وَكَيْفَAnd howيُعَامِلُونَthey treatبَنِيthe children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael
And how they treat the children of Israel
مُعَامَلَةَwith the treatmentالْحَمِيرِof donkeysوَالدَّوَابِّand beasts.
like donkeys and beasts.
وَكَيْفَAnd howيَسْتَخْدِمُونَـهُمْthey employ themوَيُسَوِّمُونَهُمْand inflict upon them
And how they employ them and inflict upon them
سُوءَevilالْعَذَابِtorment.
evil torment.
وَكَانَAnd wasمُوسَىMosesيَرَىseeingذَلِكَthat
And Moses used to see that
صَبَاحَmorningمَسَاءَand eveningوَيَسْكُتُand remain silent.
morning and evening and remain silent.
وَلَكِنْButكَانَwasمُوسَىMosesيَغِيظُهُangered byذَلِكَthat.
But that used to anger Moses.
وَكَيْفَAnd howلَاnotيُغِيظُهُanger himإِهَانَةُthe humiliationقَوْمِهِof his people
And how could the humiliation of his people not anger him
وَأُسْرَتِهِand his family?
and his family?
وَهُمْAnd theyأَبْنَاءُare the sons ofالْأَنْبِيَاءِthe prophets,وَهُمْand they
And they are the sons of the prophets, and they
أَبْنَاءُare the sons ofالْكِرَامِthe noble ones.
are the sons of the noble ones.
وَمَاAnd whatذَنْبُis the sinبَنِيof the children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael?
And what is the sin of the children of Israel?
أَلِأَنَّهُمْIs it because theyلَيْسُواare notأَقْبَاطًا؟Copts?
Is it because they are not Copts?
أَلِأَنَّهُمْIs it because theyمِنْare fromكَنْعَانَ؟Canaan?
Is it because they are from Canaan?
هَذَاThisلَيْسَis notبِذَنْبٍ!a sin!
This is not a sin!
هَذَاThisلَيْسَis notبِذَنْبٍ!a sin!

١٢12--الضَّرْبَةُThe blowالْقَاضِيَةُdecisive
12 - The Decisive Blow
وَلَمَّاAnd whenكَانَwasمُوسَىMosesشَابًّاa young manقَوِيًّاstrong,
And when Moses was a strong young man,
آتَاهُgave himاللَّهُAllahحُكْمًاwisdomوَعِلْمًاand knowledge.
Allah gave him wisdom and knowledge.
وَكَانَAnd wasمُوسَىMosesيُبْغِضُhatingالظَّالِمِينَthe oppressors
And Moses used to hate the oppressors
وَيَكْرَهُهُمْand detesting them,وَيُحِبُّand lovingالضُّعَفَاءَthe weak
and detesting them, and loving the weak
وَالْمَظْلُومِينَand the oppressedوَيَنْصُرُهُمْand supporting them,وَكَذَلِكَand likewise
and the oppressed and supporting them, and likewise
كُلُّeveryنَبِيٍّprophet.
every prophet.
وَدَخَلَAnd enteredمُوسَىMosesمَدِينَةَthe cityفِرْعَوْنَof Pharaoh
And Moses entered the city of Pharaoh
مَرَّةًonce,وَالنَّاسُwhile the peopleفِيwere inلَهْوٍamusementوَشُغْلٍand occupation.
once, while the people were in amusement and occupation.
وَوَجَدَAnd he foundفِيهَاin itرَجُلَيْنِtwo menيَقْتَتِلَانِfighting:
And he found in it two men fighting:
هَذَاthis oneمِنْfromبَنِيthe children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael
this one from the children of Israel
وَهَذَاand this oneمِنَfromالْأَقْبَاطِthe Copts,أَعْدَاءِenemies ofبَنِيthe children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael.
and this one from the Copts, enemies of the children of Israel.
فَصَرَخَSo cried outالْإِسْرَائِيلِيُّthe Israeliteوَنَادَىand called out
So the Israelite cried out and called out
مُوسَىto Mosesلِنَصْرِهِfor his help,وَشَكَىand complainedالْقِبْطِيُّthe Copt.
to Moses for his help, and the Copt complained.
