وَمُتَابَعَتِهِAnd his followingعَنْaboutالتَّحْدِيثِthe updatingوَالإِلْهَامِand the inspirationوَالكَشْفِand the revelationفَإِنَّهُfor heقَدْhasسَلَّمَsurrenderedقَلْبَهُhis heartكُلَّهُallوَسِرَّهُand his secretوَظَاهِرَهُand his apparentوَandبَاطِنَهُhis inner selfلِلرَّسُولِto the messenger.
And his following regarding the updating, inspiration, and revelation, for he has surrendered his whole heart, secret, apparent, and inner self to the messenger.
فَاسْتَغْنَىSo he became independentبِهِby itعَمَّاfrom whatمِنْهُis from him(١)(1).
So he became independent by it from what is from him (1).
قَالَHe said:وَكَانَand it wasهَذَاthisالمُحَدِّثُthe one who updatesيُعَرِّضُpresentsمَاwhatيُحَدِّثُhe updatesبِهِwith itعَلَىtoمَاwhatجَاءَcameبِهِwith itالرَّسُولُ.the messenger.
He said: And it was that the one who updates presents what he updates to what the messenger has brought.
فَإِنْIfوَافَقَهُit agrees with himقَبِلَهُ،he accepts it, and otherwiseوَإِلَّاotherwiseرَدَّهُhe rejects itفَعَلِمَand he knowsأَنَّthatمَرْتَبَةَthe rankالصَّدِيقِيَّةِof the truthfulفَوْقَis aboveمَرْتَبَةَthe rankالتَّحْدِيثِ.of updating.
If it agrees with him, he accepts it, otherwise he rejects it, and he knows that the rank of the truthful is above the rank of updating.
قَالَHe said:وَأَمَّاAs forمَاwhatيَقُولُهُhe saysكَثِيرٌmanyمِنْofأَصْحَابِthe companionsالْخَيَالَاتِof illusionsوَالْجَهَالَاتِand ignorance.
He said: As for what many of the companions of illusions and ignorance say.
حَدَّثَنِيMy heart told meقَلْبِيmy heartعَنْaboutرَبِّيmy Lord.
My heart told me about my Lord.
فَصَحِيحٌIt is correctأَنَّthatقَلْبَهُhis heartحَدَّثَهُ،told him,وَلَكِنbutعَمَّنْ؟from whom?عَنaboutشَيْطَانِهِ،his devil,أَوْorعَنْaboutرَبِّهِ؟his Lord?
It is correct that his heart told him, but from whom? About his devil, or about his Lord?
فَإِذَاSo ifقَالَhe saysحَدَّثَنِيmy heart told meقَلْبِيmy heartعَنْaboutرَبِّي،my Lord,كَانَhe isمُسْنَدًاattributedالْحَدِيثُthe narrationإِلَىtoمَنْwhomلَمْdid notيَعْلَمْknowأَنَّهُthat heحَدَّثَهُ،told him,بِهِwith itوَذَٰلِكَand thatكَذِبٌis a lie.
So if he says my heart told me about my Lord, he is attributing the narration to one whom he does not know has told him, and that is a lie.
قَالَ،He said:وَمُحَدِّثَAnd the narrator of the nationالأُمَّةُthe nationلَمْneverيَكُنْwasn'tيَقُولُsayذَٰلِكَ،that,وَلَاnorتَفَوَّهَspeakبِهِwith itيَوْمًاone dayمِنْofالدَّهْرِ.the time.
He said: And the narrator of the nation has never said that, nor spoken with it one day of time.
وَقَدْAnd indeedأَعَادَهُhe has restoredاللَّهُGodمِنْfromأَنْthatيَقُولَhe saysذَٰلِكَthatبَلْratherكَتَبَhe wroteكَاتِبَهُhis writerيَوْمًاone day«هَذَاThisمَاwhatأَرَىI sawاللَّهَGodأَمِيرَthe commanderالْمُؤْمِنِينَof the believersعُمَرَOmarابْنَson ofالْخَطَّابِ»Al-Khattab.
And indeed God has restored him from saying that; rather, he wrote his writer one day: "This is what I saw God, the commander of the believers, Omar ibn Al-Khattab."
فَقَالَ:He said: «لَا."No.أَمْحَة،Erase it,وَاكْتُبْ:and write:هَذَاThisمَاwhatرَأَىOmar sawعُمَرُOmarابْنُson ofالْخَطَّابِ.Al-Khattab.
He said: "No. Erase it, and write: This is what Omar saw, the son of Al-Khattab."
فَإِنْFor ifكَانَisصَوَابًاcorrect,فَمِنَthen fromاللَّهِ،God,وَإِنْand ifكَانَwasخَطَأًa mistakeفَمِنِّيthen from meوَمِنَand fromالشَّيْطَانِ»the devil."
For if it is correct, then from God; and if it was a mistake, then from me and from the devil."
فَهَذَاThis isقَوْلُthe sayingالمُحَدِّثِof the narratorبِشَهَادَةِwith the testimonyالرَّسُولِof the messengerصَلَّىpeace be upon him.::وَأَنْتَAnd youتَرَىseeالْاحْتِدَائِيَّthe unionistوَالْحُلُولِيَّand the pantheistوَالْإِبَاحِيَّand the libertineالشَّطَّاحَ،the extravagant,وَالسَّمَاعِيَّand the auditory.مُجَاهِرٌopenly proclaimingبِالْقَحَّةِwith shamelessnessوَالْفِرْيَةِ.and falsehood.
This is the saying of the narrator with the testimony of the Messenger, peace be upon him: And you see the unionist, pantheist, and libertine who are openly proclaiming with shamelessness and falsehood.
يَقُولُHe says«حَدَّثَنِي"My heart told meقَلْبِيmy heartعَنْaboutرَبِّي»my Lord."
He says: "My heart told me about my Lord."
عُمَرَ،Omar,فَانْظُرْso lookإِلَىtoمَاwhatبَيْنَis betweenالْقَائِلِينَthe ones who sayوَالْمَرْتَبَتَيْنِand the two ranksوَالْقَوْلَيْنِand the two sayingsوَالْحَالَيْنِ.and the two conditions.
Omar, so look at what is between the ones who say and the two ranks and the two sayings and the two conditions.
وَأَعْطِAnd giveكُلَّeveryذِيone who hasحَقٍّthe rightحَقَّهُ،his right,وَلَاand do notتَجْعَلْmakeالْزَّلَلَthe errorsوَالْخَالِصَand the pureشَيْئًاthingوَاحِدًا.one.
And give every one who has a right his right, and do not make errors and the pure one thing.
الْمَرْتَبَةُthe rankالْخَامِسَةُfifthمَرْتَبَةُthe rankالإِفْهَامِ.of understanding.
The fifth rank is the rank of understanding.
قَالَHe said:اللَّهُAllahتَعَالَى:the Exalted said:﴿﴾وَدَاوُدُAnd Davidوَسُلَيْمَانُand Solomonإِذْwhenيَحْكُمَانِthey ruleفِيinالْحَرْثِ،the planting,إِذْwhenنَفَشَتِthe sheep grazedفِيin itغَنَمِthe flockالْقَوْمِ،of the people,وَكُنَّاand we wereلِحُكْمِهِمfor their rulingشَاهِدِينَ.witnesses.(١)(1)
He said: Allah the Exalted said: "And David and Solomon when they ruled in the planting, when the sheep of the people grazed in it, and we were witnesses to their ruling."
