وَكَانَAndيَعْقُوبُJacobقَدْhadعَمِيَbecome blindمِنْfromكَثْرَةِabundance ofالْبُكَاءِweepingوَالْحُزْنِand sorrow.
And Jacob had become blind from excessive weeping and sorrow.
فَقَالَThen saidيُوسُفُJosephاذْهَبُوْاGo yeبِقَمِيصِيwith this shirt of mineهَذَاthisفَالْقُوْهُand cast itعَلَىuponوَجْهِfaceأَبِيmy fatherيَأْتِhe will comeبَصِيْرًاseeing.
Then Joseph said: 'Go with this shirt of mine and cast it upon my father's face; he will come seeing.'
وَاتُوْنِيAnd bring to meبِأَهْلِكُمْyour familyأَجْمَعِيْنَall of them.
And bring to me all your family.'
٢٤24--يَعْقُوبُJacobعِنْدَat the presence ofيُوسُفَJoseph.
24 - Jacob at Joseph's.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenسَارَdepartedالرِّجَالُthe menبِقَمِيصِwith the shirtيُوسُفَof JosephإِلَىtoكَنْعَانَCanaanأَحَسَّsensedيَعْقُوبُJacobرَائِحَةَthe scentيُوسُفَof Joseph.
And when the men went with Joseph's shirt to Canaan, Jacob sensed the scent of Joseph.
وَقَالَAnd saidإِنِّيIndeed Iلَأَجِدُdo perceiveرِيحَthe scentيُوسُفَof Joseph.
And said: 'Indeed I find the scent of Joseph.'
قَالُواThey saidتَاللَّهِBy Allahإِنَّكَindeed youلَفِيare surely inضَلَالِكَyour errorالْقَدِيمِancient.
They said: 'By God, you are indeed in your ancient error.'
وَلَكِنْButكَانَwasيَعْقُوبُJacobصَادِقًاtruthfulفَلَمَّاso whenاَنْthatجَآءَcameالْبَشِيرُthe bearer of good newsالْقُهُhe cast itعَلَىuponوَجْهِهِhis faceفَارْتَدَّhe returnedبَصِيرًاseeing.
But Jacob was truthful. So when the bearer of good news came, he cast it upon his face, and he returned seeing.
قَالَHe saidأَلَمْDid notأَقُلْI sayلَّكُمْto youإِنِّيthat indeed IأَعْلَمُknowمِنَfromاللَّهِAllahمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُوْنَyou know.
He said: 'Did I not say to you that I know from God what you do not know?'
قَالُواThey saidيَآبَانَاO our fatherاسْتَغْفِرْask forgivenessلَنَاfor usذُنُوبَنَاour sinsإِنَّاindeed weكُنَّاwereخَاطِينَsinners.
They said: 'O our father, ask forgiveness for our sins; indeed we were sinners.'
قَالَHe saidسَوْفَSoonأَسْتَغْفِرُI will ask forgivenessلَكُمْfor youرَبِّيfrom my LordإِنَّهُIndeed Heهُوَisالْغَفُورُthe Forgivingالرَّحِيمُthe Merciful.
He said: 'Soon I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Indeed He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'
وَلَمَّاAnd whenوَصَلَarrivedيَعْقُوبُJacobإِلَىatمِصْرَEgyptاسْتَقْبَلَهُreceived himيُوسُفُJosephوَلَاand do notتَسْأَلْaskعَنْaboutفَرَحِهِمَاtheir joyوَسُرُورِهِمَاand their happiness.
And when Jacob arrived in Egypt, Joseph welcomed him. And do not ask about their joy and their happiness!
وَكَانَAnd it wasيَوْمًاa dayمَشْهُودًاwitnessedفِيinمِصْرَEgyptوَكَانَand it wasيَوْمًاa dayمُبَارَكًاblessed.
And it was a witnessed day in Egypt, and it was a blessed day.
وَرَفَعَAnd raisedيُوسُفُJosephأَبَوَيْهِhis parentsعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِthe throneوَوَقَعُواand they fellكُلُّهُمْall of themسُجَّدًاprostratingلِيُوسُفَto Joseph.
And Joseph raised his parents upon the throne, and they all fell prostrating to Joseph.
وَقَالَAnd saidيُوسُفُJosephهَذَاThisتَأْوِيلُis the interpretationرُعْيَايَof my visionمِنْfromقَبْلُbeforeقَدْindeedجَعَلَهَاmade itرَبِّيmy Lordحَقًّاtrue.
And Joseph said: 'This is the interpretation of my dream from before. Indeed my Lord has made it true.'
