الْقَمْلُThe liceفِيinالْفِرَاشِthe beddingوَالْقَمْلُand the liceفِيinالتِّيَابِthe clothesوَالْقَمْلُand the liceفِيinالرَّأْسِthe head،،وَالْقَمْلُand the liceفِيinالشَّعْرِthe hair.
The lice in the bedding, and the lice in the clothes, and the lice in the head, and the lice in the hair.
فَطَارَSo departedنَوْمُهُمْtheir sleepوَبَاتُواand they spent the nightيُقَصِّعُونَpickingالْقَمْلَthe liceوَيَسُبُّونَهُand cursing it،،حَتَّىuntilيُصْبِحُواmorning came.
So their sleep departed and they spent the night picking the lice and cursing it, until morning came.
وَكَيْفَAnd howيُقَاتِلُونَهُcan they fight it،،وَالْقَمْلُwhile the liceلَاnotتَعْمَلُaffectفِيهِitالسُّيُوفُthe swordsوَلَاnorتَعْمَلُaffectفِيهِitالسِّهَامُthe arrows،،وَلَاand nor doيُنْجِدُهُمْhelp themفِيinذَلِكَthatجُنُودُهُمْtheir soldiersوَشُرْطَتُهُمْand their police.
And how can they fight it, while the swords do not affect the lice, nor do the arrows affect it, and their soldiers and their police do not help them in that.
ثُمَّThenبَعَثَsentاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمُupon themالضَّفَادِعَthe frogs،،فَفِيso inالطَّعَامِthe foodضَفَادِعُare frogs،،وَفِيand inالشَّرَابِthe drinkضَفَادِعُare frogs،،وَبَيْنَand betweenمَلَابِسِهِمْtheir clothesضَفَادِعُare frogs.
Then Allah sent upon them the frogs, so in the food are frogs, and in the drink are frogs, and between their clothes are frogs.
وَسَئِمُواAnd they became wearyهَذِهِof theseالضَّفَادِعَfrogsوَتَنَغَّصَand was spoiledعَيْشُهُمْtheir life.
And they became weary of these frogs and their life became spoiled.
وَانْتَشَرَتِAnd spreadالضَّفَادِعُthe frogs،،وَفَشَتْand they became widespreadفِيinجَمِيعِallأَنْحَاءِpartsالْبَيْتِof the house.
And the frogs spread, and they became widespread in all parts of the house.
تِلْكَThat oneتَنْقُcroaks،،وَهَذِهِand this oneتَثِبُjumpsهُنَاhere،،وَتِلْكَand that oneتَقْفِزُleapsهُنَاكَthere،،وَلَاand notيَقْتُلُونَdo they killوَاحِدَةًoneإِلَّاexceptوَتَأْتِيthat comesعَشَرٌten!!وَلَاAnd notيُخْرِجُونَdo they removeوَاحِدَةًoneإِلَّاexceptوَتَظْهَرُthat appearsخَمْسٌfiveكَأَنَّهَاas if itتُولَدُis bornفِيinالْبَيْتِthe house!!
That one croaks, and this one jumps here, and that one leaps there, and they do not kill one except that ten come! And they do not remove one except that five appear as if they are born in the house!
عَجَزَتِWere unableالْحُرَّاسُthe guardsوَعَجَزَتِand were unableالشُّرْطَةُthe policeعَنِto deal withالضَّفَادِعِthe frogs.
The guards were unable and the police were unable to deal with the frogs.
وَبَعَثَAnd sentاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمْupon themآيَةًa signخَامِسَةًfifth،،ذَلِكَthatهُوَit isالدَّمُthe blood.
And Allah sent upon them a fifth sign, that is the blood.
فَسَالَSo flowedالرُّعَافُthe nosebleedمِنْfromآنَافِهِمْtheir nosesوَضَعُفُواand they weakenedوَتَعِبُواand became tiredجِدًّاvery much.
So nosebleeds flowed from their noses and they weakened and became very tired.
وَعَجَزَAnd were unableالْأَطِبَّاءُthe doctorsعَنِto provideالْعِلَاجِthe treatment،،وَلَمْand did notيَنْفَعْهُمْbenefit themدَوَاءٌany medicine.
And the doctors were unable to provide treatment, and no medicine benefited them.
