وَلِمَاذَاAnd whyلَاnotيَرْتَضِعُhe sucklesوَهُوَwhile heجَائِعٌis hungryمُنْذُsinceثَلَاثَةِthreeأَيَّامٍ؟days?
And why doesn't he suckle while he is hungry for three days?
وَعَجِبَتِAnd was astonishedالْمَلِكَةُthe Queen،,وَعَجِبَand was astonishedأَهْلُthe peopleالْقَصْرِof the palace،,وَارْتَابَand doubtedفِرْعَوْنُPharaoh،,وَقَالَ:and said:
And the Queen was astonished, and the people of the palace were astonished, and Pharaoh doubted, and said:
لِمَاذَاWhyقَبِلَacceptedهَذَاthisالطِّفْلُchildهَذِهِthisالْمَرْأَةَ؟woman?فَهَلْSo is sheهِيَsheأُمُّهُ؟his mother?
Why did this child accept this woman? Is she his mother?
قَالَتْSaidأُمُّmotherمُوسَى:of Moses:يَاOسَيِّدِيmy lordأَنَاIامْرَأَةٌam a womanطَيِّبَةُgoodالرِّيحِscentedطَيِّبَةُgoodالْبَنِّmilk،,كُلُّeveryطِفْلٍchildيَقْبَلُنِي.accepts me.
The mother of Moses said: O my lord, I am a woman of good scent and good milk; every child accepts me.
وَسَكَتَAnd was silentفِرْعَوْنُPharaohوَأَجْرَىand providedعَلَيْهَاfor herرِزْقًا.provisions.
And Pharaoh was silent and provided for her provisions.
وَ{}Andرَجَعَتْreturnedأُمُّmotherمُوسَىof Mosesإِلَىtoبَيْتِهَاher homeوَفِيand inحِجْرِهَاher lapمُوسَى!Moses!
And the mother of Moses returned to her home, and in her lap was Moses!
فَرَدَدْنَاهُSo we returned himإِلَىtoأُمِّهِhis motherكَيْso thatتَقَرَّher eyeعَيْنُهَاmay be pleasedوَلَاand notتَحْزَنَshe grievesوَلِتَعْلَمَand so that she may knowأَنَّthatوَعْدَpromiseاللَّهِof Allahحَقٌّis truth﴿(وَلَكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَهُمْmost of themلَاnotيَعْلَمُوْنَthey know﴾)
So We returned him to his mother, that her eye might be pleased and not grieve, and so that she might know that the promise of Allah is truth. But most of them do not know. ﴾
١١11--إِلَىToقَصْرِthe palaceفِرْعَوْنَof Pharaoh
11 - To the palace of Pharaoh
وَلَمَّاAnd whenأَتَمَّتْcompletedأُمُّmotherمُوسَىof Mosesرَضَاعَتَهُhis nursingرَدَّتْهُshe returned himإِلَىtoالْقَصْرِ.the palace.
And when the mother of Moses completed his nursing, she returned him to the palace.
وَنَشَأَAnd grew upمُوسَىMosesفِيinقَصْرِthe palaceالْمَلِكِof the kingكَمَاasيَنْشَأُgrows upأَبْنَاءُsonsالْمُلُوكِ.of kings.
And Moses grew up in the king's palace as the sons of kings grow up.
وَهَكَذَاAnd thusزَالَتْvanishedمِنْfromقَلْبِthe heartمُوسَىof Mosesمَهَابَةُthe aweالْمُلُوكِof kingsوَالْأَغْنِيَاءِ.and the rich.
And thus, the awe of kings and the rich vanished from Moses' heart.
وَرَأَىAnd sawمُوسَىMosesبِعَيْنَيْهِwith his own eyesكَيْفَhowيَنْعَمُenjoysفِرْعَوْنُPharaohوَأَهْلُهُ.and his family.
And Moses saw with his own eyes how Pharaoh and his family enjoyed.
وَكَيْفَAnd howيَشْقَىsuffersبَنُوsonsإِسْرَائِيلَof Israelلِيَنْعَمَso that may enjoyفِرْعَوْنُPharaohوَأَهْلُهُ.and his family.
And how the children of Israel suffer so that Pharaoh and his family may enjoy.
وَكَيْفَAnd howيَجُوعُare hungryبَنُوsonsإِسْرَائِيلَof Israelلِتَشْبَعَso that may be fullدَوَابُّbeastsفِرْعَوْنَ.of Pharaoh.
And how the children of Israel are hungry so that Pharaoh's beasts may be full.
