And it is true, not a lie, but it decreases from the faith which is the glorification of God and submission to His awe and majesty, and obedience to the one who is believed in, which is God. So from that is the deficiency, not from their acknowledgment that God is true, and what he said is true.
فَيُقَالُIt is said: مَاthat whatذَكَرَهُhe mentionedيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىthatأَنَّwhoeverأَتَىcomesبِالإِيمَانِwith the faithالْوَاجِبِthe obligatory، فَقَدْhasأَتَىcomeبِالإِسْلَامِwith Islam، وَهَذَاand thisحَقٌّis true، وَلَكِنbutلَيْسَthere is notفِيهِin itمَاwhatيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىthatأَنَّwhoeverأَتَىcomesبِالإِسْلَامِwith Islamالْوَاجِبِthe obligatory، فَقَدْhasأَتَىcomeبِالإِيمَانِwith faith
It is said that what he mentioned indicates that whoever comes with the obligatory faith has come with Islam, and this is true, but there is nothing in it that indicates that whoever comes with the obligatory Islam has come with faith.
فَقَوْلُهُSo his saying: (مَنْ: (Whoeverآمَنَbelievesبِاللَّهِin Godفَقَدْhasخَضَعَsubmittedلَهُto Himوَقَدْand hasاسْتَسْلَمَsubmittedلَهُto Him))، حَقٌّis true، لَكِنbutأَيٌّanyشَيْءٍthingفِيinهَذَاthisيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىthatأَنَّwhoeverأَسْلَمَsubmits to GodاللَّهَGodوَخَضَعَand submitsلَهُto Himفَقَدْhasآمَنَbelievedبِهِin Himوَبِمَلَائِكَتِهِand in His angelsوَبِكُتُبِهِand in His booksوَرُسُلِهِand His messengersوَالْبَعْثِand the resurrectionبَعْدَafterالْمَوْتِdeath
So his saying: "Whoever believes in God has submitted to Him and has submitted to Him," is true, but any indication in this that whoever submits to God and obeys Him believes in Him, in His angels, in His books, in His messengers, and in the resurrection after death?
وَقَوْلُهُAnd his saying : (إِنَّ : (IndeedاللَّهَGodوَرَسُولَهُand His MessengerقَدْhasبَيَّنَexplainedأَنَّthatالإِسْلَامَIslamوَالْإِيمَانَand faithلَاnotيَفْتَرِقَانِdiffer.، إِنْIfأَرَادَHe intendedأَنْthatاللَّهَGodأَوْجَبَهُمَاobligated them bothجَمِيعًاallوَنَهَىand prohibitedعَنْaboutالتَّفْرِيقِthe differentiationبَيْنَهُمَاbetween them، فَهَذَاthis isحَقٌّtrue، وَإِنْand ifأَرَادَHe intendedأَنْthatاللَّهَGodجَعَلَmadeمُسَمًّىthe designationهَذَاthisمُسَمًّىthe designationهَذَاthis، فَنُصُوصُthen the textsالْكِتَابِof the bookوَالسُّنَّةِand the Sunnahتُخَالِفُcontradictذَٰلِكَthat، وَمَاand noذُكِرَmentionedقَطُّeverنَصًّاa textوَاحِدًاonيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىtheالاتِّفَاقِagreementالمُسَمَّيَيْنِof the two names
And his saying: "Indeed, God and His Messenger have explained that Islam and faith do not differ," if He intended that God obligated them both and prohibited the differentiation between them, this is true, and if He intended that God made the designation of this the designation of this, then the texts of the book and the Sunnah contradict that, and no text has been mentioned that indicates the agreement of the two names.
وَكَذَلِكَSimilarlyقَوْلُهُhis saying: (مَنْ: (Whoeverفَعَلَactsمَاwhatأُمِرَwas commandedبِهِwith itوَانْتَهَىand refrainsعَمَّاfrom whatنُهِيَwas prohibitedعَنْهُfrom it، فَقَدْhasاَسْتَكْمَلَcompletedالإِيمَانَthe faithوَالْإِسْلَامَand Islam، فَهَذَاthis isصَحِيحٌtrue، إِذَاifفَعَلَhe actsمَاwhatأُمِرَwas commandedبِهِwith itبَاطِنًاinternally، ظَاهِرًاand externally، وَيَكُونُand he isقَدْhasاِسْتَكْمَلَcompletedالإِيمَانَthe faithوَالْإِسْلَامَand Islamالْوَاجِبَthe obligatoryعَلَيْهِupon himوَلَاand notيَلْزَمُmustأَنْthatيَكُونَbeإِيْمَانُهُhis faithوَإِسْلَامُهُand his Islamمُسَاوِيًاequal toلِلْإِيمَانِthe faithوَالْإِسْلَامِand Islamالَّذِيthat whichفَعَلَهُwas doneأُولُوthe possessors ofالْعَزْمِdeterminationمِنَofالرُّسُلِthe messengersكَالخَلِيلِlike the friendإِبْرَاهِيمَIbrahim، وَمُحَمَّدٍand Muhammadخَاتَمَthe lastالنَّبِيِّينَof the prophetsعَلَيْهِمُupon themالصَّلَاةُpeaceوَالسَّلَامُand blessingsبَلْratherكَانَhe wasمَعَهُwith himمِنَofالإِيمَانِthe faithوَالْمُسْلِمِand Islamمَاwhatلَاcannotيُقَادِرُbe matchedعَلَيْهِby himغَيْرُهُothersمِمَّنْof whomلَيْسَis notكَذَٰلِكَsuch
Similarly, his saying: "Whoever acts upon what he was commanded and refrains from what was prohibited, has completed the faith and Islam, this is true, if he acts upon what he was commanded inwardly and outwardly, and he has completed the obligatory faith and Islam upon him; and it does not require that his faith and Islam be equal to the faith and Islam that was done by the possessors of determination from the messengers, such as the friend Ibrahim and Muhammad, the last of the prophets, peace be upon them, rather he was with him of the faith and Islam that cannot be matched by others who are not like that, and was not commanded with it.

And his saying: "Whoever leaves something of that, the name of Islam and faith will not cease from him, except that he decreases from others in that, so it is said: if it is intended that something from Islam and faith remains, this is true as indicated by the texts, contrary to the Khawarij and the Mu'tazila. And if it was intended that he is called without limitation a believer and Muslim in the context of praise and the promise of paradise, this is contrary to the Book and the Sunnah, and if it were so, they would have entered into his saying: "God has promised the believers and believing women gardens flowing beneath which are rivers" (At-Tawbah: 72), and similar to that which they were promised in it of heaven without punishment.
