شَاءَWilledاللهُAllahمِنَfromالصَّلِحِينَthe righteous.
Allah willed him to be among the righteous.
خافَFearedالشيخُthe elderأَنْthatيَذْهَبَhe goesالشَّابُّthe young manبَيِّنَتَهُhis proofوَيَبْقَىand remainsوَحِيْدا.alone.
The elder feared that the young man would go with his proof and he would remain alone.
وَرَأَىAnd sawالشيخُthe elderأَنْthatيُجَرِّبَhe testsالشَّابُّthe young manأَيْضاalsoحَتَّىuntilإِذاifاطْمَأَنَّhe is reassuredإِلَيْهِto himوَدَّعَهُ.he bids farewell to him.
And the elder decided to test the young man as well, so that when he was reassured of him, he would bid him farewell.
وافَقَAgreedمُوسَىMosesعَلَىonذلِكَthatوَرَأَىand sawأَنَّthatهذاthisمِنَis fromاللهِAllahوَأَنَّand thatاللهَAllahسَيُبَارِكُwill blessفِيinذلِكَthat.
Moses agreed to that and saw that this was from Allah, and that Allah would bless it.
إِنَّIndeedاللهَAllahقَدْhasسَاقَهُbrought himإِلَىtoمَدْيَنَMadianوَأَرْسَلَهُand sent himإِلَىtoالشيخِthe elderوَأَلْقَىand castفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartحَنَانًاtendernessوَحُبًّا.and love.
Indeed, Allah had brought him to Midian and sent him to the elder and cast tenderness and love into his heart.
فَقَالَ:So he said:﴿(ذلِكَThatبَيْنِيis between meوَبَيْنَكَand you﴾).
So he said: "That is between me and you."
وَلَكِنْButأَرَادَwantedمُوسَىMoses——بِحِكْمَتِهِwith his wisdomوَعَقْلِهِand his intellect——أَنْtoيَحْفَظَpreserveلَهُfor himحَقَّthe rightالْخِيَارِof choiceلَعَلَّهُperhapsيَسْأَمُhe may grow wearyفَقَالَ:so he said:
But Moses, with his wisdom and intellect, wanted to preserve for him the right of choice, lest he grow weary, so he said:
أَيَّمَاWhicheverالْأَجَلَيْنِof the two termsقَضَيْتُI fulfillفَلَاthen there isعُدْوَانَno aggressionعَلَيَّupon meوَاللَّهُand Allahعَلَىoverمَاwhatنَقُولُwe sayوَكِيْلٌ.is trustee.
"Whichever of the two terms I fulfill, there shall be no aggression against me. And Allah is witness to what we say."
١٨18--إِلَىToمِصْرَ.Egypt.
18 - To Egypt.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenقَضَىhe fulfilledمُوسَىMosesالْأَجَلَthe termسَارَhe traveledبِأَهْلِهِwith his family.
And when Moses fulfilled the term, he traveled with his family.
وَدَّعَbid farewellالشيخُthe elderوَدَّعَهُhe bid farewell to himالشَّيْخُthe elderوَدَعَاand prayedلَهُ:for him:
The elder bid farewell and he bid farewell to him, and the elder prayed for him:
عَلَىOnبَرَكَةِthe blessingاللهِof AllahيَاOوَلَدِي!my son!فِيInأَمَانِthe safetyاللهِof AllahيَاOبِنْتِيmy daughter!
"On the blessing of Allah, O my son! In the safety of Allah, O my daughter!"
وَسَافَرَAnd traveledمُوسَىMosesبِأَهْلِهِ،with his family,وَالَّيْلُand the nightكُلُّهُall of itبَرْدٌwas coldوَظَلَامٌ.and dark.
And Moses traveled with his family, and the whole night was cold and dark.
