For his intention is that after this denial there remains nothing that enters into faith for the believer to act upon, but the denial in the heart is the last limit of faith; he does not mean that whoever does not deny it is without a mustard seed of faith. Therefore, he said: "There is nothing behind that," and he made the believers into three levels, and each of them acted upon the faith that was required of them; however, the first, because he was the most capable of them, was that which was required of him more complete than what was required of the second, and what was required of the second was more complete than what was required of the other. It is known that people vary in the faith required of them according to their capabilities, with the address reaching them all.

Section, and as for the exception in faith by saying the man: I am a believer if God wills, the people are on three statements.
مِنْهُمْAmong themمَنْwhoيُوجِبُهُobligates itوَمِنْهُمْand among themمَنْwhoيُحَرِّمُهُprohibits itوَمِنْهُمْand among themمَنْwhoيَجُوزُallowsالْأَمْرَيْنِboth casesبِاعتِبَارَيْنِconsidering two aspectsوَهَذَاand thisأَصَحُّis the most correctالأَقْوَالِof the statements
Among them are those who obligate it, and among them are those who prohibit it, and among them are those who allow both cases considering two aspects. This is the most correct of statements.
فَالَّذِينَAs for thoseيُحَرِّمُونَهُwho prohibit it,,هُمْthey areالْمُرَجِّئَةُthe Murji’ahوَالْجَهْمِيَّةُand the Jahmiyyahوَنَحْوُهُمْand their likesمِمَّنْamong thoseيَجْعَلُونَwho makeالإِيمَانَfaithشَيْئًاsomethingوَاحِدًاoneيَعْلَمُهُhe knows itالإِنْسَانُthe humanمِنْofنَفْسِهِhimselfكَالتَّصْدِيقِlike the beliefبِالرَّبِّin the Lordوَنَحْوَand similarذَٰلِكَthatمِمَّاfrom whatفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heart
As for those who prohibit it, they are the Murji’ah and the Jahmiyyah and their likes among those who make faith something that a person knows from himself, like the belief in the Lord and similar to that which is in his heart.
فَيَقُولُSo he saysأَحَدُهُمْone of themأَنَاI amأَعْلَمُcertain thatأَنَّthatيُؤْمِنُhe is a believer،,كَمَاjust asأَعْلَمُI knowأَنَّنِيthat Iتَكَلَّمْتُspokeبِالشَّهَادَتَيْنِthe two testimonies،,وَكَمَاand just asأَعْلَمُI knowأَنَّنِيthat Iقَرَأْتُreadالْفَاتِحَةَthe opening,,وَكَمَاand just asأَعْلَمُI knowأَنَّنِيthat Iأُحِبُّloveرَسُولَthe messengerاللَّهِof Allah،,وَأَنَّيand that Iأَبْغَضُhateالْيَهُودَthe Jewsوَالنَّصَارَىand the Christians,,فَقَوْلِيso my sayingأَنَاI amمُؤْمِنٌa believerكَقَوْلِيis like my saying::أَنَاI amمُسْلِمٌa Muslim،,وَكَقَوْلِيand like my saying::تَكَلَّمْتُI spokeبِالشَّهَادَتَيْنِthe two testimonies،,وَقَرَأْتُand I readالْفَاتِحَةَthe opening,,وَكَقَوْلِيand like my saying::أَنَاI amأَبْغَضُhateالْيَهُودَthe Jewsوَالنَّصَارَىand the Christians,,وَنْحُوand in respect toذَٰلِكَthatمِنَfromالأَحْوَالِthe statesالْحَاضِرَةِpresentالَّتِيthatأَنَاI amأَعْلَمُهَاaware of.
So one of them says, 'I know that I am a believer, just as I know that I spoke the two testimonies, and just as I know that I read the opening, and just as I know that I love the Messenger of Allah, and that I hate the Jews and the Christians. So my saying 'I am a believer' is like my saying 'I am a Muslim,' and like my saying 'I spoke the two testimonies, and read the opening,' and like my saying 'I hate the Jews and the Christians,' and similar to that of the present states that I am aware of.
وَكَمَاAnd just asأَنَّهُit is notلَاpermissible.يَجُوزُone may sayأَنْthatيُقَالَit is saidأَنَاI amقَرَأْتُI readالْفَاتِحَةَthe openingإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُAllah,,كَذَلِكَjust likeلَاit is not permissibleيُقَالُto sayأَنَاI amمُؤْمِنٌa believerإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُAllah،,لَكِنَّbutإِذَاifكَانَhe isيَشُكُّin doubtفِيinذَٰلِكَ,فَيَقُولُhe says::فَعَلْتُهُI did itإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُAllah
And just as it is not permissible for one to say 'I read the opening if Allah wills,' so it is not permissible for him to say 'I am a believer if Allah wills;' but if he is in doubt about that, he says, 'I did it if Allah wills.'
قَالُواThey saidفَمَنْSo whoeverاسْتَثْنَىexemptedفِيinإِيمَانِهِhis faithفَهُوَhe isشَاكٌّin doubtفِيهabout itوَسَمُّوهُمْand they named themالشَّكَاكَةَthe doubters.
They said, 'So whoever exempted in his faith, he is in doubt about it and they named them the doubters.'
وَالَّذِينَAnd thoseأَوْجَبُواwho obligatedالِاسْتِثْنَاءَthe exemptionلَهُمْfor themمَأْخَذَانِtwo points.(۱)(1)
And those who obligated the exemption have two points.
