١٢12- - إِلَىToمَكَّةَMecca
12 - To Mecca
وَغَضِبَAnd became angryقَوْمُpeople ofإِبْرَاهِيمَAbraham
And Abraham's people became angry,
وَغَضِبَand became angryالْمَلِكُthe king
and the king became angry,
وَغَضِبَand became angryوَالِدُfather ofإِبْرَاهِيمَAbraham
and Abraham's father became angry.
وَأَرَادَAnd wantedإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamأَنْtoيُسَافِرَtravel
And Abraham wanted to travel
إِلَىtoبَلَدٍa countryآخَرَanother
to another country
وَيَعْبُدَand worshipفِيهِin itاللَّهَAllah
to worship Allah there
وَيَدْعُوَand callالنَّاسَthe peopleإِلَىtoاللَّهِAllah
and call the people to Allah.
وَخَرَجَAnd leftإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamمِنْfromبَلَدِهِhis country
And Abraham left his country
وَوَدَّعَand bade farewell toوَالِدَهُhis father
and bade farewell to his father.
وَقَصَدَAnd headed forإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamمَكَّةَMecca
And Abraham headed for Mecca
وَمَعَهُand with himزَوْجُهُhis wifeهَاجَرُHagar
with his wife Hagar.
وَكَانَتْAnd wasمَكَّةُMeccaلَيْسَnotفِيهَاin it
And Mecca had not in it
عَشَبٌgrassوَلَاnorشَجَرٌtrees
grass nor trees.
وَكَانَتْAnd wasمَكَّةُMeccaلَيْسَnotفِيهَاin it
And Mecca had not in it
بِئْرٌa wellوَلَاnorنَهْرٌa river
a well nor a river.
وَكَانَتْAnd wasمَكَّةُMeccaلَيْسَnotفِيهَاin it
And Mecca had not in it
حَيَوَانٌan animalوَلَاnorبَشَرٌa human
an animal nor a human.
وَوَصَلَAnd arrivedإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamإِلَىatمَكَّةَMecca
And Abraham arrived at Mecca
وَنَزَلَand stayedفِيهَاin it
and stayed there.
وَتَرَكَAnd leftإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamزَوْجَهُhis wifeهَاجَرَHagar
And Abraham left his wife Hagar
وَوَلَدَهُand his sonإِسْمَاعِيلَIshmael
and his son Ishmael.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenأَرَادَwantedإِبْرَاهِيمُAbrahamأَنْtoيَذْهَبَgo
And when Abraham wanted to go,
قَالَتْsaidزَوْجُهُhis wifeهَاجَرُHagar:colon
his wife Hagar said:
إِلَىToأَيْنَwhereيَاOسَيِّدِيmy master
'To where, O my master?
أَتَتْرُكُنِيAre you leaving meهُنَاhere
Are you leaving me here?
أَتَتْرُكُنِيAre you leaving meوَلَيْسَwhile there is notهُنَاhere
Are you leaving me while there is not here
مَاءٌwaterوَلَاnorطَعَامٌfood
water nor food?
هَلْDidأَمَرَكَcommand youاللَّهُAllahبِهَذَاwith this
Did Allah command you with this?
قَالَSaidإِبْرَاهِيمُAbraham:colonنَعَمْYes
Abraham said: 'Yes.'
قَالَتْSaidهَاجَرُHagar:colon
Hagar said:
إِذًاThenلَاHe will notيُضَيِّعُنَاabandon us
'Then He will not abandon us.'
