اللَّهُAllah
Allah.
وَأَرْسَلَAnd sentيَعْقُوبُJacobأَبْنَاءَهُhis sonsإِلَىtoمِصْرَEgypt
And Jacob sent his sons to Egypt
لِيَبْحَثُواto searchعَنْforيُوسُفَJosephوَبِنْيَامِينَand Benjamin
to search for Joseph and Benjamin.
وَيَجْتَهِدُواAnd striveفِيinذَلِكَthat
And strive in that.
وَمَنَعَهُمْAnd prevented themيَعْقُوبُJacobمِنْfromأَنْthat
And Jacob prevented them from
يَقْنَطُواthey despairمِنْofرَحْمَةِmercyاللَّهِAllah
despairing of Allah's mercy.
وَذَهَبَAnd wentالْإِخْوَةُthe brothersإِلَىtoمِصْرَEgyptمَرَّةًtimeثَالِثَةًthird
And the brothers went to Egypt a third time
وَدَخَلُواand enteredعَلَىuponيُوسُفَJosephوَشَكَوْاand complainedإِلَيْهِto him
and entered upon Joseph and complained to him
فَقْرَهُمْtheir povertyوَمُصِيبَتَهُمْand their afflictionوَسَأَلُواand askedالْفَضْلَfor the favor
of their poverty and their affliction and asked for the favor.
وَهُنَاAnd hereهَاجَwas stirred upالْحُزْنُthe griefوَالْحُبُّand the loveفِيinيُوسُفَJoseph
And here grief and love were stirred up in Joseph
وَلَمْand did notيَمْلِكْcontrolنَفْسَهُhimself
and he did not control himself.
أَبْنَاءُSonsأَبِيof my fatherوَأَبْنَاءُand sonsالْأَنْبِيَاءِof the prophets
Sons of my father and sons of the prophets
يَشْكُونَcomplainفَقْرَهُمْtheir povertyوَمُصِيبَتَهُمْand their afflictionإِلَىtoمَلِكٍa kingمِنَofالْمُلُوكِthe kings
complain of their poverty and their affliction to a king of the kings?
إِلَىUntilمَتَىwhenأُخْفِيshall I hideالْأَمْرَthe matterعَنْهُمْfrom them
Until when shall I hide the matter from them,
وَإِلَىand untilمَتَىwhenأَرَىshall I seeحَالَهُمْtheir condition
and until when shall I see their condition,
وَإِلَىand untilمَتَىwhenلَاnotأَرَىshall I seeأَبِيmy father
and until when shall I not see my father?
لَمْDid notيَمْلِكْcontrolيُوسُفُJosephنَفْسَهُhimselfوَقَالَand saidلَهُمْto them
Joseph did not control himself and said to them:
هَلْHaveعَلِمْتُمْyou knownمَاwhatفَعَلْتُمْyou didبِيُوسُفَto Josephوَأَخِيهِand his brother
Have you known what you did to Joseph and his brother
إِذْwhenأَنْتُمْyouجَهِلُونَwere ignorant
when you were ignorant.
وَكَانَAnd wereالْإِخْوَةُthe brothersيَعْلَمُونَknowingأَنَّthatهَذَاthisالسِّرَّsecretلَاnotيَعْلَمُهُknows itإِلَّاexceptيُوسُفُJosephوَنَحْنُand we
And the brothers knew that no one knows this secret except Joseph and we,
فَعَلِمُواso they knewأَنَّهُthat heيُوسُفُis Joseph
so they knew that he is Joseph.
سُبْحَانَGlory be toاللَّهِAllah
Glory be to Allah,
هَلْisيُوسُفُJosephحَيٌّalive
is Joseph alive,
أَمَاor ratherمَاتَdid he dieفِيinالْبِئْرِthe well
did he die in the well?
