Ibn Abi Hatem narrated in his interpretation (2) from Sulaiman bin Aamer, he said: I heard Al-Bayyah bin Anas saying: "Indeed, the example of the knowledge of all the servants in the knowledge of their Lord, is like a drop from all of these seas, and indeed He has revealed in this: 'If that which is in the earth were pens, and the sea were to extend it with seven more seas, the words of Allah would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allah is Exalted and Wise.'" (3)

And His saying: "Say: If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would have been exhausted before the words of my Lord are exhausted, even if we brought like it as an addition." (4)

That which is meant in this hadith, he says: If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, and all the trees were pens, the pens would break, and the waters of the sea would finish; and the words of Allah would remain; everlasting (5), nothing would exhaust them, because nobody is able to measure its worth, and not praise Him as it should be, until He is He who praises Himself, indeed, our Lord is as we say and above what we say. Then the example of the blessings of this world, its beginning and its end in the blessings of the Hereafter, is like a seed of mustard within all of the earth." 4/A.
