وَدَعَاAnd calledمُوسَىMosesرَبَّهُhis Lord،,وَمَنْand whoلَهُhas heغَيْرُهُ؟other than Him?
And Moses called his Lord, and who has he other than Him?
فَقَالَSo He saidاضْرِبْStrikeبِعَصَاكَwith your staffالْحَجَرَthe stone
So He said: 'Strike the stone with your staff,'
فَانْفَجَرَتْso gushed forthمِنْهُfrom itاثْنَتَاtwelveعَشْرَةَtenعَيْنًاsprings
so twelve springs gushed forth from it.
قَدْcertainlyعَلِمَknewكُلُّeachأُنَاسٍpeopleمَشْرَبَهُمْtheir drinking place.
Each people knew their drinking place.
وَجَاعَAnd became hungryبَنُوsonsإِسْرَائِيلَof Israel
And the Children of Israel became hungry,
فَشَكَوْاso they complainedإِلَىtoمُوسَىMosesالْجُوعَthe hunger
so they complained to Moses of the hunger,
كَمَاasيَشْكُوcomplainsالطِّفْلُthe childإِلَىtoأُمِّهِhis motherوَيَسْتَغِيثُهَا.and seeks her help.
as a child complains to his mother and seeks her help.
وَقَالُواAnd they saidإِنَّكَindeed youأَخْرَجْتَنَاhave brought us outمِنْfromمِصْرَEgypt
And they said, 'Indeed, you have brought us out from Egypt,
أَرْضِland ofالْفَوَاكِهِthe fruitsوَالثِّمَرَاتِand the produce،,وَأَرْضِand land ofالْخَيْرَاتِthe bountiesوَالطَّيِّبَاتِand the delicacies،,
land of fruits and produce, and land of bounties and delicacies,
فَمَنْso whoلَنَاfor usبِطَعَامٍwith foodفِيinهَذِهِthisالْبَرِّيَّةِ؟wilderness?'
so who will provide us with food in this wilderness?'
دَعَاCalledمُوسَىMosesرَبَّهُ!his Lord!وَمَنْAnd whoلَهُhas heغَيْرُهُ؟!other than Him?!
Moses called his Lord! And who has he other than Him?!
فَأَنْزَلَSo He sent downعَلَيْهِمُupon themالطَّعَامَthe food
So He sent down the food upon them.
أَنْزَلَHe sent downلَهُمْfor themعَلَىonأَوْرَاقِleavesالْأَشْجَارِthe treesمِثْلَlikeالْحَلْوَىsweets،,
He sent down for them on the leaves of the trees like sweets,
وَأَرْسَلَand He sentإِلَيْهِمْto themطَيْرًاbirdsيَأْخُذُونَهُthat they might take themمِنَfromالْأَشْجَارِthe treesبِسُهُولَةٍ.easily.
and He sent to them birds that they might take them from the trees easily.
ذَلِكَThatهُوَisالْمَنُّthe mannaوَالسَّلْوَىand the quailsضِيَافَةَas hospitalityاللَّهِof Allahلِبَنِيto the childrenإِسْرَائِيلَof Israelفِيinالْبَرِّيَّةِ.the wilderness.
That is the manna and the quails, as hospitality of Allah to the Children of Israel in the wilderness.
١٠10––كُفْرَانُIngratitudeبَنِيof the childrenإِسْرَائِيلَof Israel
10 - Ingratitude of the Children of Israel
وَلَكِنَّButبَنِيthe childrenإِسْرَائِيلَof Israel
But the Children of Israel,
قَدْhaveأَفْسَدَcorruptedذَوْقَهُمْtheir tasteوَخُلُقَهُمْand their characterالْعُبُودِيَّةُthe servitudeالطَّوِيلَةُ.long.
the long servitude had corrupted their taste and their character.
وَكَانُواAnd they wereلَاnotيُقِرُّونَsettlingعَلَىonشَيْءٍanything،,
And they were not settling on anything,
وَكَانُواand they wereلَاnotيَسْكُنُونَfinding restإِلَىinشَيْءٍanything
and they were not finding rest in anything,
وَكَانُواand they wereفِيinطِبَاعِهِمْtheir natureأَطْفَالًا.children.
and they were in their nature children.
وَكَانُواAnd they wereقَلِيلِيlittleالتَّشَكُّرِin gratitude،,
And they were little in gratitude,
كَثِيرِيmuchالتَّشَكِّيin complaining،,
much in complaining,
سَرِيعِيquickالسَّأَمَةِto boredom،,
quick to boredom,
يُحِبُّونَthey loveمَاwhat
they love what
