حِينَئِذٍAt that timeيَكُونُwill beأَبُوكُمْyour fatherلَكُمْfor youخَالِصًاsincere
At that time your father will be sincere for you
وَيَكُونُand will beحُبُّهُhis loveلَكُمْfor youخَالِصًاsincere.
and his love for you will be sincere.
قَالَSaidأَحَدُهُمْone of them
One of them said
لَاNoبَلْratherأَلْقُوهُthrow himفِيinبِئْرٍa well
No, rather throw him in a well
فِيinطَرِيقٍa pathيَأْخُذُهُwill take himبَعْضُsome ofالْمُسَافِرِينَthe travelers.
on a path where some of the travelers will take him.
وَوَافَقَAnd agreedعَلَيْهِto itجَمِيعُallالْإِخْوَةِthe brothers.
And all the brothers agreed to it.
وَفَدَCameإِلَىtoيَعْقُوبَJacob
Came to Jacob
وَلَمَّاAnd whenاتَّفَقُواthey agreedعَلَىuponهَذَاthisالرَّأْيِopinion
And when they agreed upon this opinion
جَاءُواthey cameإِلَىtoيَعْقُوبَJacob.
they came to Jacob.
وَكَانَAnd wasيَعْقُوبُJacobيَخَافُfearingعَلَىforيُوسُفَJosephكَثِيرًاgreatly
And Jacob was fearing greatly for Joseph
وَكَانَand wasيَعْرِفُknowingأَنَّthatالْإِخْوَةَthe brothersيَحْسُدُونَهُenvy him
and he knew that the brothers envied him
وَلَاand do notيُحِبُّونَهُlove him.
and do not love him.
وَكَانَAnd wasيَعْقُوبُJacobلَاnotيُرْسِلُsendingيُوسُفَJosephمَعَwithالْإِخْوَةِthe brothers.
And Jacob did not send Joseph with the brothers.
وَكَانَAnd wasيُوسُفُJosephيَلْعَبُplayingمَعَwithأَخِيهِhis brother
And Joseph was playing with his brother
وَلَاand notيَذْهَبُgoingبَعِيدًاfar.
and not going far.
وَكَانَAnd wereالْإِخْوَةُthe brothersيَعْرِفُونَknowingذَلِكَthat
And the brothers knew that
وَلَكِنَّهُمْbut theyعَزَمُواresolvedعَلَىuponالشَّرِّevil.
but they resolved upon evil.
قَالُواThey saidيَاOأَبَانَاour father
They said, O our father
لِمَاذَاwhyلَاdo you notتُرْسِلُsendمَعَنَاwith usيُوسُفَJoseph
why do you not send Joseph with us?
مَاذَاwhatتَخَافُdo you fear?
What do you fear?
هُوَHeأَخُونَاis our brotherالْعَزِيزُdear
He is our dear brother
وَأَخُونَاand our brotherالصَّغِيرُsmall
and our small brother
وَنَحْنُand weأَبْنَاءُare sonsأَبٍof a father
and we are sons of a father
وَالْإِخْوَةُand brothersدَائِمًاalwaysيَلْعَبُونَplayجَمِيعًاall together
and brothers always play all together
فَلِمَاذَاso whyلَاdo we notنَذْهَبُgoنَحْنُweوَنَلْعَبُand playجَمِيعًاall together?
so why do we not go and play all together?
أَرْسِلْهُSend himمَعَنَاwith usغَدًاtomorrow
Send him with us tomorrow
يَرْتَعْhe may grazeوَيَلْعَبْand play
he may graze and play
وَإِنَّاand indeed weلَهُfor himلَحَافِظُونَare surely protectors.
and indeed we are surely protectors for him.
وَكَانَAnd wasيَعْقُوبُJacobشَيْخًاan old manكَبِيرًاgreat
And Jacob was a great old man
وَكَانَand wasيَعْقُوبُJacobعَاقِلًاwiseحَلِيمًاforbearing.
and Jacob was wise and forbearing.
وَكَانَAnd wasيَعْقُوبُJacobلَاnotيُحِبُّlovingأَنْthatيَبْعُدَbe distantمِنْهُfrom himيُوسُفُJoseph.
And Jacob did not love that Joseph should be distant from him.
وَكَانَAnd wasيَخَافُfearingعَلَىforيُوسُفَJoseph٢١21
And he was fearing for Joseph 21
