وَكَيْفَAnd howيُمْكِنُis it possibleلِيُوسُفَfor JosephأَنْtoيَحْبِسَimprisonبَنِيَامِينَBenjaminعِنْدَهُwith himبِغَيْرِwithoutسَبَبٍreasonوَيَقُولُand say
And how is it possible for Joseph to imprison Benjamin with him without reason and say
النَّاسُThe peopleقَدْhaveحَبَسَimprisonedالْعَزِيزُthe Azizعِنْدَهُwith himكَنْعَانِيًّاa Canaaniteبِغَيْرِwithoutسَبَبٍ.reason.إِنَّIndeed,هَذَاthisلَظُلْمٌis injusticeعَظِيمٌ.great.
The people have imprisoned the Aziz with him a Canaanite without reason. Indeed, this is great injustice.
وَلَكِنَّButيُوسُفَJosephكَانَwasذَكِيًّاintelligentعَاقِلًا.wise.كَانَThere wasعِنْدَwithيُوسُفَJosephإِنَاءٌa vesselثَمِينٌ،precious,وَكَانَand heيَشْرَبُused to drinkفِيهِ.from it.
But Joseph was intelligent and wise. There was a precious vessel with Joseph, and he used to drink from it.
وَضَعَHe placedهَذَاthisالْإِنَاءَvesselفِيinمَتَاعِthe baggageبَنِيَامِينَ،of Benjamin,وَأَذَّنَand a heraldمُؤَذِّنٌ:proclaimed:﴿(إِنَّكُمْIndeed, youلَسِرِقُوْنَare thieves﴾)
He placed this vessel in the baggage of Benjamin, and a herald proclaimed: "Indeed, you are thieves."
وَالْتَفَتَAnd the brothersالْإِخْوَةُ،turned,وَقَالُوا:and said:﴿(مَاذَاWhatتَفْقِدُونَare you missing﴾)
And the brothers turned, and said: "What are you missing?"
قَالُوا:They said:﴿(قَالُواThey said,نَفْقِدُwe are missingصُوَاعَthe Sa' (a measure)(إِنَاء)(vessel)الْمَلِكِof the kingوَلِمَنْand for whoeverجَاءَcomesبِهِwith itحِمْلُis the loadبَعِيرٍof a camel.﴾)
They said: "They said, we are missing the Sa' (a measure) (vessel) of the king, and for whoever comes with it is the load of a camel."
قَالُواThey said,تَاللَّهِBy God,لَقَدْindeedعَلِمْتُمْyou knowمَاwhatجِئْنَاwe have comeلِنُفْسِدَto cause corruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِthe landوَمَاand weكُنَّاwere notسُرِقِينَthieves.﴾).
They said, "By God, indeed you know what we have come to cause corruption in the land and we were not thieves."
قَالُوْاThey said,فَمَاSo whatجَزَاؤُةَis the penaltyإِنْifكُنْتُمْyou areكُذِبِينَliars?﴾).
They said, "So what is the penalty if you are liars?"
قَالُواThey said,جَزَاؤُهُIts penaltyمَنْis whoeverوُجِدَis foundفِيinرَحْلِهِhis baggageفَهُوَso heجَزَاؤُهُis his penalty.كَذَلِكَThusنَجْزِيwe recompenseالظَّلِمِينَthe wrongdoers.﴾).
They said, "Its penalty is whoever is found in his baggage, so he is his penalty. Thus we recompense the wrongdoers."
وَخَرَجَAnd the vesselالْإِنَاءُcame outمِنْfromمَتَاعِthe baggageبَنِيَامِينَof Benjaminفَخَجِلَand the brothersالْإِخْوَةُ،were ashamed,وَلَكِنْbutقَالُواthey saidمِنْwithoutغَيْرِfeelingخَجَلٍashamed::﴿(إِنْIfيَسْرِقُhe steals(بنيامين)(Benjamin)فَقَدْthen indeedسَرَقَhas stolenأَخٌa brotherلَّهُof his(يوسف)(Joseph)مِنْbefore.قَبْلُ﴾).
And the vessel came out from the baggage of Benjamin, and the brothers were ashamed, but they said without feeling ashamed: "If he steals (Benjamin) then indeed has stolen a brother of his (Joseph) before."
وَسَمِعَAnd Josephيُوسُفُheardهَذَاthisالْبُهْتَانَfalse accusationفَسَكَتَso he remained silentوَلَمْand did notيَغْضَبْ،get angry,وَكَانَand heيُوسُفُJosephكَرِيمًاwas nobleحَلِيمًاand forbearing...
And Joseph heard this false accusation, so he remained silent and did not get angry, and Joseph was noble and forbearing.
