قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy Lord,إِنِّيindeed Iقَتَلْتُhave killedمِنْهُمْof themنَفْسًاa soul,فَأَخَافُso I fearأَنْthatيَقْتُلُونِthey will kill me.

He said, "My Lord, indeed I have killed of them a soul, so I fear that they will kill me."

وَذُكِرَAnd it was mentionedمُوسَىconcerning Mosesأَنَّthatفِيinلِسَانِهِhis tongueحُبْسَةٌwas a hindrance.

And it was mentioned that Moses had a hindrance in his tongue.

وَلَكِنَّButاللَّهَAllahكَانَwasيَعْرِفُknowingذَلِكَthatكُلَّهُall,وَيُرِيدُand He wantedأَنْthatيَذْهَبَgoمُوسَىMosesرَغْمَdespiteذَلِكَthatكُلِّهِall.

But Allah knew all of that and wanted Moses to go despite all of that.

وَإِذْAnd whenنَادَىcalledرَبُّكَyour LordمُوسَىMoses,أَنِ"Go toائْتِgo toالْقَوْمَthe peopleالظَّالِمِينَthe wrongdoers -

And when your Lord called Moses, "Go to the wrongdoing people -

قَوْمَThe peopleفِرْعَوْنَof Pharaoh.أَلَاDo they notيَتَّقُونَfear?"

The people of Pharaoh. Do they not fear?"

قَالَHe said,رَبِّ"My Lord,إِنِّيindeed Iأَخَافُfearأَنْthatيُكَذِّبُونِthey will deny me,

He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me,

وَيَضِيقُAnd will become tightصَدْرِيmy chestوَلَاand notيَنْطَلِقُwill loosenلِسَانِيmy tongue,

And my chest will become tight and my tongue will not loosen,

فَأَرْسِلْso sendإِلَىtoهَارُونَAaron.

so send to Aaron.

وَلَهُمْAnd for themعَلَيَّagainst meذَنْبٌis a claim of a crime,فَأَخَافُso I fearأَنْthatيَقْتُلُونِthey will kill me.

And they have a claim against me, so I fear that they will kill me.

قَالَHe said,كَلَّا"No, never!

He said, "No, never!

فَاذْهَبَاSo go, you two,بِآيَاتِنَاwith Our signs;إِنَّاindeed, Weمَعَكُمْwith youمُسْتَمِعُونَare listening.

So go, you two, with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening."

فَأْتِيَاSo go, both of you,فِرْعَوْنَto Pharaohفَقُولَاand say,إِنَّا"Indeed, weرَسُولُare the messengerرَبِّof the Lordالْعَالَمِينَof the worlds,

So go, both of you, to Pharaoh and say, "Indeed, we are the messenger of the Lord of the worlds,

أَنْThatأَرْسِلْsendمَعَنَاwith usبَنِيthe Childrenإِسْرَائِيلَof Israel."

[With the message], 'Send with us the Children of Israel.'"

وَأَوْصَىAnd commandedاللَّهُAllahمُوسَىMosesوَهَارُونَand Aaronبِاللِّينِwith gentlenessوَالرِّفْقِand kindnessمَعَwithفِرْعَوْنَPharaoh.

And Allah commanded Moses and Aaron with gentleness and kindness with Pharaoh.

إِنَّIndeed,اللَّهَAllahيُحِبُّlovesالرِّفْقَkindnessمَعَwithأَعْدَائِهِHis enemiesإِلَىtoحَدٍّa limit,فَقَالَso He said:

Indeed, Allah loves kindness with His enemies to a limit, so He said:

فَقُولَاThen speakلَهُto himقَوْلًاa wordلَيِّناًgentleلَعَلَّهُthat perhapsيَتَذَكَّرُhe may rememberأَوْorيَخْشَىfear.

"And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear."

٢٠20-أَمَامَIn front ofفِرْعَوْنَPharaoh

- 20 - In front of Pharaoh

وَجَاءَAnd cameمُوسَىMosesوَهَارُونُand AaronإِلَىtoفِرْعَوْنَPharaohوَقَامَاand stoodفِيinمَجْلِسِهِhis assemblyيَدْعُوَانِهِinviting himإِلَىtoاللَّهِAllah.

And Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh and stood in his assembly inviting him to Allah.

وَغَضِبَAnd became angryالْجَبَّارُthe tyrantمِنْatجَرَاءَةِthe boldnessمُوسَىof Moses,وَقَالَand saidفِيinعُلُوٍّloftinessوَكِبْرٍand arrogance:

And the tyrant became angry at the boldness of Moses, and said in loftiness and arrogance:

مَنْ"Whoتَكُونُare you,أَيُّهَاOالشَّابُّyoung man,حَتَّىthatتَقُومَyou standفِيinمَجْلِسِيmy assemblyوَتَعِظَنِي؟and admonish me?

"Who are you, O young man, that you stand in my assembly and admonish me?

أَلَسْتَAre you notذَلِكَthat

Are you not that
