وَغَضِبَAnd became angryمُوسَىMosesفَضَرَبَso he struckالْقِبْطِيَّthe Coptفَكَانَتِand it wasالْقَاضِيَةَthe fatal blow
And Moses became angry, so he struck the Copt, and it was the fatal blow!
وَمَاتَAnd diedالْقِبْطِيُّthe Coptوَنَدِمَand regrettedمُوسَىMosesجِدًّاgreatly
And the Copt died, and Moses regretted greatly.
وَعَرَفَAnd he knewأَنَّthatهَذَاthisمِنْfromعَمَلِthe workالشَّيْطَانِof Satanفَتَابَso he repentedمُوسَىMosesإِلَىtoاللَّهِAllahوَأَنَابَand turned in repentance
And he knew that this was from the work of Satan, so Moses repented to Allah and turned to Him.
وَكَذَلِكَAnd likewiseكُلُّeveryنَبِيٍّprophet
And likewise every prophet.
قَالَHe saidهَذَاThis isمِنْfromعَمَلِthe workالشَّيْطَانِof Satanإِنَّهُindeed heعَدُوٌّis an enemyمُضِلٌّmisleadingمُبِينٌclear
He said: 'This is from the work of Satan. Indeed he is a clear, misleading enemy.'
وَتَابَAnd accepted repentanceاللَّهُAllahعَلَىforمُوسَىMosesلِأَنَّbecauseمُوسَىMosesلَمْdid notيَقْصِدْintendأَنْtoيَقْتُلَkillالْقِبْطِيَّthe Coptبَلْbut ratherضَرَبَهُhe struck himوَلَكِنَّهَاand but itكَانَتِwasالْقَاضِيَةَthe fatal blow
And Allah turned to Moses in forgiveness, because Moses did not intend to kill the Copt, but rather he struck him, and it was the fatal blow.
وَحَمِدَAnd praisedاللَّهَAllahمُوسَىMosesوَقَالَand saidإِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahقَدْhasأَنْعَمَbestowed favorعَلَيَّupon meوَغَفَرَand forgivenلِيme﴿فَلَنْSo neverأَكُونَwill I beظَهِيرًاa supporterلِلْمُجْرِمِينَof the criminals﴾
And Moses praised Allah and said: 'Indeed, Allah has bestowed favor upon me and forgiven me. So never will I be a supporter of the criminals.'
وَأَصْبَحَAnd he becameفِيinالْمَدِينَةِthe cityخَائِفًاfearfulيَتَرَقَّبُwatchingوَيَحْذَرُand waryمَتَىwhenتَجِيئُهُwould come to himشُرْطَةُthe policeفِرْعَوْنَof Pharaohوَلَهُمْand they haveعُيُونُeyesالْغُرَابِlike a ravenوَشَامَةُand a moleالنَّمْلِlike an ant
And he became in the city fearful, watching and wary, when Pharaoh's police would come to him, with eyes like a raven and a mole like an ant.
وَأَصْبَحَAnd he becameخَائِفًاfearfulيَتَرَقَّبُwatchingمَتَىwhenتَجِيئُهُwould come to himالشُّرْطَةُthe policeوَيَأْخُذُونَهُand take himإِلَىtoالْجَبَّارِthe tyrant
And he became fearful, watching, when the police would come and take him to the tyrant.
وَرَأَىAnd sawالشُّرْطَةُthe policeقَتِيلًاa dead manقِبْطِيًّاa Coptمِنْfromخَدَمِthe servantsفِرْعَوْنَof Pharaohفَفَتَّشُواso they searchedعَنِforالْقَاتِلِthe killerوَلَكِنَّهُمْand but theyلَمْdid notيَهْتَدُواfind the wayإِلَيْهِto him
And the police saw a dead Copt, one of Pharaoh's servants, so they searched for the killer but they did not find him.
وَمَنْAnd whoيَدُلُّهُمْwill guide themعَلَىtoالْقَاتِلِthe killerوَلَاwhile notيَعْلَمُهُknowing himإِلَّاexceptمُوسَىMosesوَالْإِسْرَائِيلِيُّand the Israelite?
And who will guide them to the killer, and no one knows him except Moses and the Israelite?
وَأَصْبَحَAnd becameالْقَتِيلُthe deceasedحَدِيثَthe talkالْبَلَدِof the townوَشُغْلَand the preoccupationالْمَدِينَةِof the cityكُلٌّeveryoneيَتَحَدَّثُtalkingعَنْهُabout himوَلَاand not
And the deceased became the talk of the town and the preoccupation of the city, everyone talking about him and not...
