Ibn Taimiyyah was not the only one in this understanding.

Sixth: Al-Sabki noted Ibn Taimiyyah's inference with some effects indicating the annihilation of the fire and its being speaking in it, and the answer to this can be: that perhaps Ibn Taimiyyah did not know its rationale at that time, and this is why the scholar Al-Albani excused him by saying: "And perhaps that was from him during his seeking knowledge, and before his expansion in studying the Book and the Sunnah, and his mastery of the legal evidences." Moreover, these effects were not his only proof; rather, he supported his argument, as previously mentioned, with the defined verses.

Seventh: Ibn Taimiyyah justified what he mentioned in his letter, which is an established matter in the origin of the Sharia, which is the vastness of Allah's mercy. Allah, the Exalted, said about it: "And My mercy has encompassed all things." (3). The Sheikh Al-Albani commented on that by saying: "Except that what carries him on this was his extensive confidence in the mercy and forgiveness of his Lord, and that it has encompassed all things without exceptions, and this coincided with his noble character and merciful nature that Allah created him on, and he was known by it among his companions" (4).

And just as the Sheikh of Islam preceded this from some of the predecessors, some scholars agreed with him on this, such as Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, Ibn Al-Wazir, and others. Moreover, the author of "The Revealing of the Curtains to Prove False the Claim of the Annihilation of the Fire" mentioned that a master's thesis was discussed by the researcher: Faisal Abdullah to the University of Umm Al-Qura in Mecca, titled "Paradise and Hell and the Opinions in Them," wherein the author favored the saying of the annihilation of the fire, justifying that by stating that it agrees with the broad mercy and generosity of Allah.
