فَعَمَدَThen aimedالْخِضْرُAl-Khidrإِلَىٰtowardلَوْحٍa plankمِّنْfromأَلْوَاحِthe planksالسَّفِينَةِof the shipفَنَزَعَهُ.and tore it out.
Then Al-Khidr aimed toward a plank from the planks of the ship and tore it out.
فَقَالَAnd saidمُوسَىٰMoses,قَوْمٌA peopleحَمَّلُونَاcarried usبِغَيْرِwithoutنَوٍلٍfareعَمَدْتَyou aimedإِلَىٰtowardسَفِينَتِهِمْtheir shipفَخَرَقْتَهَاand you punctured it
And Moses said, 'A people carried us without fare; you aimed toward their ship and you punctured it
لِتُغْرِقَto drownأَهْلَهَا؟its people?'
to drown its people?'
قَالَHe said,الْخِضْرُ:Al-Khidr,﴿أَلَمْ'Did I notأَقُلْsayإِنَّكَthat indeed youلَنْwill neverتَسْتَطِيعَbe ableمَعِيَwith meصَبْرًا﴾to have patience?'
He said, Al-Khidr, 'Did I not say that indeed you will never be able with me to have patience?'
قَالَHe said,مُوسَىٰ:Moses,قَالَ'Do notلَاnotتُؤَاخِذْنِيblame meبِمَاfor whatنَسِيتُI forgotوَلَاand do notتُرْهِقْنِيburden meمِنْfromأَمْرِكْmy commandعُسْرًاwith difficulty.'
He said, Moses, 'Do not blame me for what I forgot and do not burden me from my command with difficulty.'
فَكَانَتِSo it wasالْأُولَىٰthe firstمِنْfromمُوسَىٰMosesنِسْيَانًا.forgetfulness.
So it was the first from Moses forgetfulness.
فَانْطَلَقَا،Then they set out,فَإِذَاuntil whenبِغُلَامٍa boyيَلْعَبُwas playingمَعَwithالْغِلْمَانِthe boys,فَأَخَذَso tookالْخِضْرُAl-Khidrبِرَأْسِهِby his headمِنْfromأَعْلَاهُits topفَا-قْتَلَعَand uprootedرَأْسَهُhis headبِيَدِهِ.with his hand.
Then they set out, until when a boy was playing with the boys, so Al-Khidr took by his head from its top and uprooted his head with his hand.
فَقَالَAnd saidمُوسَىٰ:Moses,﴿أَقَتَلْتَ'Have you killedنَفْسًاa soulزَكِيَّةًpureبِغَيْرِwithoutنَفْسٍa soul'
And said Moses, 'Have you killed a soul pure without a soul
قَالَHe said,أَلَمْ'Did I notأَقُلْsayلَّكَto youإِنَّكَthat indeed youلَنْwill neverتَسْتَطِيعَbe ableمَعِيَwith meصَبْرًا﴾to have patience?'
He said, 'Did I not say to you that indeed you will never be able with me to have patience?'
فَانْطَلَقَاThen they set outحَتَّىٰuntilإِذَاwhenآتَيَاthey came toأَهْلَthe people ofقَرْيَةٍa town,إِسْتَطْعَمَاthey asked for foodأَهْلَهَاits people,فَأَبَوْاbut they refusedأَنْtoيُضَيِّفُوْهُمَاhospitalize them.
Then they set out until when they came to the people of a town, they asked for food its people, but they refused to hospitalize them.
فَوَجَدَاThen they foundفِيهَاin itجِدَارًاa wallيُرِيْدُintendingأَنْtoيَنْقَضَّcollapse.
Then they found in it a wall intending to collapse.
قَامَStoodالْخِضْرُAl-Khidrبِيَدِهِwith his hand
Stood Al-Khidr with his hand
فَأَقَامَهُ.and set it upright.
and set it upright.
فَقَالَAnd saidمُوسَىٰ:Moses,﴿لَوْ'Ifشِئْتَyou willedلَتَّخَذْتَsurely you could have takenعَلَيْهِfor itأَجْرًا﴾a payment.'
And said Moses, 'If you willed surely you could have taken for it a payment.'
فَقَالَ:He said,﴿قَالَ'Thisهَذَاis the partingفِرَاقُbetweenبَيْنِيmeوَبَيْنِكَ﴾and you.'
He said, 'This is the parting between me and you.'
