbnمُنْهَالٍMunahil,عَنْfromحَمَّادٍHammadابْنِIbnسَلَمَةَSalama,عَنْfromحُمَيْدٍHumaid,عَنْfromالْحَسَنِAl-Hasan,أَنَّthatعُمَرَOmarابْنَIbnالْخَطَّابِAl-Khattabقَالَsaid:لَوْIfلَبِثَthey remainedأَهْلُthe people ofالنَّارِthe Fireفِيinالنَّارِthe Fireعَدَدَthe number ofالرَّمْلِthe sandعَاجَof Al'Ajl,,,لَكَانَit would be

And he said: Hajjaj Ibn Munahil informed us, from Hammad Ibn Salama, from Humaid, from Al-Hasan, that Omar Ibn Al-Khattab said: "If the people of the Fire remained in the Fire as many as the number of the sand of Al'Ajl, it would surely be for them a day they would leave."
