كَثِيرًاMuch.
Much.
فَقَالَSo he saidلِأَبْنَائِهِto his sons﴿أَخَافُ"I fearأَنْthatيَأْكُلَهُhe will be eaten byالذِّئْبُthe wolfوَأَنْتُمْwhile youعَنْهُabout himغَافِلُونَare unaware."
So he said to his sons: "I fear that the wolf will eat him while you are unaware of him."
قَالُواThey saidأَبَدًا"Never!كَيْفَHowيَأْكُلُهُwill he be eaten byالذِّئْبُthe wolfوَنَحْنُwhile weحَاضِرُونَare present?
They said: "Never! How will the wolf eat him while we are present?
وَكَيْفَAnd howيَأْكُلُهُwill he be eaten byوَنَحْنُwhile weشُبَّانٌare young menأَقْوِيَاءُstrong?"
And how will he be eaten while we are strong young men?"
وَأَذِنَAnd permittedيَعْقُوبُYa'qubلِيُوسُفَfor Yusuf.
And Ya'qub permitted Yusuf.
٤4--إِلَىToالْغَابَةِthe Forest
4 - To the Forest
وَفَرِحَAnd rejoicedالْإِخْوَةُthe brothersكَثِيرًاmuchلَمَّاwhenأَذِنَpermittedيَعْقُوبُYa'qubلِيُوسُفَfor Yusuf.
And the brothers rejoiced much when Ya'qub permitted Yusuf.
وَذَهَبُواAnd they wentإِلَىtoغَابَةٍa forest.
And they went to a forest.
وَأَلْقَوْاAnd they threwيُوسُفَYusufفِيintoبِئْرٍa wellفِيinالْغَابَةِthe forest.
And they threw Yusuf into a well in the forest.
وَلَمْAnd they did notيَرْحَمُواshow mercy toيُوسُفَYusufالصَّغِيرَthe young,
And they did not show mercy to young Yusuf,
وَلَمْand they did notيَرْحَمُواshow mercy toيَعْقُوبَYa'qubالشَّيْخَthe old manالْكَبِيرَthe elder.
and they did not show mercy to the elderly Ya'qub.
وَكَانَAnd wasيُوسُفُYusufوَلَدًاa boyصَغِيرًاyoung.
And Yusuf was a young boy,
وَكَانَAnd wasقَلْبُهُhis heartصَغِيرًاsmall.
and his heart was small,
وَكَانَتِAnd wasالْبِئْرُthe wellعَمِيقَةًdeep.
and the well was deep,
وَكَانَتِAnd wasالْبِئْرُthe wellمُظْلِمَةًdark.
and the well was dark.
وَكَانَAnd wasيُوسُفُYusufوَحِيدًاalone.
And Yusuf was alone.
وَلَكِنَّButاللهَAllahبَشَّرَgave glad tidings toيُوسُفَYusufوَقَالَand saidلَهُto him,
But Allah gave glad tidings to Yusuf and said to him:
لَا"Do notتَحْزَنْgrieveوَلَاand do notتَخَفْfear,
"Do not grieve and do not fear,
إِنَّindeedاللهَAllahمَعَكَis with you,
indeed Allah is with you,
وَسَيَكُونُand there will beلَكَfor youشَأْنٌa great matter."
and there will be a great matter for you."
سَيَحْضُرُWill comeإِلَيْكَto youالْإِخْوَةُthe brothers
The brothers will come to you,
وَتُخْبِرُهُمْand you will inform themبِمَاof whatفَعَلُوهُthey did.
and you will inform them of what they did.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenفَرَغُواthey finishedمِنْfromشَأْنِهِمْtheir affair
And when they finished their affair
وَأَلْقَوْاand threwيُوسُفَYusufفِيinالْبِئْرِthe well,
and threw Yusuf in the well,
اجْتَمَعُواthey gatheredوَقَالُواand said,
they gathered and said,
مَاذَا"Whatنَقُولُshall we sayلِأَبِينَاto our father?"
"What shall we say to our father?"
