وَعَرَفَAnd was knownيُوسُفُJosephفِيinمِصْرَEgyptبِجَمَالِهِ،for his beauty,
And Joseph was known in Egypt for his beauty,
وَإِذَاand whenرَآهُsaw himأَحَدٌ،anyone,قَالَ:he said:مَاNotهَذَاis thisبَشَرًاa human
and when anyone saw him, he said: 'This is not a human.'
إِنْNotهَذَاis thisإِلَّاexceptمَلَكٌan angelكَرِيمٌnoble.'
'It is not this except a noble angel.'
وَاشْتَدَّAnd intensifiedغَضَبُthe anger ofالْمَرْأَةِthe womanوَقَالَتْand she saidلِيُوسُفَto Joseph:
And the woman's anger intensified, and she said to Joseph:
إِذَنْThenتَذْهَبُyou will goإِلَىtoالسِّجْنِ!the prison!'
'Then you will go to prison!'
قَالَSaidيُوسُفُ:Joseph:السِّجْنُThe prisonأَحَبُّis more belovedإِلَيَّto me
Joseph said: 'The prison is more beloved to me.'
وَبَعْدَAnd afterأَيَّامٍdaysرَأَىsawالْعَزِيزُthe rulerأَنْthatيُرْسِلَhe sendيُوسُفَJosephإِلَىtoالسِّجْنِ.the prison.
And after days, the ruler decided to send Joseph to prison.
وَكَانَAnd wasالْعَزِيزُthe rulerيَعْرِفُknowingأَنَّthatيُوسُفَJosephبَرِيءٌ،is innocent,
And the ruler knew that Joseph was innocent,
وَدَخَلَand enteredيُوسُفُJosephالسِّجْنَ.the prison.
and Joseph entered the prison.
۹9––مَوْعِظَةُExhortation ofالسِّجْنِthe prison
9 - Exhortation of the prison
وَدَخَلَAnd enteredيُوسُفُJosephالسِّجْنَ،the prison,وَعَرَفَand knewأَهْلُthe people ofالسِّجْنِthe prisonجَمِيعًاall
And Joseph entered the prison, and all the people of the prison knew
أَنَّthatيُوسُفَJosephشَابٌّis a young manكَرِيمٌ،noble,وَأَنَّand thatيُوسُفَJosephعِنْدَهُhas with himعِلْمٌknowledgeعَظِيمٌ،great,
that Joseph was a noble young man, and that Joseph had great knowledge with him,
وَأَنَّand thatيُوسُفَJosephفِيinصَدْرِهِhis chestقَلْبٌis a heartرَحِيمٌ.merciful.
and that Joseph had a merciful heart in his chest.
وَأَحَبَّAnd lovedأَهْلُthe people ofالسِّجْنِthe prisonيُوسُفَJosephوَأَكْرَمُوهُ.and honored him.
And the people of the prison loved Joseph and honored him.
وَفَرِحَAnd rejoicedالنَّاسُthe peopleبِيُوسُفَin Josephوَعَظَّمُوهُ.and magnified him.
And the people rejoiced in Joseph and magnified him.
وَدَخَلَAnd enteredمَعَهُwith himالسِّجْنَthe prisonرَجُلَانِtwo menوَقَصَّاand they toldعَلَيْهِto himرُؤْيَاهُمَا.their dreams.
And two men entered the prison with him and told him their dreams.
وَقَالَAnd saidأَحَدُهُمَاone of them:إِنِّيIndeed, Iأَرَانِيsee myselfأَعْصِرُpressingخَمْرًا،wine,
And one of them said, 'Indeed, I see myself pressing wine,'
وَقَالَand saidالْآخَرُthe other:إِنِّيIndeed, Iأَرَانِيsee myselfأَحْمِلُcarryingفَوْقَaboveرَأْسِيmy headخُبْزًاbreadتَأْكُلُeatsالطَّيْرُthe birdsمِنْهُ.from it.'
and the other said, 'Indeed, I see myself carrying above my head bread from which the birds eat.'
وَسَأَلَاAnd they askedيُوسُفَJosephعَنِaboutالتَّأْوِيلِ،the interpretation,وَكَانَand wasيُوسُفُJosephعَالِمًاknowledgeableبِتَأْوِيلِin the interpretationالرُّؤْيَا،of dreams,
And they asked Joseph about the interpretation, and Joseph was knowledgeable in the interpretation of dreams.
