ٱلْعَذَابُthe punishmentنَصِيبٌis a shareكَمَاasفِيinقَوْلِهِHis sayingوَمَنAnd whoeverيَقْتُلْkillsمُؤْمِنًاa believerمُتَعَمِّدًاintentionallyفَجَزَاؤُهُthen his recompenseجَهَنَّمُis Hellخَـٰلِدًاforeverفِيهَاin itوَغَضَبُand the wrathٱللَّهِof Allahعَلَيْهِupon himوَلَعَنَهُand He has cursed himوَأَعَدَّand preparedلَهُfor himعَذَابًاa punishmentعَظِيمًاgreat
The punishment is a share, as in His saying: 'And whoever kills a believer intentionally, then his recompense is Hell, forever in it, and the wrath of Allah is upon him, and He has cursed him, and prepared for him a great punishment'.
وَلَمْAnd did notيَذْكُرْmentionأَبَدًاever
And He did not mention it ever.
وَقَدْAnd it has beenقِيلَsaidإِنَّthatلَفْظَthe wordٱلتَّأْبِيدِeternityلَمْhas notيَجِئْcomeإِلَّاexceptمَعَwithٱلْكُفْرِdisbelief
And it has been said that the word 'eternity' has not come except with disbelief.
وَقَالَAnd Allah saidتَعَالَىthe ExaltedوَيَوْمَAnd the Dayيَعَضُّthe oppressor will biteٱلظَّالِمُthe wrongdoerعَلَىonيَدَيْهِhis handsيَقُولُhe will sayلَيْتَنِيOh, would that Iٱتَّخَذْتُhad takenمَعَwithٱلرَّسُولِthe Messengerسَبِيلًاa path
And Allah the Exalted said: 'And the Day the oppressor will bite his hands, he will say: 'Oh, would that I had taken with the Messenger a path!'
يَـٰوَيْلَىWoe to me!لَيْتَنِيOh, would that Iلَوْif onlyأَتَّخِذْhad takenفُلَانًاso-and-soخَلِيلًاa friend!لَقَدْSurelyأَضَلَّنِيhe led me astrayعَنْfromٱلذِّكْرِthe mentionبَعْدَafterإِذْwhenجَاءَhe cameفِيto meوَكَانَand SatanٱلشَّيْطَانُSatanلِلْإِنسَانِto mankindخَذُولًاwas a deceiver.
Woe to me! Oh, would that I had taken so-and-so as a friend! Surely he led me astray from the mention after when it came to me, and Satan was a deceiver to mankind.
فَلَاSo there is noرَيْبٌdoubtأَنَّthatهَذَاthisيَتَنَاوَلُincludesٱلْكَافِرَthe disbelieverٱلَّذِيwhoلَمْdid notيُؤْمِنْbelieveبِٱلرَّسُولِin the Messenger.
So there is no doubt that this includes the disbeliever who did not believe in the Messenger.
وَسَبَبُAnd the reasonنُزُولِfor the revelationٱلْآيَةِof the verseكَانَwasفِيin that,فَإِنَّfor indeedٱلظُّلْمَthe oppressionٱلْمُطْلَقَabsoluteيَتَنَاوَلُincludesذَٰلِكَthatوَيَتَنَاوَلُand includesمَاwhatدُونَهُis less than itبِحَسَبِهِaccording to it.
And the reason for the revelation of the verse was in that; for indeed, the absolute oppression includes that and includes what is less than it according to it.
فَمَنSo whoeverخَالَaccompaniesمَخْلُوقًاa creatureفِيinخِلَافٍoppositionأَمْرِto the commandٱللَّهِof Allahوَرَسُولِهِand His Messenger,كَانَhe hasلَهُfor himمِنْofهَذَاthisٱلْوَعِيدِwarningنَصِيبٌa portion,
So whoever accompanies a creature in opposition to the command of Allah and His Messenger, he has for him a portion of this warning,
كَمَاasقَالَHe saidتَعَالَىthe ExaltedٱلْأَخِلَّاءُThe close friendsيَوْمَOn the Dayئِذٍthen,بَعْضُهُمْsome of themلِبَعْضٍwill be enemies of each other,عَدُوٌّexcept the righteous.إِلَّاexceptٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteous.
as He said the Exalted: 'The close friends on that Day will be enemies of each other, except the righteous.'
وَقَالَAnd saidتَعَالَىthe ExaltedإِذْWhenتَبَرَّأَthey disownٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱتَّبَعُواfollowedمِنَfromٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱتَّبَعُواfollowedوَرَأَوْاand sawٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentوَتَقَطَّعَتْand their ties were severedبِهِمُwith themٱلْأَسْبَابُthe means.
And Allah the Exalted said: 'When those who followed disown those who have followed them, and they see the punishment, and their ties will be severed with them.'
قَالَSaidٱلْفُضَيْلُAl-FudailبْنِbinعَيَّاضٍIyadحَدَّثَنَاhe narrated to usٱلَّيْثُAl-LaythعَنْfromمُجَاهِدٍMujahid: هِيَIt isٱلْمُؤَدَّاتُthe dutiesٱلَّتِيthatكَانَتwereبَيْنَهُمْamong themلِغَيْرِfor other thanٱللَّهِAllah,فَإِنَّfor indeedٱلْمُخَالَةُthe companionshipتَحَابُّis affectionateوَتَوَادُّand loving.
Al-Fudail bin Iyad narrated to us from Al-Layth, from Mujahid: 'It is the duties that were among them for other than Allah, for indeed, companionship is affectionate and loving.
وَلِهَذَاAnd for this reason,قَالَhe saidٱلْمَرْءُthe personعَلَىis onدِينِthe religionخَلِيلِهِof his friendفَإِنَّfor indeedٱلْمُتَحَابِّينَthe loving onesيُحِبُّlovesأَحَدُهُمَاone of themمَاwhatيُحِبُّhe lovesٱلْآخَرَthe otherبِحَسَبِaccording toٱلْحُبِّthe love,
And for this reason, he said: 'A person is on the religion of his friend. For indeed, the loving ones love what the other loves according to the love.
فَإِذَاSo ifٱتَّبَعَone followsأَحَدُهُمَاone of themصَاحِبَهُhis companionعَلَىonمَحَبَّتِهِhis loveمَاwhatيُبْغِضُهُhe hatesٱللَّهُAllahوَرَسُولَهُand His Messenger,نَقَصَhe diminishesمِنْfromدِينِهِمَاtheir religionبِحَسَبِaccording toذَٰلِكَthatإِلَىuntilيَنْتَهِيَit reachesإِلَىtoٱلشِّرْكَthe greatest associating,ٱلْأَكْبَرِthe greatest.
So if one follows one of them his companion on his love for what Allah and His Messenger hate, he diminishes from their religion according to that until it reaches the greatest associating.
وَقَالَAnd Allah saidتَعَالَىthe ExaltedوَمِنَAnd amongٱلنَّاسِthe peopleمَنare those whoيَتَّخِذُtakeمِنْfromدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahأَندَادًاpartnersيُحِبُّونَهُمْthey love themكَحُبِّas the loveٱللَّهِof AllahوَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُواbelievedأَشَدُّare strongerحُبًّاin loveلِلَّهِfor Allah.
And Allah the Exalted said: 'And among the people are those who take besides Allah partners; they love them as they love Allah. And those who believed are stronger in love for Allah.
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoقَدَّمُواput forthمَحَبَّةَthe loveٱلْمَالِof wealthٱلَّذِيwhichكَنَزُوهُthey hoardedوَٱلْمَخْلُوقَand the creatureٱلَّذِيwhichاتَّبَعُوهُthey followed,عَلَىoverمَحَبَّةِthe loveٱللَّهِof Allahوَرَسُولِهِand His Messenger,كَانَthere wasفِيهِمْamong themمِنَofٱلظُّلْمِthe oppressionوَٱلشِّرْكَand the associatingبِحَسَبِaccording toذَٰلِكَthat.
And those who put forth the love of wealth which they hoarded and the creature which they followed over the love of Allah and His Messenger, there was among them oppression and associating according to that.
فَلِهَذَاSo for this reasonأَلْزَمَهُمْHe made them adhere toمَحْبُوبَهُمْtheir beloved,كَمَاasفِيinٱلْحَدِيثِthe hadith,يَقُولُHe saysٱللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe ExaltedأَلَيْسَIs it not?عَدْلًاjusticeمِنِّيfrom MeأَنْthatأُولِيI give positionكُلَّeveryرَجُلٍmanمِنْكُمْof youمَاwhatكَانَhe used toيَتَوَلَّاهُfollow in the world.
So for this reason, He made them adhere to their beloved, as in the hadith, Allah the Exalted says: 'Is it not justice from Me to give position to every man among you what he used to follow in the world?'
وَقَدْAnd it has beenثَبَتَestablishedفِيinٱلصَّحِيحِthe authenticيَقُولُhe saysلِيَذْهَبَLet each goكُلُّeveryقَوْمٍgroupإِلَىtoمَاwhatكَانُواthey used toيَعْبُدُونَworship,مِنْfromكَانَwhoيَعْبُدُworshipedٱلشَّمْسَthe sunٱلشَّمْسَthe sunوَمَنْand whoeverكَانَwasيَعْبُدُworshipedٱلْقَمَرَthe moonٱلْقَمَرَthe moon,وَمَنْand whoeverكَانَwasيَعْبُدُworshipedٱلطَّوَاغِيتَthe tyrants;ٱلطَّوَاغِيتَthe tyrants,وَيُمَثِّلُAnd representedلِلْنَّصَارَىfor the Christiansٱلْمَسِيحَthe Messiahوَلِلْيَهُودِand for the JewsعُزَيْرًاUzairفَيَتْبَعُand followsكُلُّeveryقَوْمٍgroupمَاwhatكَانُواthey used to
And it has been established in the authentic that He says: 'Let each group go to what they used to worship; whoever worshiped the sun, then the sun, and whoever worshiped the moon, then the moon; and whoever worshiped the tyrants, then the tyrants' and it represents for the Christians the Messiah, and for the Jews Uzair, and every group follows what they used to.
