وَقَالَAnd he saidأَنَاIأُحْيِيgive lifeوَأُمِيتُand cause deathقَتَلْتُI killedرَجُلًاa manوَتَرَكْتُand leftرَجُلًاa man
And he said: "I give life and cause death; I killed a man and left a man."
وَكَانَAnd wasالْمَلِكُthe kingبَلِيدًاfoolishجِدًّاveryوَكَذَلِكَand soكُلُّeveryمُشْرِكٍpolytheist
And the king was very foolish, and so is every polytheist.
وَأَرَادَAnd wantedإِبْرَاهِيمُIbrahimأَنْtoيُفْهِمَmake understandالْمَلِكَthe kingوَيُفْهِمَand make understandقَوْمَهُhis peopleفَقَالَso he saidإِبْرَاهِيمُIbrahim
Ibrahim wanted to make the king and his people understand, so Ibrahim said:
فَإِنَّSo indeedاللَّهَAllahيَأْتِيbringsبِالشَّمْسِwith the sunمِنَfromالْمَشْرِقِthe Eastفَأْتِso bringبِهَاitمِنَfromالْمَغْرِبِthe West
"Indeed, Allah brings the sun from the East, so bring it from the West."
فَتَحَيَّرَSo was confusedالْمَلِكُthe kingوَسَكَتَand was silentوَخَجِلَand was ashamedالْمَلِكُthe kingوَمَاand notوَجَدَfoundجَوَابًاan answer
So the king was confused, and he was silent, and the king was ashamed, and he found no answer.
١١11--دَعْوَةُInvitation/Call ofالْوَالِدِthe fatherلِلْمَلِكِto the king
11 - The Father's Invitation to the King:
[[الْبَقَرَةِAl-Baqarah::٢٥٨258]]
[Al-Baqarah: 258]
وَأَرَادَAnd wantedإِبْرَاهِيمُIbrahimأَنْtoيَدْعُوَinviteوَالِدَهُhis fatherأَيْضًاalsoفَقَالَso he saidلَهُto him﴿﴿يَاOأَبَتِmy fatherلِمَwhyتَعْبُدُdo you worshipمَاthat whichلَاnotيَسْمَعُhearsوَلَاand notيُبْصِرُseesوَلَاand notيُغْنِيavailsعَنْكَyouشَيْئًاanything
Ibrahim also wanted to invite his father, so he said to him: "﴿O my father, why do you worship that which neither hears nor sees nor avails you anything."
[[مَرْيَمَMaryam::٤٢42]]
[Maryam: 42]
وَلِمَAnd whyتَعْبُدُdo you worshipمَاthat whichلَاnotيَنْفَعُbenefitsوَلَاand notيَضُرُّharms
And why do you worship that which neither benefits nor harms?
يَاOأَبَتِmy fatherلَاdo notتَعْبُدِworshipالشَّيْطَانَSatan))
O my father, do not worship Satan)

يَاOأَبَتِmy father!!اعْبُدِworshipالرَّحْمَنَthe Most Merciful
O my father! Worship the Most Merciful.
وَغَضِبَAnd became angryوَالِدُthe father ofإِبْرَاهِيمَIbrahimوَقَالَand saidأَنَاIأَضْرِبُكَwill strike youفَاتْرُكْنِيso leave meوَلَاand do notتَقُلْsayشَيْئًاanything
And Ibrahim's father became angry and said: "I will strike you, so leave me and say nothing."
وَكَانَAnd wasإِبْرَاهِيمُIbrahimحَلِيمًاforbearing/patientفَقَالَso he saidلِوَالِدِهِto his father﴿﴿سَلَامٌPeaceعَلَيْكَupon you
And Ibrahim was forbearing, so he said to his father: "﴿Peace be upon you"
[[مَرْيَمَMaryam::٤٧47]]
[Maryam: 47]
وَقَالَAnd he saidلَهُto himأَنَاIأَذْهَبُwill goمِنْfromهُنَاhereوَأَدْعُوand will supplicateرَبِّيmy Lord
And he said to him: "I will go from here and supplicate my Lord."
وَتَأَسَّفَAnd regrettedإِبْرَاهِيمُIbrahimجِدًّاgreatlyوَأَرَادَand wantedأَنْtoيَذْهَبَgoإِلَىtoبَلَدٍa countryآخَرَotherوَيَعْبُدَand worshipرَبَّهُhis Lordوَيَدْعُوَand inviteالنَّاسَthe peopleإِلَىtoاللَّهِAllah
And Ibrahim regretted greatly and wanted to go to another country, worship his Lord, and invite people to Allah.
