اَللهُAllah
Allah!
وَمَنْAnd whoيَحُولُstandsبَيْنَbetweenالْعَبْدِthe servantوَرَبِّهِ؟and his Lord?
And who stands between the servant and his Lord?
وَمَنْAnd whoيَحُولُstandsبَيْنَbetweenالْمُسْلِمِthe Muslimوَعِبَادَةِand the worshipاللهِ؟of Allah?
And who stands between the Muslim and the worship of Allah?
وَلَمَّاAnd whenطَغَىtransgressedفِرْعَوْنُPharaoh
And when Pharaoh transgressed,
وَأَسْرَفَand exceededفِيinالْغَفْلَةِheedlessnessوَالْعِنَادِand stubbornness,
and exceeded in heedlessness and stubbornness,
أَرَادَwilledاللهُAllahأَنْtoيُنَبِّهَهُremind him.
Allah willed to remind him.
إِنَّIndeedاللهَAllahلَاdoes notيَرْضَىapproveلِعِبَادِهِfor His servantsالْكُفْرَdisbelief!
Indeed, Allah does not approve for His servants disbelief!
إِنَّIndeedاللهَAllahلَاdoes notيُحِبُّloveالْفَسَادَcorruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِthe earth!
Indeed, Allah does not love corruption in the earth!
وَكَانَAnd wasفِرْعَوْنُPharaohبَلِيدًاdullجِدًّاvery
And Pharaoh was very dull,
ضَاعَتْwas lostفِيهِin himالْحِكْمَةُwisdomوَالْمَوْعِظَةُand admonition.
wisdom and admonition were lost on him.
وَالْحِمَارُAnd the donkeyلَاdoes notيَتَنَبَّهُpay attentionحَتَّىuntilيُضْرَبَit is beaten!
And the donkey does not pay attention until it is beaten!
فَأَرَادَSo willedاللهُAllahأَنْtoيُنَبِّهَهُremind him!
So Allah willed to remind him!
وَمِصْرُAnd Egyptبِلَادٌis a landمُخْصِبَةٌfertileخَضْرَاءُgreen
And Egypt is a fertile, green land,
بِلَادُa landالْخَيْرَاتِof bountiesوَالْأَثْمَارِand fruitsوَبِلَادُand a landالْحُبُوبِof grains.
a land of bounties and fruits, and a land of grains.
وَقَدْAnd indeedعَلِمْتُمْyou knowكَيْفَhowأَنْجَدَتْaidedمِصْرُEgyptبِلَادًاlandsبَعِيدَةًfar away
And indeed you know how Egypt aided far away lands
أَيَّامَduring the daysالْمَجَاعَةِof famineفِيinعَهْدِthe eraيُوسُفَof Joseph,
during the days of famine in the era of Joseph,
وَكَيْفَand howأَنْجَدَتْaidedمِصْرُEgyptأَهْلَthe peopleالشَّامِof Syriaوَأَهْلَand the peopleكِنْعَانَof Canaan!
and how Egypt aided the people of Syria and the people of Canaan!
وَالنِّيلُAnd the Nileهُوَisالَّذِيthat whichيَرْوِيirrigatesأَرْضَthe landمِصْرَof Egypt
And the Nile is that which irrigates the land of Egypt
وَيُسْقِيand watersزُرُوعَهُمْtheir crops,وَهُوَand it isمَنْبَعُthe sourceالسَّعَادَةِof happinessوَالْخَيْرِand goodnessفِيinمِصْرَEgypt.
and waters their crops, and it is the source of happiness and goodness in Egypt.
وَكَانَAnd wasفِرْعَوْنُPharaohوَأَهْلُand the peopleمِصْرَof Egyptيَظُنُّونَthinking
And Pharaoh and the people of Egypt used to think
أَنَّthatالنِّيلَthe Nileهُوَisمِفْتَاحُthe keyالرِّزْقِto sustenance,
that the Nile is the key to sustenance,
وَأَنَّand thatمِصْرَEgyptغَنِيَّةٌis independentبِالنِّيلِthrough the Nileعَنِfromالْمَطَرِrainوَعَنْand fromكُلِّeveryشَيْءٍthing.
and that Egypt is independent through the Nile from rain and from everything.
