وُلِدَWas bornذَلِكَthatالْمَوْلُودُnewborn
That newborn was born
الَّذِيwhoقَدَّرَdestinedاللَّهُAllahأَنْtoيُخْرِجَbringالنَّاسَpeopleمِنَfromالظُّلُمَاتِthe darknessإِلَىtoالنُّورِthe light.
whom Allah destined to bring people from darkness into the light.
وُلِدَWas bornمُوسَىMosesبْنُson ofعِمْرَانَImran
Moses, son of Imran, was born
عَلَىdespiteرَغْمِthe will ofفِرْعَوْنَPharaohوَجُنُودِهِand his soldiers.
despite Pharaoh and his soldiers.
وَعَاشَAnd livedمُوسَىMosesثَلَاثَةَthreeأَشْهُرٍmonths
And Moses lived for three months
عَلَىdespiteرَغْمِthe will ofالشُّرْطَةِthe policeوَرِقَابَتِهِمْand their surveillance
despite the police and their surveillance
فِيinالنِّيلِthe Nile.
in the Nile.
وَلَكِنْButخَافَتْfearedأُمُّmotherمُوسَىMosesعَلَىforمَوْلُودِهَاher newbornالْجَمِيلِbeautiful.
But the mother of Moses feared for her beautiful newborn.
وَكَيْفَAnd howلَاnotتَخَافُwould she fear
And how could she not fear
وَwhileعَدُوُّthe enemyالْأَطْفَالِof childrenبِمِرْصَادٍ؟is lying in wait?
when the enemy of children was lying in wait?
وَكَيْفَAnd howلَاnotتَخَافُwould she fear
And how could she not fear
وَقَدْwhen indeedاخْتُطِفَتِhad snatchedالشُّرْطَةُthe policeعَشَرَاتٍdozensمِنَofالْأَطْفَالِchildren
when the police had snatched dozens of children
مِنْfromحِجْرِthe lapsالْأُمَّهَاتِof mothersفِيinأُسْرَتِهَاtheir homes.
from the laps of mothers in their homes.
مَاذَاWhatتَصْنَعُcan doالْأُمُّthe motherالْمِسْكِينَةُpoor
What can the poor mother do,
وَأَيْنَand whereتُخْفِيcan she hideهَذَاthisالْمَوْلُودَnewbornالْجَمِيلَbeautiful
and where can she hide this beautiful newborn,
وَالشُّرْطَةُwhile the policeلَهُمْhaveعُيُونُeyesالْغُرَابِof the crowوَشَامَةُand the markالنَّمْلِof the ant.
when the police have eyes like crows and the mark of ants?
هُنَالِكَThereأَغَاثَsuccoredاللَّهُAllahالْأُمَّthe motherالْمِسْكِينَةَpoor
There Allah succored the poor mother
وَأَلْهَمَهَاand inspired herأَنْtoتَضَعَهُplace himفِيinصُنْدُوقٍa boxوَتُلْقِيَهُand cast himفِيinالنِّيلِthe Nile.
and inspired her to place him in a box and cast him into the Nile.
اللَّهُAllahأَكْبَرُis the Greatest!
Allah is the Greatest!
كَيْفَHowتَضَعُcan placeالْأُمُّthe motherالْحَنُونُtenderطِفْلَهَاher childفِيinصُنْدُوقٍa boxوَتُلْقِيهِand cast himفِيinالنِّيلِthe Nile?
How can a tender mother place her child in a box and cast him into the Nile?
مَنْWhoيُرْضِعُwill nurseالطِّفْلَthe childفِيinالصُّنْدُوقِthe box?
Who will nurse the child in the box?
وَكَيْفَAnd howيَتَنَفَّسُcan breatheالطِّفْلُthe childفِيinالصُّنْدُوقِthe box?
And how can the child breathe in the box?
