وَضَرَبَAnd struckإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamالْأَصْنَامَthe idols
And Abraham struck the idols
وَكَسَرَand brokeالْأَصْنَامَthe idols.
and broke the idols.
وَتَرَكَAnd leftإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamالصَّنَمَthe idolالْأَكْبَرَthe biggest
And Abraham left the biggest idol
وَعَلَّقَand hungالْفَأْسَthe axeفِيinعُنُقِهِits neck.
and hung the axe in its neck.
مَنْWhoفَعَلَdidهَذَاthis?
Who did this?
وَرَجَعَAnd returnedالنَّاسُthe people
And the people returned
وَدَخَلُواand enteredفِيintoبَيْتِthe house ofالْأَصْنَامِthe idols.
and entered the house of the idols.
وَأَرَادَAnd wantedالنَّاسُthe peopleأَنْtoيَسْجُدُواprostrateلِلْأَصْنَامِto the idols
And the people wanted to prostrate to the idols
لِأَنَّهُbecause itيَوْمُwas the day ofعِيدٍcelebration.
because it was a day of celebration.
وَلَكِنْButتَعَجَّبَwere surprisedالنَّاسُthe peopleوَدَهِشُواand were astonished.
But the people were surprised and astonished.
وَتَأَسَّفَAnd were saddenedالنَّاسُthe peopleوَغَضِبُواand were angry.
And the people were saddened and angry.
قَالُواThey saidمَنْwhoفَعَلَdidهَذَاthisبِآلِهَتِنَاto our gods?
They said, "Who did this to our gods?"
قَالُواThey saidسَمِعْنَاwe heardفَتًىa youthيَذْكُرُهُمْmentioning them
They said, "We heard a youth mentioning them
يُقَالُit is saidلَهُto himإِبْرَاهِيمُAbraham."
who is called Abraham."
قَالُواThey saidأَأَنْتَAre youفَعَلْتَwho didهَذَاthisبِآلِهَتِنَاto our godsيَاOإِبْرَاهِيمُAbraham?
They said, "Are you who did this to our gods, O Abraham?"
قَالَHe saidبَلْRatherفَعَلَهُdid itكَبِيرُهُمْtheir biggest oneهَذَاthis one
He said, "Rather, their biggest, this one, did it.
فَاسْأَلُوهُمْso ask themإِنْifكَانُواthey wereيَنْطِقُونَspeaking."
so ask them if they were speaking."
وَكَانَAnd wereالنَّاسُthe peopleيَعْرِفُونَknowingأَنَّthatالْأَصْنَامَthe idolsحِجَارَةٌwere stones.
And the people were knowing that the idols were stones.
وَكَانُواAnd they wereيَعْرِفُونَknowingأَنَّthatالْحِجَارَةَthe stonesلَاdo notتَسْمَعُhear
And they were knowing that the stones do not hear
وَلَاand do notتَنْطِقُspeak.
and do not speak.
وَكَانُواAnd they wereيَعْرِفُونَknowingأَنَّthatالصَّنَمَthe idolالْأَكْبَرَthe biggestأَيْضًاalsoحَجَرٌa stone
And they were knowing that the biggest idol was also a stone
وَأَنَّand thatالصَّنَمَthe idolالْأَكْبَرَthe biggestلَاis notيَقْدِرُableأَنْtoيَمْشِيَwalk
and that the biggest idol was not able to walk
وَيَتَحَرَّكَand move
and move
وَأَنَّand thatالصَّنَمَthe idolالْأَكْبَرَthe biggestلَاis notيَقْدِرُableأَنْtoيَكْسِرَbreakالْأَصْنَامَthe idols.
and that the biggest idol was not able to break the idols.
